Experience Sardinia's wonderful hospitality while you refuel on delicious food and wine.

Itinerary

Your trip starts in Cagliari, once the capital of the Kingdon of Sardinia and well known for the Castello, a fortified medieval hillside district located above the rest of the city. There is so much more to Cagliari than history, the mountian views, sea port and sandy beach. The people are charming and food and hospitality is first class. Tree lined boulevards with the buzz of people sitting outisde of cafes. If you are lucky, you can spot flamingos relaxing in the surrounding ponds.

No cycling today.

We are able to provide private transfers from Cagliari Airport (CAG) at an additional cost. Please contact our self-guided team for further information. Stay: Hotel Due Colonne (Comfortable)

After breakfast a private transfer will take you and your bikes to Nebida from where you will start your coastal daily cycle about 25 km to the port of Portovesme, where you take the ferry to the Island of San Pietro. Docking at Carloforte harbour you soon start noticing the different accent the Carlofortini have: in fact they have Genoese roots and speak a different dialect from the rest of Sardinians. After a walk or ride in Carloforte you take another ferry, this time to Calasetta, on Sant'Antioco Island, home of some excellent wines.

Total cycling distance today is approximately 37 kilometres (304 metres accumulated ascent and 150 metres accumulated descent). Stay: Il Sentiero B&Bio (Comfortable) (B)

You can choose to kick back and relax today or take a cycle ride around the island. Our suggested route makes its way around the island, with stops at various inlets for a break or picnic. Other options include taking a fishing boat excursion or just to relax on the beach.

Total cycling distance today is approximately 42 kilometres (480 metres total accumulated ascent and 460 metres descent). Stay: Il Sentiero B&Bio (Comfortable) (B)

This morning your first stop is the village of Tratalias, with its romanic church dedicated to Saint Maria di Montserrat. The so called ghost village with just a few renovated stone houses will take you back to the enchanted atmosphere of the ancient Tatalia, once enclosed by three Baroque arches (two are still intact), which may have been entrances to the citadel. You then descend towards Porto Pino along a beautiful countryside and vineyards.

Total cycling distance today is approximately 35 kilometres (220 metres total accumulated ascent and 225 metres descent) Stay: Hotel Cala dei Pini (Comfortable) (B)

There are many small villages you can visit on this circular ride from Porto Pino. It's possible to ride your bike inland and stop at beautiful Sant Anna Arresi for a picnic lunch, a lovely little town named after the saint. After the ride just relax on the famous Porto Pino dunes beach, little coves with pink sand and crystalline waters.

Total cycling distance today is approximately 24 kilometres (260 metres total accumulated ascent and 260 metres descent) (optional). Stay: Hotel Cala dei Pini (Comfortable) (B)

This morning your first stop is the village of Masinas, after a stop at the village of Santadi (home of a famous winery) you pass by the stunning caves Is Zuddas, worth a visit! A nice ride along a quiet road leads you to Teulada, last stop of today, famous for terracotta pipes and highly refined embroidery.

Total cycling distance today is approximately 35 kilometres (210 metres total accumulated ascent and 310 metres descent). Stay: Hotel Jasmine (Comfortable) (B)

The final ride is a must for cyclists! The Costa del Sud is an incessant repetition of ups and downs with breath-taking views over the coast and the sea, with occasional watchtowers and beautiful inlets. There are several places to stop and swim in the crystal clear water. The final stop is in the lively town of Pula from where you catch the local bus to Cagliari, which takes about one hour. With such little time in this city you may choose to extend your stay beyond tonight.

Total cycling distance today is approximately 50 kilometres (625 metres total accumulated ascent and 675 metres descent) Stay: Hotel Marin (Comfortable) (B)

After breakfast, the organised part of your holiday comes to an end.

We are able to provide private transfers to Cagliari Airport (CAG) at an additional cost. Please contact our self-guided team for further information. Public transport options are also available. (B)
