Overview

Book online and enjoy exclusive savings on Contiki's 8 Day Croatia Sail with Cycling & Yoga. Like to keep active when you travel, but also know when to unwind? We put this trip together just for you. When you're not cruising around paradise isles on your converted racing yacht or taking a dip in the glittering sea, you'll be cycling through olive groves, hiking to spectacular viewpoints and getting your fill of the best of Croatian cuisine. There's yoga, too, so you're guaranteed to start each day feeling fresh.

Itinerary

Welcome to Opatija! After meeting and greeting our Contiki crewmates at the beautiful harbour this morning we're headed on our boat to Krk Island. We'll enjoy lunch on the ferry towards Krk, the largest of the Kvarner islands with immense variety of villages, gentle green promenades, bare rocky wilderness, tiny isles and hundreds of hidden bays and beaches. We'll stroll through the old city centre and admire the huge cathedral complex, before settling in for the night. (L)

This morning we're hopping on our bikes for the first time, taking a cycling tour through the lush Mediterranean vegetation, olive groves and dry-stone walls to the biggest field on the island - Vrbnik field, which produces an iconic golden-yellow wine - the Žlahtina. A rest is well-earned, so we'll kick back for a while and have the chance to taste some wine, cheese and prosciutto.

Feeling refuelled and refreshed, we'll journey onto Punat Valley, with spectacular views of the island of Košljun. Back in Krk we're headed to Rab Island - known as the 'island of love.' As the evening draws in we'll find out why, falling head over heels with the romantic harbour, medieval walls, Romanesque church towers and ancient facades. What a day - and we're just getting started. Bike: 30 km Difficulty: 3/5 (B/D)

After breakfast in the shadow of some beautiful church towers, we're headed on a hiking tour to the highest point of the island - Kamenjak hill and Straža peak (409 m) to enjoy the stunning views of the Velebit mountain to the east and Kvarner Bay on the west.

Falling in love with every inch, we'll then make our descent to the ship for lunch. After refuelling it's time to hop on our bikes again to tour the greenest part of the island - a thickened area called Dundo. Feeling the heat? We've got you - it's time to take a swim in the picturesque bay of St. Mara. It's a hard life. Hike: 11 km Difficulty: 4/5 Bike: 16 km Difficulty: 1/5 (B/L)

Today we're sailing to the neighboring island of Pag. We'll take a bike tour from the small fishing village of Tovarnele to Novalja. Winding through ancient olive trees and even more ancient stone walls we'll do our best to avoid the many wandering sheep. This place is world-famous for its cheese so it's a good idea to get stuck in along the way. Upon arrival in Novalja, we continue our cruise to the island of flowers - Ilovik. Afternoon walks through the island will be spent in a haze, absorbing scents of oleander, eucalyptus, palms and roses. Bike: 21 km Difficulty: 2/5 Hike: 6 km Difficulty: 2/5 (B/L/D)

After breakfast this morning we're headed for Mali Lošinj, before hiking to the Sveti Ivan (250 m) hill where you can enjoy a gorgeous view of the Lošinj archipelago. After kicking back and soaking up the scenery, we'll descend towards Veli Lošinj, a picturesque village with coloured houses and gardens.

After heading back to the ship for lunch, we've got a laid back bike tour this afternoon as we journey through bays surrounded by pine trees on the dreamy Čikat peninsula. Tonight we'll visit the famous waterfront of Mali Lošinj with its famous waterfront and visit the Museum of Apoxyomenos - the bronze statue of a young athlete. The evening is all ours to explore the rich local cuisine. Hike: 11 km Difficulty: 3/5 Bike: 15 km Difficulty: 1/5 (B/L)

Today we're headed on our bikes to the small villages of Ćunski and Nerezine below the dominant peak of Lošinj - Osoršćica. Then we'll continue onto the ancient old town of Osor. In Roman times, Osor was an important centre of trade and a vital route to the ports of the Northern Adriatic. Then we'll head to Cres with some free time to explore this wild, sparsely populated island, enjoying the hidden coves, ancient towns and one unforgettable sunset. Bike: 22 km Difficulty: 2/5 (B/L)

Today we'll enjoy some morning cycling around Cres town, stopping off at the cute seaside cafes and shops - the perfect place to grab some olive oil or artisan gifts to take home. Lunch is served as we head towards the mainland and stop at Lovran for a lovely walking tour on the famous Franz Joseph promenade, better known as the Lungomare.

Today is ours to enjoy the numerous cafes and restaurants in Opatija or at the nearby fisherman's village of Volosko. We have the option to end on a high tonight, with a group meal of Croatian specialities such as fresh seafood and local wine. Guys, it's been emotional. Bike: 15 km Difficulty: 1/5 Hike: 8 km Difficulty: 1/5 (B/L)

Our trip ends after breakfast today. Swap details and start planning your next adventure. Anyone for Greece? Or maybe somewhere further afield? (B)
