Overview

Book online and enjoy exclusive savings on Exodus 7 Day Highlights of the Pembrokeshire Coast. The Pembrokeshire Coastal Path stretches a staggering 299km along the South Wales coastline from St Dogmaels in the north to Amroth in the south. The area was first designated a National Park in 1952 with the famous path itself becoming the first national trail in Wales when it opened in 1970.

The trail makes for incredibly scenic hiking, with contrasting landscapes ranging from the wild remote headlands of the north to the legendary castle ruins and rock sea pillars of the south. Dotted along...read more the coastline you'll find traditional fishing villages barely touched by tourism, tiny hidden coves and pristine sandy beaches.

This twin centre walking holiday incorporates some of the best walking on both the northern and southern sections of the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path but without the more challenging hiking of the northernmost trails. Your base for the first 3 nights is pretty St David's, Britain's smallest city and home to the impressive 12th Century St David's cathedral and Gothic Bishops' Palace.

The area boasts some of the most magnificent coastal scenery in Pembrokeshire and you will discover its immaculate beaches, tranquil harbour villages and rugged cliffs, with a good chance of spotting colonies of guillemots, razorbills and cormorants. There's also the option to take a boat trip out to the nearby islands - including Skomer, the natural habitat of the area's renowned puffins!

Then you head to Pembrokeshire's southern shores and vibrant Tenby, with its gorgeous sandy beaches, offshore 19th century fort and pastel coloured esplanade. Your walks here take you over undulating clifftop trails, passing Norman castles, towering sea stacks and unspoilt bays.

Your accommodation in St David's and Tenby is family run and in prime locations, with comfortable ensuite rooms as standard. Full Welsh breakfasts are included daily to set you up for a full day's walking whilst evening meals have been left to you so you can choose from the wealth of superb pubs and restaurants available locally.

Itinerary

Take time for a stroll to the city's famous cathedral before your briefing.

We take you to the appropriately named Whitesands Bay. From here follow the path to St Justinian's, a small harbour with its lifeboat stations dramatically nestled in the low cliff face. There are spectacular views of Ramsey island as far as Pen Dal-aderyn, the most western point in Wales, then the vast expanse of St Bride's Bay dramatically opens up before you (B).

After a private transfer to the pretty harbour village of Solva, follow the Solva River to the coast and the stunning natural sea arch at Gewni Island. There are tremendous views of unspoilt cliffs and beyond, to the islands of Skomer and Skokholm. Continue to St Non's Bay and the panoramic ruins of St Non's Chapel, said to be the birthplace of St David himself, before returning to St David's (B).

Start the day with a small detour to the Green Bridge of Wales, a spectacular natural sea arch with superb sea vistas. The route then hugs the coast to Huntsman's Leap, an impressive narrow chasm cut deep into the cliff face, and the iconic St Govan's chapel. Spot the resident otters at the nature reserve in Bosherton, famous for its resplendent waterlily strewn lakes, then it's truly sublime walking over flat limestone cliffs to the stunning Barafundle Bay. We meet you in Stackpole Quay and take you to Tenby, home for the next 3 nights (B).

A morning transfer to pretty Manorbier with its dune backed shores and brooding Norman castle ruins, then set off for King's Quoit, a Neolithic burial chamber perched high on the cliff top overlooking Manorbier Bay. Then it's on to the impressive arches, hidden caves and rocky coves of Skrinkle Haven. There's the option to detour around the Lydstep Point for more superb vistas, before you take to the cliffs again as you head to Tenby (B).

We take you to Amroth and its 'submerged forest' - a series of 5000 year old tree stumps which magically appear on the beach at low tide. Continue to Wiseman's Bridge, a tiny village with a rocky beach, before heading through disused mining railway tunnels to picturesque Saundersfoot. A fish and chip lunch overlooking the lovely beach perhaps, then an undulating woodland path takes you back to Tenby (B).

Depart Tenby after breakfast (B).
