Begin your exploration in Norway’s capital city, Oslo. Visit its various museums to learn all about its proud Viking past and Viking ancestors, and step on board the ‘strongest wooden boat ever built’. In Stockholm, visit all the treasured jewels of the city to understand its uniqueness. And in Copenhagen, experience the vibrant city through its idyllic canals and delve into its history through its various celebrated sites.

Starting in Greenland, your voyage will take you to Baffin Island, a wild landscape that will captivate you. With its barren rocks rising up from the depths of the ocean and the opportunity to be surrounded by multiple species of wildlife, this expedition in ultra-luxury is astounding.

Itinerary

Welcome to Oslo, the capital of Norway. Your wondrous journey begins with a two night Special Stay. Surrounded by forests and fjords, the Norwegian capital is a modern and diverse city.

From the 8th to the 11th century, the Vikings started their journey across Europe, looking for land and trade. Discover their amazing history during your visit to the Bygdoy Peninsula, home to three famous museums honouring the rich nautical heritage of the Norse race and its warrior ancestors.

Wander the Viking Ship Museum, the Kon-Tiki Museum and the Fram Polar Ship. Fram is the strongest wooden ship ever built and still holds the records for sailing farthest north and farthest south. You will be able to step on board the ship and see how the crew managed to survive in the coldest and most dangerous places on earth – the Arctic and the Antarctic.

Enrich: Immerse yourself in the architecture, stage technology, opera and ballet at Oslo’s Opera House during a private backstage tour with a specialist guide. Breathe in the beautiful views from the rooftop while enjoying a glass of wine. (B/D)

Enrich: Enhance your art knowledge with an art specialist at the Munch Museum. Explore one of the most comprehensive one-man museums in the world, home to over half of Munch’s paintings, including ‘The Scream’ Transfer to the airport for your flight to the trendy Swedish capital, Stockholm.

Built on 14 islands connected by 57 bridges and looking proudly out onto the Baltic Sea, Stockholm is said to be one of the most beautiful capital cities in the world. The graceful architecture, the greenery, the fresh air and the proximity to the water are distinctive traits of this city. Spend the next two nights at your Special Stay hotel. (B)

Your local guide will unveil the city’s most treasured hotspots during a city tour. You will discover the City Hall with its spire featuring the golden Three Crowns, one of Sweden’s most famous buildings; you will also see the Riddarholm Church and the Royal Palace. Then, visit the Vasa Ship Museum located on the island of Djurgården, where the 17th century warship ‘Vasa’ is now housed after it tragically capsized and sank on its inaugural voyage in 1628. This evening, enjoy a highlight dinner at Fem Sma Hus, a mixture of Swedish cuisine with a French touch, in a stunning historical setting. (B/D)

From its humble origins as a fishing village to its heyday as the glittering capital of the Danish Empire, to its current position as one of the world’s premier design capitals, the stories and characters of Copenhagen’s history can be discovered in its sumptuous palaces, copper-roofed town houses and atmospheric cobbled squares. Enjoy a three night stay. (B)

Discover the wonderful Rosenborg Castle, an elegant Renaissance castle built as a country summerhouse in 1606. Rosenborg Castle features 400 years of magnificence, royal art treasures and the Crown Jewels and Royal Regalia. You will also get to see the delightful courtyard of Amalienborg Palace, home to Princess Mary and the Danish Royal Family.

Sisimiut is the second largest town in Greenland and means ‘the people living in a place where the fox dens’. Stroll by the brightly coloured houses to explore one of the most widespread and beautiful backcountry areas in Greenland. (B/L/D)

Spectacular days await as you cruise Disko Bay. Ilulissat is named from the Inuit word for ‘icebergs’. Formerly called Jakobshavn, the town is best known for large number of icebergs breaking away from the nearby Ilulissat Icefjord, into which one of the world’s fastest moving and most active glaciers calves 46 cubic kilometres of ice annually. Listen for the rumbling sounds in the distance of icebergs calving from the Sermeq Kujalleq Glacier.

A town of only 1,100 inhabitants, Upernavik is located on the picturesque Archipelago consisting of over 100 rocky islands. Officially founded in 1772, this area had been explored by Inuit hunters much earlier. A Viking runestone was also found in 1824 atop Kingittorsuaq, an island some 20km to the north of Upernavik, and is dated to approximately the mid-13th century.

Discovery: Explore the villages lining the shore by kayak, gliding past the islands that dot the archipelago, be guided by the Discovery Team in the hopes of witnessing muskox in the Upernavik backcountry or cruise by Zodiac to the Upernavik Icefjord. (B/L/D)

Isabella Bay is Canada's first National Marine Wildlife Area and has become a very important region bowhead whales, with over 100 whales recorded at one time. The Ninginganiq National Wildlife Area includes the islands of Isabella Bay and the surrounding shores.

Discovery: Join our Marine Biologists and Naturalists in Zodiacs as we observe bowhead whales in their natural environment. (B/L/D)

Enjoy a day at sea. (B/L/D)

Spectacular in appearance, the barren rocks rising up from the depths of the ocean at Lady Franklin Island and Monumental Island is some of the oldest on Earth. Formed 2.5 to four billion years ago, these islands offer an abundance of caribou, bears and walrus. Search the rock face for black guillemots, Atlantic puffins and the rare Sabine’s gull.

Discovery: Explore the islands with the Discovery team on Zodiac or kayak. (B/L/D)

Akpatok Island is a remote, uninhabited island in northern Quebec. Its sheer limestone cliffs rise vertically hundreds of metres from the sea. Named a Canadian Important Bird Area and a Key Migratory Bird Terrestrial Habitat site, birders will delight at the opportunity to be surrounded by multiple species, including great numbers of thick-billed murres black guillemot and the Peregrine falcon.

Discovery: Learn about the different bird species with our onboard Ornithologist, kayak alongside the cliff face, or hike across the sparce tundra. (B/L/D)

For two centuries, Battle Harbour was the economic and social centre of the southeastern Labrador coast of Canada. Your passionate local guide will escort you around this carefully preserved village sharing stories of the traditional life and times of Newfoundlanders and Labradoreans. (B/L/D)

Set against the impressive backdrop of the Long Range Mountains, Corner Brook’s thick forest and jagged cliffs will amaze.

Freechoice: Learn the history of Captain Cook at his Historic Site and museum, taking in the amazing view.

Visit the Fortress of Louisbourg. Be welcomed by the military drummers and be regaled with tales of days past by the entertaining guides. Be treated to a concert in the local chapel and have the chance to learn about the rum matured on site or the French Canadian way to make hot chocolate, then witness the cannon firing ceremony.
