Itinerary
Welcome to Croatia! This morning, you'll meet your fellow active travellers in Split – plus your new Contiki crew, which includes onboard chefs and a Bike Guide who'll join us for the whole week. We'll sail to Hvar, then dine alfresco on board – the best way to fuel our muscles for the adventure ahead! Tonight you're free to explore Hvar in your own way. (L/D) Stay: Sail Boat (Split, Croatia)
Today begins with a gentle hike in Hvar.
After that, we're off to Korčula – an island of its own that promises even more staggering beauty. Bike ride time. Your heart rate will increase steadily, but your appreciation for this island will soar! Think peachy sunsets and cobbled streets, right by the beach. Oh yeah. (B)
After a wholesome morning hike, we'll make our way from beautiful Korčula to Dubrovnik. In the words of Barnard Shaw, “Those that seek paradise on earth should seek it in Dubrovnik.” Let's do this! Paradise as promised. Here you can join a city tour with a local guide, taking in the rugged cliffs and the 2km(! ) of old town walls, then it's time for a much-deserved dinner at a local restaurant. (B)
A full day in Dubrovnik. There'll be a guided bike tour today where you can take in all the splendid sights you missed yesterday. Apart from that, today's your own to explore this mesmerising UNESCO World Heritage Site however you like. Don't miss the Old Town, the Minceta Tower and Fortress Lovrijenac (or as it's now known, King's Landing from GoT). (B)
From one paradise to another. This morning, we make our way to Trstenik. Hike, bike, Captain's dinner. Lather up that sun lotion, it's a double whammy of active today – with a guided hike and guided bike ride in Trstenik. Look out for palms, olive trees, colourful reefs and a stunning view of the Korčula archipelago, topped off with an optional Captain's Dinner this fine evening. (B/L)
Off to the mainland. Don't worry, it's still preddy. Biking on the Croatian Riviera. Get set to weep at the beautiful Biokovo mountains as we go (and don't get us started on the beaches). (B/L)
We'll take one last guided hike this morning, and then we really gotta split… back to Split. To the boat, crew (for one last time)! Sunsets, sunsets, sunsets, optional dinners. Today you're free to explore Split on your own or with your Contiki crew.
Tonight we'll meet in the heart of the city for one last optional dinner… where we can share what we learnt about the city's Roman heritage, and GoT trivia of course. (B/L)
And there you have it, the astonishing beauty of Croatia and its cluster of islands… ticked off your list. Or staying there coz you wanna go again. Who can say? (B)
