Itinerary

Bienvenido! Welcome to Lima, Peru. This city, known as the “City of the Kings”, is rich in tradition and culture. Upon arrival, you will be met and transferred to your hotel.

Fly to Cuzco, the ancient Inca capital. Drive to the Sacred Valley, stopping off at Awana Kancha llama farm, then head to the market town of Pisac. (B/D)

Enjoy a walking tour of Ollantaytambo, the oldest continuously occupied settlement in the Americas. You’re Invited: Visit a community for the chance to meet the students and teachers at the local school. (B)

Board the Vistadome train to Machu Picchu. Mystery still surrounds these well preserved ruins and your expert local guide will share stories and knowledge to reveal some of the mysteries of this “Lost City of the Incas”. (B/D)

Spend the morning exploring the quaint town of Aguas Calientes or have a final visit to Machu Picchu (own expense) before re-boarding the Vistadome train back to Ollantaytambo. Return by coach to Cuzco. (B)

Take a guided walking tour of the city of Cuzco, a World Heritage listed site. Visit the Inca temple of Coricancha, head through cobblestone streets and past ancient Inca buildings to Cuzco’s fascinating central market. Explore Inca ruins on the outskirts of the city including the fortress of Sacsayhuaman, and finish with a visit to the beautiful main plaza and its surrounding cathedrals. Tonight, dine at a local restaurant that specialises in nouveau Andean cuisine. (B/D)

Fly to Lake Titicaca and enjoy an excursion to the unique floating islands of Uros. Entire communities are built on these fascinating islands and your guide will introduce you to the unique lifestyle of the Uros. (B/D)

Soak up the surroundings before transferring to the airport for our flight to Lima. (B)

Fly to the World Heritage listed Iguazú Falls. Set in a tropical jungle, the enormous river spills over towering cliffs to create a thunderous roar. (B/D)

Tour the Argentinian side of the falls. Board the ecological train and ride to the “Devil’s Throat” viewpoint. Gaze in awe at one of the most spectacular views that Iguazú has to offer. (B)

This morning tour the majestic Brazilian falls. Make your way through the rainforest up close to the base of the falls for outstanding views. Fly to Rio de Janeiro and famous Copacabana Beach. Rio is a city full of life, colour and vibrancy mixed with beautiful tropical coastal scenery. (B)

Tour Rio de Janeiro. Ride the cogwheel railway up Corcovado Mountain to the famous “Christ the Redeemer” statue, then take the cable car to the top of Sugarloaf Mountain for amazing views of the city. You’re Invited: Have some fun with a visit to the Sambadrome, the site of Rio Carnival where we try on colourful carnival costumes (Sambadrome may be closed due to Rio Carnival period). This evening, feast like a local with a typical Brazilian Churrascaria. (B/D)

Fly to Buenos Aires, Argentina, a country rich in history and culture. With a strong European influence, Buenos Aires is wonderful city to discover. (B)

Get acquainted with this city known as the “Paris of the Americas”. Visit the central square, Plaza de Mayo, travel through the charming streets of San Telmo which is the home of Tango, then down the colourful roads of La Boca. You’re Invited: This evening, have a taste of tradition with a tango show and dinner. (B/D)

Transfer to the pier and board your luxurious Holland America cruise ship. Check into your comfortable ocean view stateroom (upgrade to verandah stateroom additional expense) and settle-in for an unforgettable voyage around Cape Horn and through the magnificent Chilean Fjords. Reach the remote Falkland Islands, a country with a long and fascinating history, unique culture and natural beauty. Weather permitting, we visit the capital Port Stanley, which is easily explored on foot. (shore excursions at own expense). (B/L/D)

Cruise back to the mainland and the spectacular Patagonian Argentina. The Strait of Magellan lies between mainland South America and the island of Tierra del Fuego. It is a narrow and important stretch of water and an important trade route. (B/L/D)

Punta Arenas grew to prominence due to trade through the Magellan Strait. Today, it is the largest town in Southern Chile. Sail into the Cockburn Channel connecting the Strait of Magellan to the Beagle Channel, named after the HMS Beagle that carried Charles Darwin through this region and on to the Galápagos Islands. Finish the day cruising through Glacier Alley, an extraordinary piece of nature with numerous tongues of glaciers that snake down to the sea (shore excursions at own expense). (B/L/D)

The southernmost town in the world, where dominating peaks loom on three sides and the fourth opens to the Beagle Channel. Ushuaia is a quaint town perfect for exploring on foot. (B/L/D)

Known as a landmark in cruising and navigation, Cape Horn is the most southerly mainland point in the world. (B/L/D)

Continue through the iconic and breath-taking scenery of the Chilean Fjords. Spend a glorious day cruising through Tierra del Fuego and the snow-capped peaks and ethereal blue glaciers of Canal Sarmiento. All kinds of marine animals live in this dramatic landscape. (B/L/D)

Sail through the beautiful maze of islets known as the Chilean Fjords. Renowned as being some of the most spectacular in the world and rivalling those of Norway and Alaska, this region consists of a 1,000-mile maze of virgin-forested islands, glistening glaciers and beautifully sculpted mountains. Puerto Montt is the gateway to the scenic Lakes District and contains a series of pine forests, icy lakes, hamlets and snow-capped volcanoes. (B/L/D)

Spend the day cruising the coast of Chile reflecting on all the marvels you have seen. (B/L/D)

Disembark in the morning at San Antonio and bid farewell to your crew. Transfer to Valparaiso, a steep amphitheatre renowned for its brightly coloured residences and church steeples. UNESCO has declared it a World Heritage site. Ride one of the city’s many funiculars and take in the views. Make our way to Santiago, the country’s capital. Tonight, enjoy a farewell dinner. (B/D)
