“Delightful green landscapes”
Thank you Hannah of Global Journeys for making our booking so easy.
Our tour director IIja was a charming Dutch lady who was proud to show off her country. Regrettably she had little concern for the slower walkers on city walks, often heading off through traffic and intersections. The tour included museums and art galleries which was not too everyone's taste, although in fairness to Iija she did give us extra time to take photographs at the John Frost bridge in Arnhem and served up lots of Dutch treats throughout the journey.
Our overnight stay on SS Rotterdam was a waste of time... our cabin was dated and cold. The corridor carpets were worn which caused me to trip. We were told dinner was not included, so if anyone did not want to have dinner on board, then we may choose to catch a taxi into the city. Since most guests had no idea of the layout of Rotterdam or even where to find a restaurant, we became a "captive audience" settling for dinner on board. In our case our meal was disappointing costing $107.81 for 1 serve of steak & veg and 1 serve of 6 tiger prawns plus two beers. I found a black human hair in my prawns, after bringing it to the attention of staff was told it was a prawn hair!!!
The Sprio boat trip around Rotterdam harbour was too long, with little views other than that of the docks and rusty hulks. Some guests were surprised to find the optional excursions was an extra to the tour cost. Something to keep in mind when booking.

“Amazing Devon and Cornwall”
I arrived at the London Reception Centre to join the tour. I was warmly greeted by the staff and the Tour Director. A great start. A good number also joined there, which was excellent. My previous trips had started badly. A great group of people from several countries including singles travelling.
The second two hotels we stayed in weren’t as good and the breakfasts were somewhat lacking. The Hilton in Bristol was wonderful. I had room service one night and it was excellent. All the included activities were well thought out and excellent. The optional activities were excellent too.
The weather was wet and cold during the trip even though it was the beginning of summer. I recommend you take a good waterproof jacket. I was thankful I included my daughter’s at the last minute. The tour director, Maria Holzamer, made sure everyone was included and welcome and her commentary was knowledgeable. She and the coach driver went above and beyond to help one passenger who had mobility issues.

“Fabulous West Coast tour”
A great tour by Trafalgar, which did the loop, leaving Los Angeles down to San Diego then inland to Las Vegas, up to San Francisco and back to LA. Wonderful tour, the coach, accommodation, included excursions and optional excursions were excellent.
A large tour group of 50, from many different countries. Due to the distance of this trip, we had a couple of days where we just travelled in the coach, but this could not be helped. The tour director, Todd, was excellent and very informative about the history of each place we visited. Would be happy to go on another Trafalgar tour.

“Full of ancient history”
Some of the highlights for us, were Delos and Ancient Olympia. Of course the whitewashed houses and blue domes were what the islands are famous for so that was good to see. All guides and the Tour Director were excellent.
The staff on the cruise were very courteous and ever ready to accommodate our needs. The Tour Director on the ship was super efficient and always made sure we were in the best positions to get off the ship for guided tours. He took good care of all of us.

“Scenic Scandanavia and its Fjords by Trafalgar”
It is difficult to find words to describe the natural and cultural environments I saw and experienced on this trip: mind blowing, stunning, breathtaking, amazing, beautiful.... The tour director was hands down the best I have ever been with. Knowledgeable and personable.
The hotels were fine. This is my 6th European tour and I have come to accept that rooms are smaller and more basic than Australians are used to. All hotels on this trip had comfortable beds, decent pillows and amenities. I would suggest not travelling at the height of summer as the Scandinavian hotels do not have air conditioners. The meals were unbelievable - the best in my experience thus far.
We were a big group - 48 in all made up of Americans, Australians, Canadians, Malaysians and Singaporeans. We quickly bonded to become this touring family. This camaraderie was great since I travel solo. We covered much ground so the usual drawback of long travelling days applied to this tour as well. However in saying this we did have 4 two night stays which made the three travelling days a tad more bearable. The tour director also had the knack of identifying travel fatigue and organised frequent pit stops to see something ‘special’ along the route. Highly recommend this tour.

“Enjoyable Spanish Adventure”
The tour across Northern Spain was really enjoyable and met my expectations. The hotels were of a high standard and breakfasts excellent. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and supported me when I was unwell. Special dinners especially those where entertainment was provided by local Basque musicians, really great.

“Best of Eastern Europe in 9 days”
May is the perfect time to visit Eastern Europe, beautiful weather and no crowds. Regensburg, Prague and Budapest at night were the highlight. Travelling single felt safe and although it goes at a very fast pace, if you don’t have much time, this is perfect. We had a good group of fun people on the trip which made it very special.
There could be more fun and dancing/singing entertainment in general. Although we were on a more mature Trafalgar group, it does not mean we do not want to laugh and sing and dance. I was very happy with Madeline organising my trip. Thank you and looking forward for another great fun trip in 2021.

“Amazing beauty of Norway”
We did the Nordic Adventure with Trafalgar. We travelled through 4 countries and were most impressed with the amazing beauty of Norway. Highlights were travelling through the most beautiful fjord at Geiranger and then North Cape to see the midnight sun. Friends said our photos looked like paintings.
Thanks to Yvonne for once again making our bookings easy. This is the 4th trip she has arranged for us.

Frequently asked questions for clients considering travelling with Trafalgar
Before I book
When can I expect to get my travel documents & itinerary? How many people will be on my trip?
Travel documents, including any air tickets, tour itinerary, hotel lists, and helpful hints and other information are able to be unlocked approximately 3 weeks prior to departure. Your Global Journeys Travel Advisor can organise these earlier if you are travelling before your holiday starts.
Will I have free time?
You'll find an average of 40 to 45 guests on trips throughout Europe, and a maximum of 52 guests on trips throughout the United States and Canada.
What are the coaches like?
Each itinerary offers the perfect balance of downtime and discoveries. We also give you the opportunity to tailor your trip with Optional Experiences. You might choose to enjoy some of the best seats in the house at the world-famous Moulin Rouge in Paris. Or maybe take a magical early-morning balloon ride over the Napa Valley. Trafalgar's At Leisure tours offer a more relaxed pace, with later starts and longer stays in each place.
Are the hotels air conditioned?
We pride ourselves on having the finest fleet of fuel-efficient, fully air-conditioned coaches – all with reclining seats and on-board restrooms. The high vantage point from your coach's window means you can take in all the glorious scenery, whether it's a vast rural landscape or an urban city centre. We also have on board WiFi.
What is the single traveller supplement?
We select our hotels for their quality, impeccable service and comfort, with the majority of them having air-conditioning. Few hotels in the northern Alps or Europe have air conditioning due to the colder climate.
What if I have special dietary requirements?
If you prefer the privacy of your own room, you can opt for our single supplement. The cost will depend on your trip and can be found in the pricing section of the itinerary. On many of our trips we offer discounts on the standard single supplement. If you'd rather not incur the additional expense, consider our single traveller room share option. We'll accommodate you with a fellow guest of the same gender, on a twin-bed basis.
We can accommodate guests who are vegetarian and can assist with diabetic, gluten-free and other medically-recommended diets. Please advise us at time of booking. Unfortunately, we're unable to supply meals in accordance with strict religious requirements. We can't provide salt-free, Kosher, Halal, requests for specific dietary supplements such as soya milk, and high protein or low-carb meals.
Before I depart
How much luggage can I bring? Are tips included?
You can bring one suitcase per person with the dimensions of 76cm x 46cm x 25cm (30" x 18" x 10") and weight not exceeding 23kg (50 lbs) due to the limited space on the coach. You can also bring one piece of hand luggage, provided it is small enough to take on the coach and does not have telescopic handles. All baggage handling is provided at no extra charge. One suitcase per person will be brought to your hotel room.
What is Gold Seal Protection?
We'll check you in, look after your luggage and take care of all hotel porterage, tips and gratuities - whether it is for restaurant staff, chambermaids or porters. Please note that Travel Director and Drivers gratuities are not included in the trip cost. You have the option to add pre-paid gratuities on your booking - please request when you enquire with us and your Travel Advisor will include it in your quote.
Will I need to pack formal clothes?
Gold Seal Protection is designed to provide you with peace of mind. For $99 should you choose to cancel your guided holiday for any reason, prior to 30 days from departure date, Trafalgar will refund your deposit and/or guided holiday payment. Gold Seal Protection must be paid with the deposit and cannot be added at any later date. If you wish for us to include this protection in your quote, please let us know when completing your 'Quote Request'.
This will depend on not only your personal preference, but the destinations you're visiting and the time of year you'll be travelling. We'd recommend bringing at least one smart outfit for special evenings.
On the road
What are Optional Experiences and when can I book them? Will I be able to get laundry done?
We realise that everyone likes some time to themselves, which is why we've left free time on all of our itineraries. If you want to get the most out of your destination, our Optional Experiences let you tailor your trip. Your Travel Director will tell you about all of the Optional Experiences available on the first day of your trip. Payment can be made by credit card or cash.
Is there seat rotation on the coach?
Most hotels do offer a laundry service and in some cities Laundromats are also available. However, it's sensible to try and pack enough clothing to avoid having to do laundry, as it can sometimes be costly or inconvenient.
What if I become ill on my trip and am unable to continue?
Yes, your Travel Director will implement a seat rotation system, whereby all guests will rotate their seats on the coach daily. This allows for everyone to experience the spectacular views from different seats, and you'll have a better opportunity to get to know your fellow travellers.
Your Travel Director will assist you with a doctor's visit or hospitalisation should you require. Trafalgar has a dedicated Customer Care Department in Europe, or their Operations Department in the relevant country will contact you to offer assistance and advice, coordinate with your travel insurance company and keep in touch until you are able to re-join the trip or return home. This service is included in the cost of your trip; however it is not a replacement for travel insurance, which Trafalgar strongly advise you to purchase.
Arrival & departure details
Transfers in Europe
All Trafalgar guests receive complimentary arrival and departure transfers by shuttle coach on the arrival and departure day of their guided holiday at specified times. Any guests whose flight times do not coincide with the shuttle coach transfer timings may choose to book and purchase a transfer. Additionally, guests arriving before or leaving after the scheduled holiday may also book and buy a transfer providing they also purchase the additional pre and post holiday hotel night(s) through Global Journeys & Trafalgar.
Trafalgar is pleased to offer complimentary airport transfers on our East Med itineraries, at any time either on the first or last day of the holiday or on other days in conjunction with pre and post trip accommodation booked through Global Journeys & Trafalgar. Transfers in London
Transfers can be expensive, particularly between the airport and your London hotel. Trafalgar has negotiated special group transfer rates from London's Heathrow Airport to the door of your Trafalgar London hotel - $75 per person per single trip to/from Heathrow Airport. For passengers flying into London's Gatwick Airport, Global Journeys & Trafalgar recommend the Gatwick Express, for details visit the Gatwick Express website at: www.gatwickexpress.com Trafalgar's Transfer Terms & Conditions
Transfers in Americas & Canada
- Global Journeys provides detailed flight information to Trafalgar no fewer than 21 days prior to departure. Once transfers are booked they cannot be changed.
- For London arrivals, you must stay at a London hotel booked by Trafalgar on the night of arrival and the night prior to your departure date.
- Trafalgar only includes one inbound and one outbound transfer.
- In the event of flight delays outside of Trafalgar's control, the transfers will be deemed to be cancelled.
- All transfers are based on group transfers. No refund is therefore available for missed transfers, or passengers not using this service.
- In the event of unforeseen events (such as road or rail works, strikes or demonstrations), Trafalgar will not be responsible for delayed or cancelled transfers.
With Trafalgar you will receive complimentary arrival and departure transfers on all holidays by shuttle, minivan, private car or taxi, between designated airports and hotels on the starting and ending day of your holiday. We regret that we are unable to provide complimentary transfers for anyone arriving before the scheduled starting day of the holiday and/or leaving after the scheduled ending day of the holiday. You may, however, purchase these transfers from Trafalgar provided that you also purchase your extra night(s) from Global Journeys & Trafalgar. Transfers in Asia
