Just what I needed!   1 , QLD, Australia, Aug 2019
I took this tour in August 2019 on my own which is something that I've never done before. The tour was extremely well organised and we stayed in the best of hotels. Nothing was too much trouble. It is very difficult to say what the highlight of the tour was - Vancouver Island, Whistler, Jasper, Athabasca Glacier, Lake Louise, Moraine Lake, Banff, ...read more the Rocky Mountaineer, the cruise to Alaska and all the beautiful places we docked at on the way. I highly recommend this tour.
Spectacular Scenery in the Canadian Rockies and Alaska   5 , NSW, Australia, Aug 2018
The Butchart Gardens in Victoria were spectacular at this time of year. The awesome sight of glaciers - such as the Athabasca Glacier that we walked on in the Rockies; the multiple glaciers in Glacier Bay (some calving off into the ocean as we watched); and the Mendenhall Glacier near Juneau - were unforgettable. Watching a young mother black bear lead ...read more her two cubs along the shore as we paddled along Blue River was a thrill.

The old gold-rush town of Skagway was delightful. And the trip to the Misty Fjords, out of Ketchikan, was also memorable. These highlights - together with the unique perspective of stunning and varied scenery from two days in a bubble-top carriage on the Rocky Mountaineer - made the entire 22 day journey a trip of a lifetime.

It was an ideal time of year to travel; we had the benefit of two very good APT tour escorts - one on the land tour and another for the cruise; and only minor downside for us was that the pace was a little hectic. However, the overall experience was very enjoyable - and very much worth doing!
Amazing and unforgettable experience 10 , NSW, Australia, Apr 2018
From the professional and friendly service from Jemma (at Global Journeys), through to our wonderful APT land tour director, Zita and Stephanie, our cruise guide, the trip was an amazing and unforgettable experience.

It was everything we imagined and hoped for, being further enhanced by a great group of people that we toured with. We highly recommend ...read more the tour/cruise, hence the excellent rating in all categories.
Takes the cake! 5 , NSW, Australia, Aug 2017
We have had 8 overseas cruises and land trips and can say without doubt this APT Canada and Alaska 22 day holiday takes the cake. Cruise Director Willo Jones impressed with her knowledge of history and British Columbia and was most helpful in all aspects. A credit to APT. The APT staff on our Holland America cruise were excellent ambassadors. All in ...read more all a great trip made even more enjoyable by interaction between fellow travellers.
This trip was brilliant and the scenery was truly amazing. 2 , VIC, Australia, Aug 2017
This is our first time with APT and would definitely travel with them again. Most of our accommodation was first class as was the beautiful food, great tour director (Jennet) and the driver (Mark) they really added to the enjoyment of the trip. We would have preferred a smaller tour group, however having said that the organisation went so smoothly, ...read more it really wasn't a problem. This is our first time with Global journeys with Yvonne and I would definitely book through them again as the service was excellent, nothing was too much trouble.
Canada and Alaska - What an Odyssey   6 , VIC, Australia, Jun 2017
What a trip - we all had a ball, our touring party were great bunch of people from all over Australia. Our tour guide Nancy Fletcher and Coach driver Les were truly professional through and through. Our most popular highlight was without a doubt the 2 Day Rocky Mountaineer "Gold Leaf". The entire Train crew spoiled us all so much we felt like Royals ...read more by the finish. From day 1 the whole trip went off without a hitch and we put this down to our agent Hannah Campbell at Global Journeys, our second trip handled by Hannah and will not be the last.
Exciting trip through the Rockies and Alaska 3 , TAS, Australia, May 2016
I thoroughly enjoyed my trip to Canada with APT. The online booking was very simple to follow ensuring that any mistakes on the part of the client were picked up and addressed. All our experiences were exactly as stated in the information guide. Our tour director was a mine of information and through his conversations we all learned a great deal ...read more about Canada and the local wildlife, geography and customs. The hotels were of a very high standard and we all enjoyed magnificent views from our room. Highlights were standing on a glacier and drinking the melting water - only a few people in the world experience this. Seeing the snow capped mountains and bears emerging from hibernation and enjoying the dandelions was delightful also. The Rocky Mountaineer was a wonderful highlight. We were all made to feel very special and the cuisine and service on board was unsurpassed. APT has an excellent reputation and from my personal experience is probably one of the best tour companies currently operating.
18 Day Majestic Rockies & Alaska Cruise (APT) 2 , ACT, Australia, Apr 2016
We enjoyed the tour as a whole. Unfortunately, David's Alzheimer's reared it's ugly head, which had a direct effect on the tour - we were unable to fully participate in all activities as we may have otherwise. Our tour guide, Nancy Fletcher, was particularly understanding, & allowed me to concentrate on David's mental comfort. Our group were very ...read more nice, a broad mix of backgrounds and interests. The weather was particularly kind to us, I understand, which was an added bonus! One member of our group, Keven, was taken to hospital from Vancouver Airport before we made our return flight. I do hope all is well with him, particularly as he was travelling solo. Two areas were of some slight concern - Via Rail did not live up to its reputation as one of Canada's attractions. Facilities for a full complement of passengers were rather basic, particularly in the organization of dining, and the fact that the hot water was not turned on for a number of carriages, resulting in cold/no showers for some of us. Also, our final day in Seattle was less than perfect, possibly a brief guided tour could be incorporated to break a very long, drawn out day of waiting. While Pike Street Market is undeniably interesting, not for 6 hours plus at the end of a three week tour!
You get what you pay for 2 , WA, Australia, May 2015
Was a wonderful holiday. The scenery in Canada was exceptional and the tour and cruise were top shelf. APT are expensive, but you get what you pay for. Top price...Top tour.
Value of tour was very good 1 , WA, Australia, May 2015
The value of tour and the received service was very good. This was made better by the overall cost of the tour quoted by Global Journeys. Cheaper than APT's quote. All communication was undertaken online and by email. Even though answers to questions asked were slow the service and response by Yvonne Brooks was more than adequate.
We had a great time 2 , QLD, Australia, Apr 2015
Dealing with Global Journeys was as wonderful this time as it was our first time. To get a reply to our emails on the day they were sent meant a lot to us and this is what our consultant did. She is always friendly and nothing seems to be too much trouble. We will be booking a tour for next year with Global Journeys as soon as we decide where we want ...read more to go. We have used a few travel agents but Global Journeys are the best we have found to date. (MD. Thanks Debbie!) We thoroughly enjoyed our APT Canada coach tour. Our whole group was wonderful. There wasn't one person we didn't get on with. Our tour guide and coach driver were just great. They obviously enjoy their jobs. The Rocky Mountaineer was wonderful too. The inside passage cruise however wasn't enjoyed as much. The ship was old, the service not that great and the buffet food ordinary. Overall though we had a great time.
Fantastic well organised tour through Canada   0 , NSW, Australia, Sep 2014

Thank you again to Yvonne who always does a magnificent job in organising everything from accommodation, flights etc. Thank you again!
Really enjoyed every day of this tour 3 , Australia, Jun 2014
The Rockies Odyssey & Alaska Cruise was one of the best tours we have ever done. Yvonne was excellent very professional and very helpful. The Rocky Mountaineer Gold Leaf is a must - amazing way to travel through the mountains, waterfalls and the scenery was very beautiful. The cruise to Alaska was great. We loved Skagway and the Yukon excursion but the mpst amazing place was Glacier Bay - do not worry if you are not in the front of the ship as the ship will stay there for a while. The soup served while we were watching was great. Overall we really enjoyed every day of this tour - APT are the best do not waste your time checking other tours this is the best.
Accommodation was just THE BEST 2 , Australia, May 2014
Thanks to Yvonne, our experience with Global Journeys was excellent. You saved us money and kept us up-to-date. Friends who used another travel agent received less information. We were impressed with the APT organisation and our tour guide was excellent. The accommodation was just THE BEST. The Rocky Mountaineer was also great. We all agreed that it ...read more was good doing the train at the end of the land tour as by then we needed a change from sitting on the bus and we had fun as a group as by then we had got to know each other. Our tour guide also preferred to do the tour in this direction. We enjoyed the cruise too but were disappointed to find that we were just one of 4 cruise boats in port each time so Juneau, Skagway and Ketchikan were full of tourists - but that is something beyond the control of GJ or APT.
Quite happy with our tour, a few issues though 6 , Australia, Apr 2014
Thank you to Hannah for arranging our trip so competently and always with a smile. A true asset to your company. Thanks dear Hannah, we will always remember you with gratitude. The APT tour was well arranged, our Tour Director Brad and driver Bill were both wonderful, efficient, very friendly and helpful. Kudos to them both, they made the trip fun and ...read more organised everything for us. The biggest disappointment for us was the food on the Westerdam, most often bland, under seasoned, served lukewarm, not enough options for Vegetarians. The glossy descriptions on the menu bore very little resemblance to the actual dish served, often ingredients listed were missing. For seasoned travellers, with mature palates, the food resembled that served at an RSL or Food Court in a Shopping centre. I gave HAL detailed feedback on this aspect, it would be helpful if APT could follow up. This is the one reason we would not consider another cruise with HAL.

The road tour was good for the most, some not so good points: VIA Rail was far below our expectations, cabins were tiny, especially the Singles. The meals were less than fair. The long road journeys between Lake Louise and Sun Peaks and Sun Peaks to Whistler were way too long, both Sun Peaks and Whistler have very little to offer between a late afternoon arrival and early morning departure. It was a short stroll, dinner and bed. I realise there is little in the way of overnight stops on this route, but these two days were a waste. The Sun Peaks hotel was the worst of all hotels in the itinerary, we had some housekeeping issues and the dinner that night was a complete disaster. Overall, we were quite happy with our tour, if the points mentioned above had not occurred, it would have been a far better experience. We are from the Travel/Hospitality industries and travel extensively, throughout the world. The criticism above is genuine and we hope will be taken as such and efforts made to improve the experience for future travellers. Thank you.
The scenery in Canada was amazing 2 , Australia, Apr 2014
Most enjoyable. Maybe a few more 'two night stands' might have eased the 'unpack/packup' feeling, but I guess that was the choice made when we selected that tour/cruise. The scenery, particularly in Canada was amazing, and apparently the folks concerned work very hard to keep it that way. The options available re meals, shore visits etc were well balanced. ...read more I would like to post a very big thank you to the APT Tour Guide and the Coach Driver, both carried out a great job.
Equal to or surpassed our expectations in all respects 1 , Australia, Jul 2013
My wife Carolyn and I did the Rockies and Alaska tour leaving Victoria Canada on the 4th July 2013 and terminating in Seattle Washington on the 20th July. The whole experience was equal to or surpassed our expectations in all respects. The accomodation, coach transport, rail transport, Holland America Line Ship (MS Oosterdam) was 1st class. The itinerary ...read more was extremely appropriate for people our our age and and the pace of the tour was not over amitious and overly exerting. The meals and food generally were excellent, with ample opportunity to exercise choices to satisfy amost every palate. Probably the most valuable aspect of the tour in satisfying our expectations was the calibre of the Tour Director (Ms Mary Simpson) who was not only extrememly knowledgeable about the venues we visited but also excellent in co ordinating the mechanical aspects of the tour so that everything happened as it should and also happened on time. Thank you for making arrangements for us and ensuring that we were well prepared to hit the ground running.
