Itinerary

You'll be met on arrival in Hobart and transferred to your ship, the MS Caledonian Sky. Meet your captain and crew at tonight's welcome reception and dinner. Stay: Eleven nights, MS Caledonian Sky (D)

Travel by Zodiac to Port Arthur penal settlement. Your full day here includes a guided tour of the penitentiary and Port Arthur Gallery, with time to explore the gardens and the rest of the site. (B/L/D)

Today we will explore Freycinet National Park and surrounding areas. The majestic beauty of Freycinet's granite mountains and white, sandy beaches have long been admired by naturalists, artists and writers, and the area was reserved as a National Park in 1916. (B/L/D)

This morning visit the Beaconsfield Mine & Heritage Centre, exploring interactive exhibitions that recount the history of Beaconsfield and the Tamar Valley. After lunch on board, explore the Tamar Valley, enjoying a Signature Experience. (B/L/D)

  • Journey along the spectacular Tamar Valley wine route, stopping for tastings at Pipers Brook Vineyard and Jansz Tasmania, two of Australia's leading producers of sparkling wine.

From Burnie, board a coach to Cradle Mountain. Take in the rugged natural beauty of the mountain and the surrounding national park before setting out to explore Dove Lake on foot. (B/L/D)

A morning tour of this port town will take you to the Makers' Workshop artisan centre and Emu Valley Rhododendron Gardens. Then visit the boutique Hellyers Road Distillery for a spot of whiskey tasting. (B/L/D)

Enjoy a day on board your vessel to relax and unwind. Perhaps take in a lecture in your ship's onboard lounge. (B/L/D)

Explore Kangaroo Island today, starting with a visit to Seal Bay. Here, join a local expert and learn about the Australian sea lion as you journey along a boardwalk into the heart of their colony. Continue your wildlife encounter at the Kangaroo Island Wildlife Park. With over 150,000 hectares of forest lost due to the fires, many koalas are being cared for here as they recover. After lunch, visit Flinders Chase National Park, located on the western end of the island. This rugged wilderness area is home to stunning coastal scenery including the iconic Admirals Arch and Remarkable Rocks. (B/L/D)

Enjoy a Signature Experience this morning. Later, set sail for Port Lincoln. (B/L/D)

Signature Experiences:
  • Board a purpose-built boat and cruise through the oyster leases while learning about the famous Coffin Bay Pacific Oyster industry. Enjoy a tasting of fresh-from-the-ocean oysters before travelling to Coffin Bay National Park by coach. Here, admire stunning Almonta Beach, where majestic sand dunes meet azure waters. Keep an eye out for schools of salmon, dolphins or seals as you walk along the beach. You'll also visit Point Avoid lookout.

On a tour of Port Lincoln, head to the marina to learn about the fishing practises of the local prawn and tuna fleets and how they are preserving the fisheries for future generations. Then, choose your sightseeing option. (B/L/D)

Freedom of Choice:
  • Sample some of the seafood and wine that this region is renowned for at a tasting at the award-winning Boston Bay Winery. Alternatively, visit Axel Stenross Maritime Museum, where you'll discover the story of Finnish carpenter Axel Stenross and the lost craft of wooden boat building.

Today you'll visit Hahndorf, Australia's oldest surviving German settlement, before travelling to St Hugo Wines for lunch and a wine tasting. Later, enjoy free time in the town of Tanunda, known as the heart of the Barossa. (B/L/D)

Disembark for the final time and transfer to the airport for your onward flight. (B)
