Itinerary

Depart the Windsor Hotel in Melbourne at 9:30am for a private tour of the Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria, to see the new arid garden, as well as Guilfoyle's volcano. This afternoon, attend a private demonstration to learn about ‘Ikebana', the Japanese art of flower arranging. This evening, we are transported into a hidden wonderland, as the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) presents 25 of Australia's leading floral creatives. works of art, curated with funds raised by the NGV Women's Association, over 60 years. Early this morning, see where our creative florists source their flowers, with a visit to a wholesale flower market. The market provides cut flowers, foliage, plants and sundries to the flower industry. We arrive in Geelong this afternoon and explore the Geelong Botanic Gardens, which places a priority on its sustainability and low water use.

This evening, our Botanical Guide, Sophie Holloway, leads us in a private demonstration of the art of flower arranging. Sophie has a passion for floral design and was a member of the management team at the Mandarin Oriental HK, where she oversaw the floral displays and seasonal decorations. Learn all about the tricks of the trade before enjoying dinner as a group. Stay: Geelong, The Novotel Hotel (B/D)

This morning, visit a private garden before arriving in Ocean Grove. Here we will visit The Hive, the gallery and studio of bronze sculpture artist Will Wilson. See a display of works by local artists and hear from Will himself about what it is like to create a stand at the Chelsea Flower Show. Enjoy a delicious lunch at the quirky Oakdene Vineyards, before stopping in at a nursery on our way back to Melbourne. Your tour concludes at approximately 5:00pm, as we return to the Windsor Hotel in Melbourne. (B/L)
