Itinerary

Welcome to Adelaide, South Australia’s capital, renowned for its gourmet delights and thriving culture. From the Airport be transferred to your hotel. Enjoy a welcome dinner and meet your Tour Director and travelling companions. (D)

Departing Adelaide, what lies ahead is rugged, beautiful, and spectacular. Settle into your cabin and watch the rolling pastoral lands of South Australia from your window or meet your fellow travellers in the lounge car. Before long some of the oldest rock formations in the world, the Flinders Ranges, come into view. As darkness envelops the rugged outback, it’s time to indulge in a regionally inspired dinner and all-inclusive fine wines and beverages. (B/D)

Begin with a freshly brewed coffee or juice as the day dawns at Marla, an outback outpost in the remote reaches of South Australia. It is here, deep inland, that you will enjoy a one of a kind experience, as you watch the desert come to life at sunrise. All aboard for brunch as you make your way through the MacDonnell Ranges to Alice Springs. Alice is an iconic Red Centre outpost. 1,500 kilometres from the nearest major city, it may be remote, but offers plenty to explore – home to doctors who fly, rivers that run dry, and a cast of colourful characters.

Your time in the ‘capital out of the outback’ offers numerous opportunities to explore its historic legacy and unique environment. Visit Anzac Hill for a panoramic view of Alice Springs before a visit to Alice Springs School of the Air established in 1951 to provide educational service and activities to isolated school children. (B/D)

Leaving Alice Springs this morning we travel on Lasseter Highway to Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park and the 'Red Centre' Australia, Uluru for the first time. Enjoy the changing colours of Uluru at sunset. (B)

Start the day filled with wonder as the sun rises over Uluru. See Mutitjulu waterhole and visit the cultural centre. Discover the mysteries of Kata Tjuta and Walpa Gorge during an afternoon visit. This evening see the Field of Light Art installation come to light. The field of light is 50,000 frosted glass spheres of light in colours of ochre, deep violet, blue and white. (B)

DiscoverMORE View Uluru and Kata Tjuta from the air (at additional cost, must be booked before departure)Travel to the rugged Kings Canyon. Walk along the canyon floor for a relaxed walk or climb to the rim of the canyon for spectacular views of Watarrka National Park. (B/D)

Pass the breathtaking MacDonnell Ranges as you approach Alice Springs, Australia’s most famous outback town. Visit the Royal Flying Doctor Service and learn what an important role this service plays in outback life. (B/D)

Continuing north on the Sturt Highway see Wycliffe Well, the UFO capital of Australia. Discover the Karlu Karlu / Devils Marbles. Standing up to 6 metres high and formed millions of years ago they continue to crack and change. The Warmungu Aboriginal People believe them to be the fossilized eggs of the Rainbow serpent. (B/D)

Visit the famous Daly Waters Pub and the collection of what previous guests have left behind. Visit Mataranka thermal springs, made famous in the novel We of the Never Never. (B/D)

Cruise past the sheer sandstone cliffs of the Katherine Gorge located in Nitmiluk National Park, located on the lands of the Jawoyn people. Learn about their association with this land on your two-gorge cruise. Our final stop is the cosmopolitan city of Darwin the capital of the Northern Territory. Enjoy a farewell dinner and reminisce with your newfound friends. (B/D)
