Arrive Amsterdam, Embark Ship

Upon arrival into Amsterdam, be met and transferred to your premium river ship. After settling in, meet your Cruise Director and fellow passengers at a Captain's Welcome Reception. Stay 14 Nights: aboard your premium Travelmarvel river ship (D)

Amsterdam, Utrecht

Clustered by historic houses and studded with low bridges, Amsterdam's network of 17th-century canals lends the city its nickname, 'Venice of the North'. Today, you'll board a glass-top boat and glide past the city's impressive waterside facades. Back on land, enjoy some free time before travelling by coach via Rembrandt's Windmill, immortalised in the artist's paintings. Meet your ship in Utrecht and set off along the Rhine River as you enjoy a special Gala Dinner. (B/L/D)

Cologne, Augustusburg Castle

As you cruise into the riverside city of Cologne, head to the Sun Deck and watch as the magnificent twin spires of its famous cathedral, the Kölner Dom, appear on the horizon. Disembark your ship and take a short drive to the town of Brühl. Like a Local - pay a visit to World Heritage-listed Augustusburg Castle and Falkenlust hunting lodge, the lavish rococo-style residences of archbishop-elector Clemens August. On a tour of the 18th-century castle, learn enthralling stories of its infamous former resident and marvel at the ornate staircase, with marble and stucco work by Balthasar Neumann. Afterwards, enjoy a guided walk through the perfectly landscaped parks and flowering gardens to Falkenlust hunting lodge, where archbishop would come to practise his favourite sport, falconry. Later this afternoon, return to Cologne and enjoy some time to drift through this enchanting city at leisure and perhaps inspect the facade of the Cologne Cathedral up close. (B/L/D)

Rhine Gorge, Rüdesheim

Experience a true holiday highlight as you cruise through the Rhine Gorge, known to be the most beautiful section of the Rhine River. Watch in awe as steep slopes covered in vineyards and dotted with ancient castles drift past, before your ship docks in Rüdesheim. Here, the Winzerexpress mini-train will take you through the town to Siegfried's Mechanical Musical Instrument Museum, which houses one of the most beautiful collections of automated musical instruments in all of Germany. (B/L/D)

Today, explore the evocative town of Miltenberg, perfectly positioned on the confluence of the Tauber and Main rivers. Like a Local - discover true German hospitality as you are welcomed into the homes of friendly Miltenberg locals for coffee and cake. After learning about the town's history, which dates back to the 7th century, return to your ship and enjoy some time at leisure on board as you cruise the Main River. Later this evening, enjoy a superb dinner on board your ship then watch the glittering lights of medieval towns glide past as you cruise through the night. Along the Main River, your ship is able to cruise the entire journey with ease, courtesy of the Main River's 34 locks. (B/L/D)

Verdant hills and rich vineyards sit on the fringe of Würzburg, while the Main River is a prominent feature of this stunning city. The architectural beauty that further defines Würzburg is on show today as you admire its magnificent baroque palace, the Würzburg Residence. Here, a walk through the Court Garden is a delight, with its terraced gardens and water basin encircled by stunning yew trees. Re-board your ship after your discovery and relax before dinner. (B/L/D)

One of the few German cities that wasn't destroyed during World War II, World Heritage-listed Bamberg beckons this morning. You'll be treated to a guided tour, during which the history will come to life as you gaze upon such sights as the Old Town Hall and the Bamberg Cathedral. While a visit to one of the historic taverns is the best place to get a taste for the local Bavarian culture. Later, your ship will reach the Main-Danube Canal. (B/L/D)

The site of Hitler's now infamous Nuremberg rallies, held annually from 1927 to 1938, Nuremberg played a pivotal role for the Nazis during World War II. You'll learn about the city and indeed the era during a World War II tour, which includes such sites as the Zeppelin Field and the Palace of Justice. After, continue over the Main-Danube Canal, crossing Europe's Continental Divide (435 metres above sea level) thanks to the canal's 16 stair-step locks. (B/L/D)

Having reached the Danube River overnight, Regensburg awaits at the confluence of the Danube and Regen rivers. A guided tour tells of the medieval city's journey through the ages. See the ancient Stone Bridge, which gracefully arches across the water, as well as the Old Town Hall, the World Heritage-listed city centre and the Porta Pretoria - ancient gates to a Roman fort built in AD179. A Taste of Bavaria - enjoy a Bavarian experience on board. Sample local beer and snacks, accompanied by traditional folk music, song and dance. (B/L/D)

Passau, Linz

Awake in the pretty 'Three Rivers City' of Passau, where the rivers Inn and Ilz join the Danube. On a guided walk, stroll past the city's colourful buildings, such as the Altes Rathaus (Old Town Hall) on the riverbank. Later, cruise across the border into Austria on the way to the picturesque city of Linz. (B/L/D)

Melk, Dürnstein

Dock in Melk and join a local guide for a tour through magnificent Melk Abbey, an active Benedictine monastery since 1089 that sits majestically atop a rocky outcrop overlooking the Danube River. After, cruise to Dürnstein, where a walk through the cobbled streets leads to 16th-century town houses and taverns. The town is dominated by the hilltop ruins of the castle where King Richard the Lionheart was imprisoned in 1192. (B/L/D)

Embrace the splendour of the former Habsburg empire and the sheer elegance of Vienna as you drive around the Ringstrasse. You'll learn about some of the city's most famous buildings - the Vienna State Opera, the Museum of Fine Arts and more - as well as the rich classical music culture and history. Upon arriving in the city centre, join a walking tour for an insider's view on a number of landmarks, including St Stephen's Cathedral, the Graben, Hofburg Palace and the Albertina. Like a Local - pay a visit to the famous Naschmarkt. Browse the fresh produce stalls and perhaps sample some local delicacies, including Kaiserschmarrn and Palatschinken. (B/L/D)

With the entire day at leisure, you may like to further explore Vienna's beautiful Hofburg area - home to the Imperial Treasury, the Spanish Riding School and much more. (B/L/D)

Today, enjoy views of one of the Danube's most enchanting riverside cities as your ship drifts right into the heart of Hungary's capital. After breakfast, the history, beauty and charm of Budapest is illuminated as a local guide leads you through the city. Explore Matthias Church, the Fisherman's Bastion, Heroes' Square and Buda Castle. You'll also have the chance to see the city's most famous structure, the spectacular Hungarian Parliament Building, perched on the edge of the Danube River. After a Captain's Farewell Dinner tonight, set off on a magical twilight cruise through the heart of Budapest and relish views of the glittering monuments lining either side of the river. (B/L/D)

Disembark Ship, Budapest, Velké Bílovice, Prague

After breakfast board a coach and pass through neighbouring Slovakia, bound for Velké Bílovice. Enjoy some free time to explore this enchanting Czech town as you please, before continuing to Prague. With a three-night stay, you will have plenty of time to soak in the magic of the Czech Republic's capital, a city of stone bridges, gothic cathedrals and golden towers, overseen by a commanding royal castle. Stay Three Nights: Prague, Grandior Hotel (B)

Your exploration commences with a guided tour of the Old Town, Prague's World Heritage-listed city centre. Travel across the Vltava River to St Vitus Cathedral, which dominates the pretty city skyline. Believed to date back to the 9th century, the castle complex - with its vast network of palaces and churches - is considered the largest in the world. You'll then wander to Charles Bridge and cross this Czech landmark, which straddles the Vltava River. Finally, you'll arrive in Prague's Old Market Square and stop for some time to explore. With an afternoon at leisure, perhaps soak up the Bohemian atmosphere along the cobbled back streets and sample the beer for which the city is renowned. (B)

A Taste of Prague - visit Nelahozeves Castle, a Renaissance residence set high above the Vltava River. On a guided tour, uncover the aristocratic world of the Lobkowicz family as you enter the Knights Hall, which once housed royal soirees, then be inspired by the esteemed Lobkowicz private art collection. Enjoy a Farewell Lunch worthy of royalty. Having become familiar with the layout of Prague, enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure to explore as you please. With intricate knowledge of the city, your Travelmarvel Tour Director will be delighted to assist in the planning of your free time. (B/L)
