Itinerary

Arrive in tropical Darwin, gateway to Australia's Top End, where a warm A&K welcome awaits.

Meet your fellow travellers on an afternoon city tour as you discover the highlights of Darwin including historic Fanny Bay Gaol, Government House, Stokes Hill Wharf, and the beautiful Botanical Gardens. Peruse the impressive Aboriginal art collection and Cyclone Tracy Exhibition at the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory. Enjoy a welcome dinner together ahead of tomorrow's adventures. Stay: Adina Apartment Hotel Darwin Waterfront (D)

Today begins with an off-road adventure as you travel via the original but now disused railway line to the original Rum Jungle settlement on the edge of Litchfield National Park, and learn about its storied origin dating back to the 1870s. Cool off in the refreshing, natural pools of Buley Rock Hole in Litchfield National Park then head to Adelaide River where you'll enjoy lunch in a memorabilia-filled outback pub – famous for housing the stuffed remains of ‘Charlie' the buffalo from the movie Crocodile Dundee.

On your way back to Darwin, visit Australia's largest war cemetery and the Strauss Airfield at Noonamah near the Stuart Highway, one of many airstrips set up in the Northern Territory in 1942 to deter the impending Japanese invasion. Stay: Adina Apartment Hotel Darwin Waterfront ( B/L)

Early this morning, transfer by private charter aircraft to your accommodation at Mount Borradaile - a sacred aboriginal site nestled against the Arnhem Land escarpment.

On arrival you will be taken on a guided walk through some 50,000 years of Aboriginal culture in a spectacular landscape of wetlands and floodplains set against rugged mountain ranges, containing some of the most stunning Indigenous rock art galleries in the world.

Davidson's Arnhemland Safaris Lodge is located on an exclusive lease of 700-square kilometres of pristine wilderness in northwest Arnhem Land. Nestled against the Arnhem Land escarpment, this landscape of rugged ranges fringed by idyllic billabongs allows an immersion in unique ecosystems teeming with birdlife and crocodiles as well as bush food and medicinal plants. Valleys, overhangs and caves carved out by an ancient sea have been occupied by Aboriginal people for over 50,000 years with world-class galleries of rock art, occupation and burial sites.

Following lunch, there is time to enjoy the activities available at the lodge. Try your hand at barramundi fishing, relax poolside or cool down with a dip in the natural swimming hole. Stay: Davidson's Arnhemland Safaris Lodge ( B/L/D)

Today you will visit the ancient rock art sites of Awunbarna (Mount Borradaile) on a private tour with a local Indigenous expert who will share the traditional insight behind the meaning and the stories depicted in the ancient art.

After lunch back at camp and time to relax, embark on a sunset billabong cruise. Keep your eyes peeled for the kaleidoscope of plants and wildlife, enjoying sundowners on the water as you drift along. Tonight, enjoy dinner at the lodge. Stay: Davidson's Arnhemland Safaris Lodge ( B/L/D)

Enjoy the activities at the lodge before departing mid-morning for your flight southwest to Bullo River Station, an outback working cattle station and conservation sanctuary set on 500,000 pristine acres of privately owned terrain. One of Australia's most beautiful stations, its pristine landscape is carved with gorges and waterfalls, remote waterholes, and several Aboriginal rock art sites.

Familiarise yourself with the property on an introductory station tour. Visit the cattle yards and nearby paddocks as you learn about day-to-day life on the land and the operation functions in a considered and sustainable way. Freshen up in your elegant accommodation before pre-dinner drinks and your evening meal. Stay: Bullo River Station ( B/L/D)

Bullo is a birdwatchers paradise with over 200 resident and migratory bird species - early risers may opt for a spot of birdwatching at the billabong before breakfast.

Today you can join the station hands and experience life on a working cattle station, mucking in with daily chores including bore checks, calf feeding and lick runs before cooling off in Marlee's Bath, a picturesque waterhole at one of the stock camps. A treat is in store with a viewing of Bullo River's Aboriginal rock art sites hidden in the station's rugged red cliffs and ridge lines, thought to be the work of the Miriuwung-Gajerrong people who lived on and managed the land before white settlement.

After a late lunch at the homestead, there's time to relax before a scenic helicopter flight giving you a bird's eye view of the awe-inspiring station landscapes from above. Tonight, a memorable dining experience awaits as you head to Jenson's Boab, beside the Victoria River. Enjoy drinks at sunset before a campfire dinner under a blanket of stars. Stay: Bullo River Station ( B/L/D)

Keen anglers may like to cast a line for barramundi or Mangrove Jack before breakfast - a great way to start the day before farewelling Bullo River. Re-join your aircraft for the short flight over the border into Western Australia. Glide over the country's most stunning river systems - the Ord River, man-made Lake Argyle, Lissadell and Texas Downs stations and the impressive Osmond Range, concluding with a stunning circuit over the Bungle Bungles, Purnululu National Park.

Back on land, your next adventure begins at the remote Bellburn Airstrip where an expert local guide will take you in amongst the famous eroded towers and orange banded beehives of the Bungle Bungles. Visit Cathedral Gorge where you can experience first-hand the mind-blowing natural acoustics created by the towering cliffs. Your guide will lead you along Piccaninny Creek and explain the importance of the native flora and fauna and the Indigenous six seasons. Enjoy a picnic lunch with an incredible view.

After an amazing day of exploration, re-join your aircraft for the flight to Broome where dinner is in a local restaurant before retiring for the night at your accommodation - The Pearle of Cable Beach, a stunning property set amongst lush tropical gardens, and inspired by the exotic pavilion homes of Southeast Asia. Stay: The Pearle of Cable Beach ( B/L/D)

Be immersed in the laidback tropical vibe of Broome as you discover the major landmarks and historic sites with a local guide. Hear fascinating stories of the city's colourful heritage that have shaped it into the rich, multi-cultural community it is today. Your last stop is Pearl Luggers, in the heart of Chinatown, where you'll be treated to a Pearling Master's High Tea and an historical tour focusing on the two restored luggers which reveals Broome's intriguing pearling heritage and the hardships encountered by the divers.

The remainder of your day is at leisure to continue exploring the Broome township, or you may choose to spend some time relaxing on one of the stunning nearby beaches. This evening, toast your journey with newfound friends at a farewell dinner. Stay: The Pearle of Cable Beach or similar ( B/D)

After breakfast transfer to Broome Airport where your journey comes to an end. (B)
