Welcome to Jordan! This afternoon we'll take a short city-sightseeing tour, including the Citadel and the Roman Theatre before enjoying a welcome drink with our fellow travellers this evening.
3 Jerash Excursion
Today we visit the beautifully preserved Roman city of Jerash, as well as the impressive Ajloun Castle. (B/D) Special Experience: Tonight we take a cooking class, where we learn the delicious local, Middle Eastern cuisine and enjoy our culinary creations for a group welcome dinner.
4 Amman - Madaba - Dana
We head to Madaba this morning, visiting the Greek Orthodox Church of St George and the biblical site of Mt Nebo. (B/D) Special Experience: Next we head to the spectacular UNESCO World Heritage-listed Dana Biosphere Reserve where we walk a section of the Dana Village Trail.
5 Dana - Petra
Our first stop today is the 12th century Crusader castle of Shobak. Then, as we make our way towards incredible Petra, we'll stop to visit 'Little Petra', also known as Siq al-Barid, a Nabataean site characterised by buildings carved into the sandstone canyon walls. (B/D)
Special Experience: Today we visit the famous Lost City of Petra. Carved into the sheer rockface by the Nabataeans more than 2,000 years ago, it was an important junction for the silk and trade routes. (B/D)
7 Petra - Wadi Rum
We make the journey to Wadi Rum. Arriving in one of the most stunning desertscapes in the world, we'll take an exciting jeep tour, guided by local Bedouin tribesmen. We'll spend the night in a Bedouin-style desert camp. (B/L/D)
8 Wadi Rum - Aqaba (Red Sea)
This morning we'll continue south to picturesque Aqaba on the Red Sea and enjoy a cruise through the crystal-clear waters of the Aqaba Marine Park. (B/L)
9 Aqaba (Red Sea) - Dead Sea
Today we venture north to the lowest point on Earth - the Dead Sea. (B/L/D) Special Experience: Take a dip in the salt-drenched waters of the Dead Sea where you can float without trying and cover your body in its therapeutic mud, said to have amazing benefits for your skin.
10 Dead Sea - Amman - Cairo - Giza
Today we transfer to the airport for our flight to Cairo. Enjoy the afternoon at leisure before a group dinner to welcome us to Egypt. (B/D) Special Experience: Tonight we take a cooking class and enjoy our culinary creations for dinner.
We begin our tour at the oldest structures in existence, the amazing Great Pyramids of Giza. We'll visit the nearby Great Sphinx and also discover the ancient capital of Memphis and the Step Pyramid of Sakkara. (B/D)
12 Giza - Alexandria
After breakfast we travel to the city of Alexandria on Egypt's north coast and take a half day tour. Highlights include the National Museum, Pompey's Pillar, the Catacombs, the New Bibliotheca and the Montazah Palace. Our last stop is for a photo at the Citadel of Qaitbay, a spectacular 15th century fortress overlooking the Mediterranean. (B/L)
13 Alexandria - El Alamein - Cairo
Our journey takes us westward through the dunes along the Mediterranean coast, following the route of Field Marshal Montgomery to El Alamein. (B) Special Experience: We visit the Commonwealth War Cemetery associated with the Battle of El Alamein.
14 Cairo - Luxor
This morning we fly to Luxor in Upper Egypt. Here we'll explore the fascinating Karnak Temple, once linked to Luxor Temple by an Avenue of Sphinxes. (B)

16 Luxor - Nile Cruise
Our first stop today is the Valley of the Kings. We'll be able to descend into some of the tombs to see the elaborate hieroglyphic paintings. We'll then discover the Temple of Hatshepsut and the Colossi of Memnon. (B/L/D) Embark Cruise: This afternoon we board our Nile River cruise ship.
17 Nile Cruise
We set sail for Edfu this morning, crossing the lock at Esna and continuing south. (B/L/D)
18 Nile Cruise
This morning we visit the magnificent Temple of Horus, dedicated to the Falcon God. Tonight we'll experience a traditional galabeya party on board. (B/L/D)
19 Nile Cruise
Special Experience: An early start this morning to cross the desert. Our destination is the incredible twin temples of Abu Simbel. The temples were originally carved out of the mountainside during the reign of Pharaoh Ramses II in the 13th century BC, as a monument to himself and his queen, Nefertari. (B/L/D)
20 Nile Cruise - Aswan
Disembark Cruise: We farewell the crew ready for more incredible sightseeing. Today we explore Aswan. Highlights of our sightseeing include the High Dam, the picturesque Philae Temple on Agilkia Island, and the Unfinished Obelisk. This afternoon we'll relax on a cruise along the Nile on board a traditional felucca. (B)
21 Aswan - Cairo
We'll transfer to the airport for our flight back to Cairo. (B)
Our day begins in the heart of lively Cairo with a visit to the world-famous Egyptian Museum. We'll then visit the 12th century Saladin Citadel of Cairo and the Mohammed Ali Mosque. Our last stop is the 14th century Khan el-Khalili Bazaar. Tonight we'll enjoy a group farewell dinner. (B/D)
23 Depart Cairo
Today we begin our journey home. (B)
