< Back To East Coast USA and Canada

Good trip.   3 , VIC, Australia, Jul 2019
We enjoyed our East Coast tour although it was very tiring as we did this after a two week West Coast tour. We saw plenty and the highlight was definitely Niagara Falls. This was a reasonably small group of 25 people. There were some long days and it was very hot as the US had heatwaves while we were there. Our tour director and driver were good. Booking ...read more with Global Journeys was easy and would definitely use them again.
Relaxing Canadian holiday   2 , NSW, Australia, Jul 2019
Travelling with Trafalgar was great, safe, enjoyable and educational. We had 52 in our group from various countries. We made new friends and shared many stories and it felt like having a big family. Our Tour Director Ben Coute was very very good. Very knowledgeable, helpful, well organised. The coach driver Josehe drove us safely.
Fantastic tour of East Coast USA and Canada 6 , VIC, Australia, Apr 2019
For us the tour was very comprehensive and extremely well constructed. The tour director Ben Conti had an incredible general knowledge of the areas we visited and also had the ability to disseminate information in a very interesting way. The driver, Jose, was extremely careful and no one was ever worried about his driving.

For us the whole trip ...read more was a highlight and we all got on really well and enjoyed each others company. If pressed for highlights, we would include America's stately capital, Washington, the awe-inspiring Niagara Falls, the incredibly beautiful Quebec City and historical Boston. But to be fair, the highlight was the whole trip itself.

The hotels we stayed at were of a high standard and, importantly, were always centrally located. This allowed us to make the most of the free time we sometimes had to further explore each city we visited. For what we got, we believe that the whole tour was well-priced and certainly value for money.
US East coast and Canada   11 , New Zealand, Oct 2017
Wow what a fantastic trip and the group we travelled with were a lot of fun. The tour director(Ben Conte) was top class and kept us entertained with his great stories. Timing was perfect in early October (fall) as the colour of the trees were spectacular. We spent additional time in New York before the trip which was highly recommended. We loved ...read more the vibe and the pre tour trip out to the statue of liberty was a great icebreaker.

All the destinations had something to offer though Niagara falls was amazing, particularly the optional helicopter flight. We loved the history and character of Quebec City and would have loved to spend more time there and for those who love museums and monuments you cant beat Washington, what a great place to visit.

Overall the trip went very smoothly and just flew by. We were sorry to see it end and we are already thinking about other places we can visit with Trafalgar. Thanks for a great trip and the fond memories.
A brilliant East Coast USA and Canada adventure that did not disappoint ...   17 , NSW, Australia, Sep 2017
I’d never been to the East Coast of America/Canada before and this tour provided a brilliant introduction into the area. The itinerary was comprehensive yet varied with new experiences each day and plenty of scheduled rest stops along the way to ensure the daily journey with 45 other fellow travellers was not an arduous one.

Trafalgar TD (Dave S.) ...read more and our driver (Jose) worked as a well oiled team and were organised, always on time and a great source of knowledge regarding many aspects of each region visited. The addition of local guides (with audio headset walking tours) in various towns added to the experience where tips on where to eat/buy was always welcome. Seat rotation on the coach and a daily schedule “what’s coming up” sheet, kept us informed of departure, arrival and meal points not to mention the all important “bags out” time for the next morning.

Washington D.C was a highlight for me with the monuments/museums as well as the natural beauty of Niagara Falls and the contrasting quaint French influence evident in Quebec City and Montreal. The city of New York lived up to its fast and furious reputation with an orientation tour on the coach as we were heading out of town to the next hotel. Hence I would recommend perhaps getting to NY at least 3 to 5 days before the tour start date, to visit those iconic tourist spots we often only see on TV.

The hotels were well located and within walking distance of most attractions with comfortable rooms, free WiFi and all the mod-cons. I did all the optional tours which included some lovely dinners and a brilliant night tour of Washington which should not be missed. The optional helicopter ride over Niagara Falls looked a tad exorbitant at first, but the amazing flight and sensational photos taken from the air made up for an unforgettable experience.

Can’t speak highly enough of Juliet Scott from Global Journeys who organised all my pre-travel bookings, had plenty of helpful suggestions and was always accommodating towards any changes that came up on my time-line, which was much appreciated !

All in all a great travel journey with a friendly group of people sharing a common goal of soaking up the culture in a new-found part of the world. At least half the group had been on a Trafalgar Tour before (up to 8 times) being testament on how brilliantly this type of travel concept works as I have pleasantly discovered and hope to again in the not too distant future?
Just sit back and enjoy! 6 , NSW, Australia, Jun 2017
This is my third (my husband's first) Trafalgar tour and as usual the quality of the overall tour was terrific. Our tour director Diego was very informative and helpful and Jose was an excellent driver. A great team indeed, which allowed us to completely relax and enjoy the sights and experiences knowing we were well looked after. We also enjoyed the ...read more company of our fellow travellers from Australia, New Zealand and the USA. The tour was well paced and overall well balanced. We would never have covered the distances stress free had we hired a car and travelled on our own. Especially driving on the other side of the road! We would highly recommend this tour.
Comprehensive Tour   5 , WA, Australia, Sep 2016
From start, with booking through Global Journeys till the end of the tour, everything went like clockwork. Yvonne Brooks of Global Journeys was prompt and attentive to all of our queries and requests. The Trafalgar Itinerary for 14 Days East Coast USA & Canada was comprehensive. Tour Director showed great initiative, tailoring our journey with interesting ...read more extras that were not mentioned in the itinerary. The driver was skilled and accommodating, making our journey safe and pleasant. We met many friendly travel companions and had a wonderful experience of unique culture (Amish Country), local food (lobster, clam chowder) and unforgettable sights (Autumn Colours). The only minor negative was the long drive on a couple of days with early start to the journey that made the trip hectic at times. Otherwise it was almost perfect.
Fascinating trip through East coast United States and Canada 4 , Qld, Australia, Sep 2016
We loved the trip and our tour director Adrian was great fun and very well informed as he had been doing this for a very long time We particularly loved Washington DC and were glad we had two nights there. We were a little disappointed in the hotel in New York but the rest of the hotels were great. Hannah from Global Journeys was extremely helpful and ...read more answered my emails promptly.
East Coast USA and Canada 2 , Australia, Jun 2016
We travelled with Trafalgar which was organised by Global Journeys starting in NY City 17 June and ending in Boston USA 30 June 2016. We were very lucky with weather throughout our journey. Coach was comfortable and the driver and travel director were very good. This was the case with our previous trips by Trafalgar/Global Journeys in Europe and USA ...read more National Parks Explore and USA Northern California and it seems we renew our amazingly good impression as time goes on. Overall experience was excellent. If we must name one place or two, Niagara on the Lake is the most beautiful village and Quebec City is most beautiful city, more European than European cities. We recommended to our two daughters and the family preferably in similar season as the most Canada, esp Niagara on the Lake, we told, is in non-action, due to severe cold weather and heavy snow, during October and April. We recommend Global Journeys!
Simply the Best 2 , QLD, Australia, Apr 2016
The Itinerary was great each location we stopped at whether we stopped for lunch or for one or two days was excellent highlights for us was Washington DC, Amish country, Niagara Falls, Quebec and Boston. The tour director Ben was awesome as was the coach driver Jose. All in all a great holiday with a delightful group of fellow travellers.
Overall the tour was a positive experience 1 , NSW, Australia, Sep 2015
Overall, it has been a good positive experience. There was some communication breakdown, especially on the first day. There was supposed to be a meeting at 5.30 pm to meet the director and others. We went out and returned at 5.20 pm - could not see any Trafalgar group in the lobby, so we went to our room to freshen up, got back to the lobby and still ...read more could not see others. On inquiry, we were told that the group had gone to the coach at 5.15 pm. We asked where so we could join them. Through the concierge, I spoke to Andrew of Trafalgar who advised me that the others had gone ahead to the cruise departing at 7.00 pm We said we wold take a taxi and he said he would relay the info to the guide to wait for us. So, together with 1 other person, we rushed to the pier, arriving at 6.32 pm - only to find that the boat had left promptly at 6.30 pm. We were naturally disappointed, thinking that we were in time for the 7.00pm departure. What's more, in getting the subway back, we encountered smoke and had to quickly evacuate - before the fire engines arrived. We got back to the hotel rather stressed and tired. After we complained to the guide, we had to wait for a few days for a response. This resulted in us having a credit towards the optional tour expense incurred. Because we were adequately compensated, we did not feel too bad after all. We felt the cruise director should have made an effort to contact us or leave a message in our room - to inform us about the cruise. Most of the first meetings in the past were held somewhere in the same hotel - so, being a little late was usually not a problem.
Perfect for what we wanted to go & see 1 , NSW, Australia, Jul 2015
Itinerary for East Coast USA & Canada was perfect for what we wanted to go & see. Seats on the tour were very poor, especially when we travelled all day on the coach. Ben, the tour director was knowledgeable, very patient & polite. Most hotels we stayed, were far away from shops, restaurants. It's OK if you stayed one night, two or more should be a ...read more bit closer or in the tourist area not in the financial district. The optional tour, the Amish was interesting culture to see but food was disappointing. This was our fourth trip with Trafalgar. Global Journeys, Yvonne & the team have been very helpful & kind all the way. We'll be very happy to recommend their service to our friends & family. Thank you.
Great if you like having everything organised for you 3 , VIC, Australia, Jun 2015
Our Tour Guide Deby went out of her way to make this a memorable trip. Our coach driver Wali was courteous but not the smoothest of drivers. Washington has lots to offer and was an early highlight of the tour. Staying in Lancaster County among the Amish was a good experience and the hotel we stayed in was one of the best on the trip, as was the dinner ...read more that night. Niagara Falls was amazing and we were glad that we had 2 nights there (one night was 1 July which happens to be Canada's Independence Day and we saw a fantastic fireworks display above the falls!). The optional dinner at a nearby winery was fantastic and well worth including. Ottowa and Quebec were the highlights of the Canadian part of the trip for us, particularly Quebec with its cobblestone streets in the old town and the historic buildings. The Civilisation Museum is well worth a visit. Boston was great. Lots to see and do along with some interesting local seafood dishes.

Our overall impression of this tour was that it was over-organised leaving little free time to explore for yourself. Great if you like having everything organised for you, but this wasn't the style of holiday that we were looking for. We were expecting really top accommodation as we paid nearly twice as much to travel with Trafalgar as we would have if we had gone with Cosmos. The accommodation was only a bit better standard than what we experienced with Cosmos tours. The included meals were only average quality in our opinion (apart from the meal at the winery close to Niagara Falls). Generally we had to be on the coach at 5.30pm to go to the included dinners and we were back at the hotel generally by 9pm. They were not good value for money in our opinion. We would have been happier finding our own places to have dinner at.
Thoroughly enjoyed the trip, poor tour director 0 , NSW, Australia, May 2015
Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed the trip. This was our fifth tour with Trafalgar and we had by far, the worst tour director we have experienced. I realise this is beyond your control and we have written to Trafalgar in relation to her attitude, sarcasm and overall unhelpfulness. The standard of optional excursions were well below our previous experiences ...read more with Trafalgar. Unlike other trips, where we have attended all available, we chose only two. Feedback from those who attended others was average. We did not get the impression that we missed anything worthwhile. The included dinners were below an acceptable standard with the exception of two, the Be My Guest Dinner at Niagara and the included dinner at Quebec. With 48 in the group, it was too much for the tour director to handle, and the space in the coach was uncomfortable for many within our group.
All in all a fantastic trip 2 , NSW, Australia, May 2015
We had a really great trip. Ben Conte the tour director was wonderful always bright and cheerful, with a wealth of interesting stories about all of the places we visited. Wal the bus driver was great. The group on the bus was a lot of fun. All in all a fantastic trip. We have recommended Trafalgar to our friends and will continue to do so
Exceeded my expectations 1 , SA, Australia, May 2015
This was my first guided tour and it exceeded my expectations. Firstly, booking through Global Journeys was extremely easy, and Georgie answered any questions I had promptly. The itinerary was exactly what I was looking for. This was then enhanced by an excellent tour director, Ben, and very competent coach driver, Wali. Ben had great communication ...read more and people skills, and excellent knowledge of all places we visited. The highlights for me were Washington DC, Niagara Falls, Ottawa and Quebec City, as well as New York, which I was already familiar with. Our group was large, but friendly and considerate of others, and all tour members felt very included, so it was socially very enjoyable. Much fun was had during the tour's included dinners. Based on my experience I would highly recommend this Trafalgar tour, and would not hesitate to recommend and use Global Journeys in the future. Thanks Georgie.
I had a great time 0 , Australia, Oct 2014
I had a great time. The standard of accommodation and meals was excellent and the tour guide helpful and informative. I would have liked a bit more time in Washington as there was so much to see. As far as booking with Global Journeys, I would definitely book through you again. Hotels & inclusions far surpassed my expectations 3 , Australia, Sep 2014
I had a great holiday the hotels & inclusions far surpassed my expectations. Travelling alone can be daunting but at all times I felt included with the group. Toronto to me was just another big city but I loved Quebec, it was like a little part of Europe. The included dinners were all special & appreciated in their own way. I went on the Night tour in Washington, the Toronto night cruise, the tour of the vineyard & dinner in Quebec & the tour of Harvard & consider them all to be of excellent value. I consider that our guide Diego played a large part in me having such a good holiday for he was kind & considerate to all members of the group at the same time being informative & at times funny. Bill our driver was lovely & we all felt safe & secure in his hands. Trafalgar will definitely be included when I next look for a holiday.
Would highly recommend! 1 , Australia, Jul 2014
The tour was very well organised and considering how far we travelled (3600+ kms) we always arrived at our next destination on time. We saw and heard so much, there is no way I could've seen so much if I had travelled on my own in that time. Our tour guide, Linda, was very good and she always made sure we had maps of the cities we were visiting which ...read more really made a difference. There was free time but if you did an optional excursion it did take away some of that time. Should point out that time before or after in New York is a must otherwise you don't see much of the city. Learnt a lot on this tour about each city we visited 2 , Australia, Jul 2014
Firstly, thank you Georgie for your excellent service and for all your help booking this trip, it was very much appreciated. All the places we visited were really interesting and we got the best out of them considering the small amount of time we spent in each place. I also learnt a lot on this tour about each city we visited. Linda always made sure we had local maps which was a great help for finding my way round and deciding what I wanted to see. I must add that the tour spends very little time in New York and I was so glad I spent a week there before the tour started. I would definitely book with Global Journeys again. Georgie, you took all the stress away for organising such a big holiday! Thank you again!
