Itinerary

Welcome to the Queen of the Adriatic, where grand waterfront palazzi and long-standing traditions echo the city’s medieval grace and glory. Transfers depart from Venice Airport at 11:00 and 13:00 to your hotel. As you start off your women’s-only tour, meet your Travel Director and fellow travelers at 17:30 to enjoy a delightful Welcome Dinner at a nearby restaurant. (DW) Stay: Hotel Continental Venice.

On your orientation see the Byzantine basilica in St Mark’s Square, the colonnaded Doge’s Palace and the iconic Bridge of Sighs. Continue to the island of Murano and witness the ancient skill of glassblowing, now practiced by precious few masters. Join a MAKE TRAVEL MATTER® Experience as you watch artisans create delicate works of art using rare traditional practices and support the master glassblowers in preserving their art. Listen to customary Venetian songs as your gondola glides through the myriad of beautiful canals.   • Hvar: Join Fedra, the founder of the Faria women's co-op and learn about their remarkable job work in using the ingredients indigenous to the island to create delicacies and cosmetics. Taste her sustainable chocolates that were inspired by her love of locally available produce and grandma's recipes. Majority of the cocoa used in the production of the chocolate is sourced sustainably and certifies to the Fairtrade international standard. All the other ingredients used are seasonal and native of Hvar island. Faria Women's Co-op, the only women's association on Hvar island, empowers local women to maintain the strong cultural heritage of the island, re-inventing the traditional recipes and know-how of their grandmothers and bringing it back at to the heart of the island life and community. The co-operation also works with young students in mentoring them to use their knowledge and skills in setting up their own business cooperatives.   • Plitvice Lakes National Park: Join a Local Expert to explore Plitvice National Park and learn how the site actively carries out research to monitor the natural habitat of species. The heritage site actively carries out studies to monitor and protect the natural habitat. It educates its visitors on the marine environment and best practices for a low-impact experience. The site participates in habitat restoration and is constantly working to protect the parks natural ecosystems and animal population. The staff educate their visitors about local traditions and share their personal story of the village with great passion from personal knowledge and experience.
