Itinerary

Welcome to Morocco and the city of Casablanca! Meet your fellow travellers this evening for a welcome drink.

Today we explore the buzzing streets of Casablanca where we see the central market, Hassan II Mosque and Ain Diab Esplanade. Next we travel to the magical ‘Rose City', Marrakesh, home to fine gardens, palaces and mosques. (B/D)

Marrakesh is the real heartbeat of Morocco and today we visit the Saadian Tombs, Bahia Palace, the Koutoubia Mosque and the famous medina. (B/L/D) Special Experience: Discover the distinct flavours of Morocco at a cooking class and enjoy the delicious results for lunch. Special Experience: Tonight we'll make our way through Marrakesh's buzzing Jemaa el-Fnaa Square to enjoy a traditional Moroccan dinner.

Today we head to Fez. Considered the cultural and religious centre of Morocco, Fez is a window into the Middle Ages. It's known for its famous leather dyeing vats and its medina is quite possibly the world's largest car-free urban space! (B/D)

Today we'll explore the narrow, cobbled lanes and covered souks of the famous medina, see the Karaouine Mosque and enjoy lunch in the medina's palace. We'll also watch an ancient tannery in operation. (B/L)

Chefchaouen is our destination today, known for the stunning blue-washed buildings of its old town and steep cobbled lanes. (B)

This morning we'll explore Chefchaouen's picturesque streets on foot on a city tour. Later we hike to the Chefchaouen viewing platform and take in the incredible panoramic views. (B)

We'll travel to Morocco's capital, the UNESCO World Heritage-listed city of Rabat. On the way, we'll explore Meknes, one of Morocco's four imperial cities. Here we'll see the Bab el Mansour Gate and the lively old medina. We'll also make a stop to see the impressive Roman ruins of Volubilis, dating back to the 3rd century BC. (B/D)

This morning we'll transfer back to Casablanca before our flight to Nairobi. (B)

Karibu to Kenya! This afternoon we'll explore the bustling streets of Nairobi and take a tour of the city centre. We'll see some incredible sights, such as the Norfolk Hotel, Jamia Mosque and the City Hall. Special Experience: Next we will visit Brown's Cheese Factory where we enjoy a cheese tasting and take a tour.

Today we'll visit the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, run by Dame Daphne Sheldrick, which rescues and rehabilitates elephants and rhinos orphaned by ivory and horn poachers. Then get up close and personal with the giraffes at the Giraffe Centre. Later we enjoy lunch at the Karen Blixen Coffee Garden, followed by a visit to the adjoining Museum. (B/L)

Escaping the city, we travel north and cross the equator before arriving in rugged Samburu National Reserve. After lunch we'll head out on our first game drive! Samburu attracts some spectacular wildlife, including giraffes, buffalo and zebras. (B/L/D)

Keep an eye out for Samburu's diverse range of wildlife as we explore the reserve on morning and afternoon game drives. (B/L/D)

Today we travel to Mt Kenya, Kenya's highest mountain. Special Experience: Visit a Samburu village and school to learn about ‘a day in the life' of a Samburu woman and her children. We'll also visit the Nanyuki Spinners and Weavers, a place where women are trained in the craft of spinning and weaving, empowering them to earn a sustainable living. On arrival in Mt Kenya we'll explore the forest on foot with a ranger. (B/L/D)

Special Experience: Visit Thomson's Falls en route to Lake Nakuru. At 74 metres high, this scenic waterfall is located on the Ewaso Ng'iro River and upstream, one of the highest hippo pools in Kenya can be found. We'll then take a spectacular afternoon game drive through Lake Nakuru National Park, a sanctuary for water birds and endangered rhinos. (B/L/D)

We'll participate in a tree-planting ceremony at our lodge this morning before we travel to Lake Naivasha, the home of the late Joy Adamson, author of 'Born Free'. After lunch, we drive to Hell's Gate National Park where we go for a hike, admiring the spectacular scenery of towering cliffs, extinct volcanoes and deep gorges. We then return to the rich heritage and idyllic scenery of Lake Naivasha, the perfect place to enjoy afternoon tea and visit the Elsamere Conservation Centre, containing memorabilia from the 'Born Free' film. (B/L/D) Please Note: Due to recent flash flooding, Hell's Gate National Park has been closed until further notice. A boat trip on Lake Naivasha will be enjoyed in its place.

We depart early this morning for the incredible Maasai Mara. As the jewel in Africa's crown, it is home to the most spectacular array of wildlife. Special Experience: Enjoy a Swahili cooking class at Sarova Mara Game Camp, first exploring the in-house herb and vegetable garden. Search for an array of wildlife, including lions, wildebeest and zebras in the Mara's rolling grasslands during an afternoon game drive. (B/L/D)

An early start for a day of unforgettable game safaris through the Maasai Mara. This evening we'll be treated to a special bush dinner. (B/L/D)

Today we begin our journey home via Nairobi. (B)

Bunnik's Morocco and Kenya in September 0 , NSW, Australia, Sep 2019
Thank you Jemma for organising our trip so well, even last minute clarification of baggage restrictions. We loved Kenya... Saw so many different animals so close to our vehicles and the guides, accommodation and itinerary were first class. Morocco was fine with a great guide and driver but suffered in comparison with the excitement of being on safari ...read more in Kenya. Unfortunately the minibus in Morocco was not up to scratch, seat cushions were worn out and one person on our tour was not a suitable participant for the tour activities.
