This trip is a combination of two tours, basically the south of Spain (starting in Barcelona and finishing in Madrid) and the north of Spain (starting in Madrid and ending back in Barcelona). This gives you plenty of time in Barcelona and Madrid. The southern portion of the tour is highlighted by the big attractions of Spain including Barcelona, Granada, ...read more the Toledo optional day and Seville, which were absolutely fantastic. The local your guide in Granada and Toledo was just fantastic, bringing alive the Alhambra and Toledo history. The time in Madrid includes a changeover of groups (although the tour director Maria, who was very experienced, was the same). The northern part of the tour is not quite as spectacular , but still very interesting, Santiago and San Sebastian were delightful, as was the optional tour to Biarritz. If you are looking for a comprehensive tour of Spain, at a reasonable pace, with very good accommodation, then consider this tour.

This was a great itinerary by Insight which we felt covered some amazing places of interest with a lot of variety. We were disappointed that some of the hotels were distant from the town centres as the reason we booked with Insight was because we heard they chose centrally located hotels.
