Southern Charms tour   1 , New Zealand, Sep 2023
Had a blast. The guide and driver were great. The people on the coach were a great mix of ages and nationalities. The cost was great 👍. Accommodation was better than we expected for the price of the tour.
Well organised holiday 2 , SA, Australia, May 2019
Great holiday. Hotels were very good quality although some were in suburbs and not in city centre. Good value for money with inclusions taking us to some very nice attractions. Good choice of optional extras. Repeat customer six times now and would recommend Cosmos and Global Journeys to family and friends.
Great overview of Southern tastes and sounds 3 , QLD, Australia, Sep 2018
Cosmos didn't fail us with this itinerary - all the places we wanted to visit plus more. The hotels were, on the whole, okay. The tour director and driver were excellent (2 of the best). Highlights were New Orleans, visit to Graceland and Grand Ole Opry. It was unfortunate that the tour only had one night in Memphis so we didn't get to experience a ...read more lot. We really enjoyed the stay in Savannah - what a beautiful city - so much to see and do. Optional excursions were a bit overpriced for what was included, especially the Natchez river cruise and dinner in New Orleans. Our booking experience with Global Journeys was excellent and highly recommend Hannah; we will definitely be back for future travel needs.
Memorable tour through the Old South & Florida 4 , VIC, Australia, Sep 2018
This was the first time we did a tour with Cosmos. Knowing that Cosmos offers budget tours, we did not expect much. But we found that Cosmos exceeded our expectation. The accommodation was very good as most of the hotels are four stars and close to the tourist attractions. We did not mind at all that breakfast was not included most of the time, in fact, ...read more it gave us freedom to choose our breakfast, such as beignets from Café du Monde. Delicious!!

We also found that the inclusive 2-day trolley ride and the 2-hour private ride in Savannah was excellent. This was beyond our expectation. The 2-hour private ride gave us ideas of what to see & do the following day. The Tour Director, Kristine, was very fun & knowledgeable. She made the tour a memorable experience! She managed to get 'Elvis Presley' on board! Bravo Kris!! You did an amazing job and are one of the best tour directors we have toured with. This tour is highly recommended to be included in your bucket list!! Highlights of the tour: New Orleans & Savannah! They are so beautiful!
Dreamin’ of Florida 2 , NSW, Australia, Oct 2017
We had 13 great days on The Old South with 10 days Florida Discovery extension touring the States on a comfortable coach where everything was taken care of for us. No worries; no hassles. Food and accommodations were great. We will definitely use Global Journeys again. Highly recommend.
Loved parts of the trip 7 , NSW, Australia, Sep 2016
I loved parts of this trip New Orleans was wonderful a highlight, the hotel was super close to everything, comfortable. I'm not really sure why we needed to stay in Natchez? Memphis - great place the accommodation was a bit far from Beale St but walkable. Nashville hotel was ok the Grand ole Opry was fabulous. The Atlanta accommodation was far from ...read more anything random place we had to eat in the hotel and really wasn't good . Sadly We had to bypass Savannah due to Hurricane Matthew. Orlando hotel was nice but again really hard pressed to find anything to do around the hotel.
Loved the Old South and Florida   3 , SA, Australia, Sep 2016
A trip full of history and music. Accommodation was excellent, not 5 star but clean and very comfortable - included a few breakfasts. The optional tours were great value and very enjoyable. Highlights were New Orleans and the swamp and plantation homes tour. Memphis and Graceland, Nashville and the country music Hall of Fame. Savannah was such a beautiful ...read more and historic place, the only disappointing part of this trip was Orlando we found it to be just theme parks which is ok if that's what you want to do. We didn't realise that we would be leaving the tour guide here 3 days before the tour actually finished. Overall a great trip and value for money!
Americas South 6 , NSW, Australia, Aug 2016
Firstly let us say as usual the bookings Global Journeys did for us was excellent and trouble free, which is what we have become accustomed to. While the 13 day tour is sufficient in length we found the beginning in New Orleans disappointing as aside from a city tour no other tours were included. There were optional tours but as a group our tour guide ...read more Brenda left us to our own devices. Which can be off putting for people. Same with Orlando - we had 2 days there with little involvement from tour guide. Along our journey we ventured into Chattanooga only to find out everything was shut which was very disappointing, also numerous occasions wrong information was given. Overall we found the trip pleasant but it would have been greatly enhanced with a more involved tour guide.
Easy trip through the South. 5 , QLD, Australia, Jun 2016
Very busy trip which means you see and do a lot of interesting things. Loved the Southern hospitality and the optional excursions. Savanna and New Orleans were the highlights.
A fantastic holiday. 2 , NSW, Australia, Nov 2015
This tour gave a great range of music experiences of jazz, blues, Elvis, country and western. As well it show cased the geography, history and culture of the 5 US states covered. The tour director was fabulous - organised, friendly, caring and fun. I felt safe in the hands of the competent driver as we covered 2400km (1490 miles). A fantastic holid ...read moreay.
Enjoyable tour of the Old South 4 , Australia, Sep 2015
We went on this tour in October 2015 and had perfect weather for the entire trip, enjoyed New Orleans but as there is so much to do there I would advise adding a few extra days before starting the tour as we did, our visit to Memphis was fantastic as was the included tour of historic RCA Studio B in Nashville, lovely place to unwind and relax in Savannah ...read more Georgia and we enjoyed our time in Orlando. The level of accommodation was of a good standard as was the pace of the tour. Our tour guide, Peter, was well organised and we had a very capable and safe coach driver, Hector, both making this an enjoyable holiday. Georgie at Global Journeys took care of all the organising and gave competitive rates, I highly recommend going through them to book your holidays as this was our fourth Globus Family holiday we have taken & look forward to our next one, thank you Georgie.
Disappointed with tour director 4 , VIC, Australia, Sep 2015
Such a contrast to the tour we did prior to this of the West Coast with Globus. Tour Director, Ken Thompson was bland, by the numbers person. We guessed that nothing of significance happened, or nowhere of significance was passed, along the way to our stops. Instead, he used DVDs extensively and when this wasn't happening, we had to listen to endless ...read more whining C&W music. A short burst of information, usually read off of a sheet of paper in a monotonous voice, heralded the fact that we were approaching one of our stops. As there was no 'welcome' reception and we had two more days on our own, the group did not gel very well. The absence of breakfasts, which bring some cohesion, was also a factor. In saying that, you have to make the most of a bad lot. The cities we visited were unique and outstanding. Adding another day allowing more time in Memphis would have been rewarding. Hotels good standard and most quite central.
I would recommend this tour to anyone of any age 1 , QLD, Australia, Jul 2015
We thoroughly enjoyed our tour of the Old South. Our tour guide Hilary really made this trip special. She was so friendly and knowledgeable and kept everyone organised. I would recommend this tour to anyone of any age. We had a great group and I got to see places I had only ever dreamed of seeing. Sun Studio in Memphis and Graceland were personal ...read more highlights for me. If you love music and history this is the tour for you!
Never a dull moment on this tour 2 , QLD, Australia, Jul 2015
We are a couple in our sixties & for us this tour was like going down memory lane. The tours to recording studios where our favorite performers of the 1950-60's recorded their music was fantastic. We also loved the history aspect of this tour with stories from our wonderful informative guide Hilliary about black slavery, famous people like Martin Luther ...read more King. The tour to Gracelands was amazing, we never dreamed it would be so big & have so much for the visitor to see. There was never a dull moment on this tour therefore we would highly recommend it to anyone who is thinking about it to just do it. We had a wonderful time & always come back to Cosmos for experienced wonderful guides who obviously love their job & total value for money.
Great tour if you like good food and enjoy live music 2 , VIC, Australia, May 2015
Our Tour Director Karen and our Coach Driver Callum were both excellent. If you like good food and enjoy live music - jazz, blues and rock and roll then this would be a great tour for you. Get to New Orleans a few days early to make the most of what this great city has to offer. The optional dinner offered at Natchez in an original plantation home was ...read more a highlight. A premium tour of Graceland was already included in the tour and was great. Savannah was a nice surprise - lots of well restored buildings and lots of beautiful old trees. We liked the amount of free time we had to explore on our own and we also liked not having dinners included so we could choose where to eat in the evening.
Great tour 2 , VIC, Australia, Apr 2015
It was a great tour and I will do the Washington one in the near future. I liked the people I met on tour. The tour guide and bus driver were terrific. The additional optional excursions were ok but not really what I needed on the tour. I learnt a lot on the tour that I wouldn't have seen if I traveled outside a tour.
Tour exceeded our expectations 2 , Australia, Oct 2014
The tour exceeded our expectations and we would recommend it to anyone interested in the history of the Old South or the music of the Rock and Roll and Blues eras. Our guide, Kristine, was passionate about passing on her vast array of knowledge in an entertaining way and she made herself available to offer advice or help beyond normal limits. We were ...read more happy to see that New Orleans is open for business after Katrina and is a vibrant city. Thanks for the memories.
AMAZING! 2 , Australia, Oct 2014
Our trip was AMAZING! And the weather - was what any traveller could wish for, beautiful and warm and only 1 day of slight rain. I saw soooo much and did sooo much. Hard to say which place was the best as each had something different and special of it's own. Music was the theme of this tour and one also learns a lot about the American Civil War and ...read more Slavery too. I am now a jazz fan and also a toe-tapping honky tonk hillbilly :) ha!ha! I feel very privileged to have visited The Kennedy Space Centre, especially to have John Glen stand arms length from me. Also to see the actual shuttle 'Atlantis', the crawler that moves the rockets and shuttles and also Base 39 where they are launched from. Viewing the Universe through the lens of Hubble telescope is awesome! Kris Kimball was an outstanding tour director. She made sure everyone was aboard at all times, was full of information of all the places we travelled to, had suggestions for places to visit when we had free time and was always so helpful. They'd be crazy to ever let her go. Our driver Mark was a lovely man and he was a mine of information too. I have been very lucky with this Cosmos tour and the previous one, both tour directors have been outstanding. Oh and to top it off, I didn't have to share a room. Lucky me! Loved the hotels but I did put in some suggestions and comments on my review to Cosmos. Mainly, that it would be nice if the hotels were in the cities as the coach had to take us in and back for the shows eg. Nashville etc. also, as we left so early every morning, I thought a continental breakfast should be included with a minimal charge added. We all got breakfast outside the hotel as the hotel prices were too expensive. Oh, and I did ask for more just plain old black tea please - not fussed on the fancy stuff :) Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the trip, met lovely people, many were Aussies of course! There were 47 of us on the tour, and about 35 were Aussies! We sure like to travel. Thank you ever so much for all your help. Will contact you again if I have enough money for another trip!
We are sure glad we did this tour, well done Global Journeys! 1 , Australia, May 2014
What a delightful tour. Ken Thomsen our tour director was so nice & helpful, Sam the bus driver was the same. All hotels were first class, loved the choice of excursions. We loved Graceland & the Grand Old Oprey in Nashville & small town of Savannah which were included in tour. We were originally not going to do this tour with other two tours that ...read more we had planned, but we are sure glad we did. Cosmos & Global Journeys, (Michelle) well done!
We had the best time 1 , Australia, Mar 2014
I would like to thank you Georgie for all your help in organising this tour. We had the best time, it was a great mix of people, from of all ages and from different countries.
