Join Scenic Eclipse departing from Scotland. Explore the old port town of Lerwick before sailing towards one of the most amazing coastlines. Cruise through magnificent fjords, including Sognefjord and Geirangerfjord, surrounded by dramatic peaks and steep mountains. Relax as your Discovery Yacht effortlessly weaves its way along like the longboard of the Vikings once did. Along the way, watch out for the diverse wildlife such as puffins, the white-tailed sea eagle, seals and dolphins.

Itinerary

Start your journey in the heart of Dublin with a two night stay.

This morning your local guide will help you discover the history and charm of Ireland’s capital city. Set along the banks of the River Liffey, Dublin is awash with Georgian architecture, grand squares and historic monuments. Freechoice: Explore the interactive Guinness Storehouse where you will learn how to ‘pull the perfect pint’, or gain an understanding of what it means to be Irish at the EPIC Museum of Irish Emigration. Enjoy dinner tonight at a traditional Irish pub. (B/D)

Discover Blarney Castle where legend has it, if you kiss the famous stone you will receive the ‘gift of the gab’. Then continue to Killarney for a two night stay. (B/D)

Experience the beautiful scenery of the Ring of Kerry. See where the Iveragh Mountains dramatically drop into the Atlantic Ocean, and watch as tiny fishing villages and off-shore islands come in and out of view around each twisting bend. It is often said that the landscapes vary a hundred times in 100 kilometres. (B)

Explore Bunratty Folk Park Museum, before driving along spectacular coastline to the stunning Cliffs of Moher. Arrive in the vibrant city of Galway for your overnight stay. (B)

Belfast is a port city with a fascinating history. Learn about its troubled past during your guided tour. Freechoice: Discover the story of the Titanic, from its design and build to its fateful ending. Alternatively, take a ride in one of Belfast’s historic black cabs and learn about the city’s past and present. (B)

This morning, journey to Scotland via ferry, before continuing on to Loch Lomond, one of Scotland’s best known lakes. This evening, check into your historic accommodation for a two night Special Stay. (B/D)

Today visit Stirling Castle, one of the regions most iconic castles. Today you will discover its vast history including as the childhood home of Mary Queen of Scots. (B)

Journey to mysterious Loch Ness, keeping an eye out for the fabled monster. Continue to Inverness for a two night stay. (B/D)

Today discover Cawdor Castle. The castle dates back to the 14th century and is still inhabited by the Cawdor family. Then visit the Battle of Culloden Visitors Centre where you will learn about the 1745 Jacobite rising and hear tales of the battle that is often described as one of the most brutal in Scottish history. Our last stop for today is the Glenfiddich distillery to sample one of the most celebrated whiskies in Scotland. (B)

Enrich: Enjoy morning tea and a display of the ancient art of falconry, known as the ‘sport of kings’ which dates back almost 4,000 years. Then its on to the Scottish capital, Edinburgh, where you will check into your hotel for a two night stay. (B/D)

The city of Edinburgh is one of the most architecturally beautiful cities in the world, with monuments, cathedrals and buildings all perfectly preserved. During a city tour, board the Royal Yacht Britannia then explore Edinburgh Castle, the iconic symbol of this beautiful 1,000 year old city. (B)

Home to the Royal Yacht Britannia, the vibrant port of Leith offers a fitting embarkation point for your immersion into Celtic and Viking voyage of discovery. Board Scenic Eclipse and toast the start of your voyage. (B/D)

Today, relax on board. With the many choices available to you on board, you will be surprised at how quickly time passes. Choose one of the daily activities, join an entertaining discussion in the theatre or immerse yourself in the Nordic bathing experiences. (B/L/D)

The most northerly point of the British Isles, Lerwick’s waterfront is lined with sandstone buildings dating back to the 18th century. The sound of traditional Shetland music can often be heard as you walk through the twisting lanes of this charming harbour town. Freechoice: Visit the remarkable prehistoric archaeological site of Jarlshof, or take a ferry to the Island of Mousa and admire the Iron Age fortress, incredible scenery and abundant wildlife. Journey to Norway’s second largest city, the Hanseatic fishing port of Bergen, surrounded by seven hills. One of the prettiest cities in Norway, Bergen dates back to the 12th century. Admire the many multi-coloured wooden buildings, by far the most iconic sight to greet any visitor to Bergen. As a UNESCO World Heritage City and a European City of Culture, the Bergen region has the ideal balance of nature, culture and urban life. Freechoice: Join a local for a guided tour around Bergen, or travel to the house of the famed Norwegian composer and pianist Edvard Grieg before a private recital in the museums concert hall. Discovery: Hike to Mount Fløien, learning of the beloved Norwegian outdoor culture, tales of trolls and everyday life in old and modern days, or venture out and bike through this stunning city. Cruise along Sognefjord, the largest fjord in Norway and you will soon see why it deserves the nickname of ‘King of the Fjords’. At its deepest, Sognefjord plunges more than 1,300 metres while the spectacular mountains rise on either side. You’ll pass through the village of Vikøyri before making your way to the village of Flåm in the heart of the fjord. Freechoice: Ride the world-famous Flåm Railway for a day of stunning scenery. Or you may choose to explore an authentic Viking Village. Discovery: Hike to the Brekkefossen waterfall with a local guide sharing their knowledge and history of the area. (B/L/D)

Be greeted by a beautiful stretch of coastline, spectacular mountains and valleys, rolling farmland and the biggest glacier in Europe. The view is sure to steal your breath. The mountains in Nordfjord plunge from altitudes of a few thousand meters, straight down into the fjord and the ocean, creating magnificent waterfalls (B/L/D)

Situated in the inner Geirangerfjord, Geiranger is one of Norway’s most beautiful sights surrounded by steep mountains on either side of the fjord. It’s listed as one of the most beautiful fjords in the world and is included on the UNESCO World Heritage list. Take in the magnificent surroundings bedecked with cliffs, mountains, and tranquil lakes. (B/L/D)

Named after Norse mythology, Frøya is the goddess of love and beauty. See the rolling hillside blanketed in vibrant purple heather, Scandivain architecture scattered along the rocky coastline, and calm, sheltered inlets ready for exploration. (B/L/D)

The second largest glacier in Norway will astound you with its 370 square kilometres and shades of blue in the ice formations. It is also the lowest glacier in mainland Europe at just 20 meters above sea level, making it accessible for nature-based experiences. (B/L/D)

Cruise along the Lofoten Islands, with dramatic peaks, sheltered coves and pristine beaches. The archipelago is a visual feast to explore and discover. This rare wilderness offers breath-taking scenery surrounded by majestic mountains, deep fjords, seabird colonies and picturesque fishing villages. Known as the cultural hub of the Arctic, Tromsø sits 400km above the Arctic Circle in the land of the Midnight Sun. Surprisingly cosmopolitan for its remote location, during the summer Tromsø is full of locals basking in the sunlight, tucking into fresh seafood on the docks, enjoying a drink at the world’s most northern brewery or taking a dip in the refreshing waters of the local beach. Your cruise ends this morning after breakfast. Say farewell to the crew and disembark Scenic Eclipse for your journey home. Please book your flight to depart out of Tromso after 11:00 AM.
