Crossed off the bucket list now 5 , QLD, Australia, Sep 2019
This was a bucket list tour and we were very pleased to have completed it. The tour was good, the tour director was great and we had a great group of fellow travellers. The optional excursions were all well worth while. The dinner and show in Branson; the dinner and Sandia Tramway in Albuquerque; and the St Louis Arch ride to the top were all exceptional. ...read more Hotels were mostly very good with one or two exceptions. As always, Hannah from Global Journeys did an outstanding job with our booking and we will continue to use Global Journeys for all our bookings.
Great trip along Route 66 4 , VIC, Australia, Sep 2019
Great trip through 8 states, lots of American history as well as the Route 66 was a pleasant surprise. Steve the tour guide was fantastic, accommodation lovely. Highly recommend this trip.
Route 66 4 , VIC, Australia, Sep 2019
From the start the tour was relaxed entertaining and well managed by the tour director, the pace was in line with what I expected and the hotels where excellent. Happy with atmosphere in the bus and the free time, i was able to see all the places I expected along and off route 66. Overall I rates this trip excellent and the tour director was excellent ...read more and issues was handled well, this made for a worry less holiday.
Really, really enjoyable   17 , NSW, Australia, Aug 2018
We finished this tour last Sunday and it was really up there in enjoyable experiences. I had really only gone along for the ride as my husband wanted to do it but to my surprise I enjoyed it as much. A word of warning though is that it is very hectic, having to be on the coach ready for the road by 8am most mornings and not getting to our hotels sometimes ...read more as late as 6pm. The majority of nights are single stays so the double nights were much appreciated. Of course not all of Route 66 still exists and it is sad to see the towns that are dying or have died when the interstates opened up. Lots of towns have pulled out all the stops to encourage the tourists to visit and the murals are truly amazing. John our guide and Craig our driver (both very good) and the group of passengers melded well. I would do the trip again in a heartbeat, even with all the on and offs the coach each day. If you want to do then don’t wait, book it.
Kicks on Route 66 15 , WA, Australia, Jul 2017
This is a very good US Tour, We did it as a way of getting a "feel" for the American Way. Our Driver was exceptional in his driving ability and local knowledge for the whole trip Chicago to LA. Likewise our tour guide/director. With a big group of people, in our case around forty six passengers it's hard to please everyone all the time, but both these ...read more guys did an excellent job. The trip certainly gave us the Route66 experience plus the added features of the Grand Canyon and Los Vegas were scene setting for us.

The add on tours that were offered were generally good value and catered for different tastes and budgets. Only one concern/disappointment for us and many other folk on the tour was the very long "free" time at the Grand Canyon, after we had been shown the highlights, we had to endure nearly four hours waiting for the Coach to return from other duties to pick us up. We recommend that the gratitudes/tips for driver & tour director be prepaid before leaving, in our case Australia, that would be much more cost effective than running the tipping gauntlet/con in the US while on tour.
Route 66 10 , New Zealand, Jul 2017
This is the second time I have travelled with Cosmos and overall experience is very good, also money wise
what we did not like was the spiel about giving tips and how much we should give to the driver and tour director.
Great Journey on Route 66 with excellent tour director and driver - Excellent Value 10 , ACT, Australia, May 2017
Our 16 day journey was really 14 days with only Checkin only on the first day and Checkout only on the last day. We were thrilled with all aspects of our Journey and believe it was excellent value. Starting from day 2 in Chicago the included and optional tours that we took all of expect the Hollywood optional tour were all great. The highlights for ...read more us were some of our optional extras such as the Sandia Peak Tram which was far better than we expected, the wonderful helicopter flight over the Grand Canyon, the Las Vegas the Show was a great dinner and show night despite a few of the actors not being the best match for the character they impersonated.

The Hoover Dam trip was very interesting. In hindsight I may have missed the Warner Studio tour but it was still interesting. After the trip we went to Universal Studios for a day and that is far better. We were very appreciate of the wonderful efforts of both our driver and tour guide who were very professional as well as friendly and extremely willing to help and explain. There were a few minor initial issues with booking details but all bookings worked smoothly. The accommodation was very good for the tour price. We would have no hesitation in recommending this tour to others.
Worry free holiday 6 , NSW, Australia, Apr 2016
We just did the first Route 66 bus tour of the year 2016 with Cosmos, and it was very good. We liked to do the first tours of the year as it not as crowded, and our tour had only 32 people a mix of Australian English Canadian & American. We all got on very good. Our tour guide Mary & John were the best and it was great to be on their tour. We did the ...read more optional dinners & shows and could not complain. Also we did the optional helicopter ride over the Grand Canyon, it was an amazing experience. We would definitely travel with Cosmos tours again.
Highlights of Route 66 tour was excellent 4 , NSW, Australia, Sep 2015
This is our 4th Cosmos Tour and the 3rd that we booked through Global Journeys. Overall our Highlights of Route 66 tour was excellent, sightseeing and places visited were as we hoped. All accommodation was great, especially the Dury Inn and Suites which had complimentary drinks and snacks on arrival and greatly appreciated after a day of coach travel. ...read more Our tour guide, Beth was a great person who, by the end of our travels became like a friend to us. She was incredibly knowledgeable about the places we visited, provided us with loads of facts and details and entertained us with appropriate music and DVDs along the way. Our coach driver David was excellent and we always felt safe with him, he could not have been more obliging and accommodated the ever growing amount of luggage that was accumulated by the 47 passengers he cared for. Our coach was always clean and the onboard WiFi was a bonus. Only negative, we felt some of the optional excursions weren't the best value for money, but at the end of the day, these are optional. Our experience with Global Journeys and Michelle White could not be faulted. Once again our booking, payment process and ticket allocation was seamless. As long as Global Journeys offer tours we are interested in, we will always book with them. (MD. Thanks heaps Janne & Michael!)
Excellent job 3 , QLD, Australia, Aug 2015
My wife and I went on a 16 day Cosmos Route 66 tour from 28/08/2015 to 12/09/2015. The tour was organised by Global Journeys who did an excellent job. Overall the tour was as described. Our main complaint was the tour guide Francis Wray. It would have made a lot of sense to have a tour guide who could speak fluent English. Her annoying habit of leaving ...read more the "s" off plurals, the "ed" off past tense and omitting the first letter from many place names (Ollywood) combined with the PA system turned up to distortion made it virtually impossible for us and our fellow passengers to understand anything that she said. Also way too much useless information given at any one time and no pre warning when something interesting was coming up so we could be ready to take a photograph. Overall Francis was the most well meaning and incompetent tour guide we have ever experienced.
Would thoroughly recommend this tour to anyone 3 , NSW, Australia, Aug 2015
I went on this tour not really knowing a lot about the southern States of the USA. I can say after this tour I am well informed our tour director Barbara was a wealth of knowledge we visited many things during this tour would thoroughly recommend to anyone.
If a few things were taken out this would be an excellent tour 4 , NSW, Australia, May 2015
Loved this tour in parts. Like San Diego would have loved to have spent more time there. 5 hours at the zoo was way too long when other things like the SS midway are on offer. White City Carlsbad Caverns was one of the biggest highlights, although was very unimpressed when told that we only had 2 hours to explore as had wanted to do the walk in and ...read more not take the lift down. Loved the 3 night stop over in New Orleans it was a great way to explore this city!! Things that were very boring were our visit to San Xavier Del Bac Mission which was mostly closed. Arizona Sonora Desert Museum where it was so hot and most off the animal exhibits were empty. Overall this is a great tour but if a few things were taken out this would be an excellent tour.
Tour exceeded expectations 2 , NSW, Australia, May 2015
Tour exceeded expectations. Optional excursions not special but then they often aren't. Particularly good tour leader who was professional in every way. Our driver was excellent and dealt with tricky situations in a patient and safe way.
Great trip as always with cosmos 2 , Australia, Sep 2014
Great trip as always with cosmos. Global Journeys made it easy and efficient to book with. Thank you.
Gave us everything we could have wanted 3 , Australia, Sep 2014
Once again our experience with Global Journeys was exceptional and thank you so much Michelle White for making this process simple, faultless and enjoyable. First up, our tour director Chanda was delightful, professional, knowledgeable and so organised. Matt our driver took us from location to location in our wonderfully comfortable coach (with on ...read more board wifi!!), safely delivering our bags to and from our rooms, and went out of his way to accommodate our never ending increase in luggage. These two people were such an integral part in making this tour fantastic. Hollywood to the American South had us visiting memorable places such as the Carlsbad Cavers, White Sands National Monument and LBJ's ranch, Johnson Space Station, and guided tours of the Alamo, Spanish missions and strolling through beautiful places such as Bellingrath gardens. Optional excursions included Cajun cuisine and a great night dancing with locals in Lafayette, enjoying a fantastic buffet dinner of southern food whilst travelling on the Mississippi on the Steamboat Natchez and entertained by a live jazz band, an airboat ride in the swamps of New Orleans and visiting magnificent plantation homes. This Cosmos tour gave us everything we could have wanted, amazing scenery, excellent optional excursions and a wealth of natural and historical information. Thank you Global Journeys and Michelle, Cosmos and Chanda and Matt for fulfilling all that we could ask for in a holiday.
Pleasantly surprised 2 , Australia, May 2014
We had been on a couple of Trafalgar tour before and enjoyed them very much. This being our first Cosmos tour we were expecting maybe a little less. We were pleasantly surprised. This tour was wonderful from the very first day. Our tour guide was a delight as was our coach driver. This helped the whole group of 40 people blend really well. We will certainly ...read more travel with Cosmos again and we will recommend them to our travelling friends. Our tour guide was France Wray. She did a wonderful job and made every effort to make our tour truly memorable.
Variety of fascinating places 1 , Australia, May 2014
We found the variety of places on this Route 66 trip fascinating, from frantic cities of Las Vegas to the National Park at Grand Canyon and Indian reservations. There were many highlights, our favourite was Grand Canyon, first sight is definitely breath taking, we followed this up with helicopter ride over same, which just has to be taken, major benefit ...read more was staying in National Park at Grand Canyon, where a short walk brought you to edge of same. It was good to have 2 nights and full day in Las Vegas, it just gave a little extra time to absorb more of what was available. While it was a lot of miles to cover this distance, we would have hated to miss out on any of the sights, our driver Jeff and guide France certainly helped to make this trip memorable.
