“Thoroughly enjoyable taste of the South Island”
Thoroughly enjoyable tour. Tour guide Peter organised us really well, everyone was on time for early morning departures and back on the coach at prearranged times when we stopped to see the sights. Our coach driver Peter was excellent, did an amazing job around all those windy roads! He was a local and had great knowledge of the South Island and pointed out the sights as we travelled. No hesitation in recommending Grand Pacific Tours.

“The natural beauty of New Zealand”
Global Journeys booked my tour of New Zealand and I travelled with Grand Pacific Tours. Excellent drivers for South and North Islands and one continuous tour guide. Drivers were full of information about their country and were willing to detour if time and weather permitted. The tour guide was available to any request and obliged where practical, no complaints whatsoever about Grand Pacific Tours (GPT). No hiccups with my booking including airfares, transfers, all was great. Would definitely recommend and use for the future.
I had wanted to travel New Zealand for many years, but my husband wasn't interested, so I took the plunge and booked as a solo traveller and found it very easy and would not hesitate to travel like this again. Had a wonderful time, met some lovely and interesting people. Great holiday.

“Fabulous 16 Day Highlights of New Zealand Tour”
A wonderful trip to New Zealand visiting amazing places and spectacular scenery. I was fortunate to have a great bunch of people on the tour. The tour was well organised and I could not fault either of the coach drivers, Geoff and John, or tour guide, Kerrie. They all did an amazing job and provided loads of commentary with lots of laughs along the way. The booking process through Global Journeys was very smooth without a hiccup. Yvonne did a great job. I had an amazing time and have come back with heaps of great memories.

“Classic Fighters New Zealand Tour”
Marg and I had a ball, would definitely recommend booking with Global Journeys and touring with Grand Pacific.
Tony the tour guide was great as were both coach drivers we had for the tour. We were very happy with the standard of accommodation and food provided whilst on tour. Highlight of the tour without doubt was the Air Show. We definitely got our monies worth thanks again Grand Pacific and Global Journeys.

“Wonderful 16 day tour of New Zealand”
We enjoyed every minute. The accommodation was good. Our coach drivers were very well informed and helpful. Our tour hostess was marvellous - so kind and thoughtful. Highlights were Milford Sound, the Hole in the Rock, Agrodome, Larnach Castle, TSS Earnslaw on the lake and the sing-a-long on the way back... and many many more.
We were sad that weather stopped us going to Franz Joseph and on the TranzAlpine Train. Would have liked more time in lovely Dunedin. The haggis ceremony was great fun as was the Maori concert. Best of all was the optional tour of Skipper's Canyon - fantastic scenery and history.

“Highlights of New Zealand”
Apart from an issue with being given the wrong door key number at the Inis in Wellington we had no other problems with the accommodation. It’s a pity the West Coast was flooded so we did not get to see Fox Glacier or land on the snow. We took our own initiative & took the TranzAlpine rail journey from Christchurch to Greymouth & return. We were given a refund for missing this part of the trip by Grand Pacific.

“Fantastic 19 day Ultimate Rail, Cruise and Coach Experience”
Thoroughly enjoyed our Ultimate tour. Great driver/Tour Director and we were thoroughly spoilt by the luxurious coach - I don’t think you would find any other tour company in the world that provides such luxury. All excursions, both included and optional, were first class. Great hotels and meals. Our fellow travellers were all great company and this added to the overall experience. New Zealand is truely an amazing country and well worth a visit. The service provided by Yvonne Brooks at Global Journeys was first class and we will not hesitate in booking future holidays through them.

Frequently asked questions for clients considering travelling with Grand Pacific
Before I book
Can I book directly with Grand Pacific Tours? Are all tours guaranteed to depart?
Grand Pacific Tours is a wholesale Tour Operator and as such do not take direct bookings from clients. However any of their touring holidays can be booked through Global Journeys - Awarded Grand Pacific Top Agency status since 2011).
Can merchandise be purchased once in New Zealand? What if I order a jacket and it is the incorrect size?
Yes, all of Grand Pacific tour dates are guaranteed to depart.
Who travels on Grand Pacific tours?
Merchandise needs to be added at the time of booking (or prior to final monies being paid) and can't be purchased once on tour. You will receive your merchandise as part of your documentation pack approximately 2-3 weeks prior to departure. If the jacket is an incorrect size then it can be returned and an alternate jacket can be sent. A $10 postage and handling fee is required for any jacket exchanges.
How many other people will I be travelling with?
Our tours are geared towards the senior market, therefore most of our travellers are between 55-80 years of age. We do of course have clients travelling that are either younger or older than this average age. Due to the nature of our tours we have found that children under 5 years of age are not suitable to travel on our tours. We do offer child rates for children between 5-11 years of age.
What will the accommodation be like on tour?
Grand Pacific Tours have a maximum capacity of 48 people per tour. Small group tours have space for a maximum of 20 people per tour.
Can I arrange pre or post tour accommodation?
Grand Pacific Tours endeavours to utilise the most suitable hotels available in each location to ensure travellers enjoy high levels of cleanliness, comfort and service. In more remote locations, hotel standards may not be as high due to limited choice. As a general rule, all hotels used on tour will have, as standard, the following room amenities; hair dryers, iron & ironing boards, tea & coffee making facilities. Therefore, it is not necessary for you to carry these items.
At most hotels, the bathroom will consist of a ‘shower over bath’ and some hotels do not have lifts (stairs only). Should the hotels on tour change for any reason, we will endeavour to ensure that the alternative hotel is of equivalent standard.
Do you cater for special diety requests?
Standard hotel check-in time is 2pm. If travellers require immediate check-in on arrival, a pre tour night will need to be purchased in order for this to be guaranteed. Standard hotel check-out time is 11am. If travellers require a late check-out due to evening flights, a post tour night will need to be purchased in order for this to be guaranteed.
If you have booked your pre or post tour accommodation with Grand Pacific and Global Journeys, these arrangements will be outlined in your itinerary. Meals are not included and need to be ordered and purchased directly with the hotels. Additional nights may be charged at the prevailing rate by the hotel.
Do I need to tip my Tour Director, Driver or Driver guide?
Room and dietary requests are limited and cannot be guaranteed. Dietary requests are limited to Vegetarian, Gluten Free, Lactose Intolerant & Diabetic. Religious dietary requests (i.e. Hindu Vegetarian, Kosher, Halal) cannot be accommodated. Any further intolerances needing to be managed are the responsibility of the traveller.
Airlines have restricted dietary conditions which vary. For single travellers paying the single supplement, this covers the sole use of a hotel room. The coach is not single seating and you will be required to sit with a fellow traveller.
New Zealanders, like Australians, do not depend on tips for their income, however tipping in appreciation for extra-special service is at the discretion of the visitor.
Before I depart
What documentation will I receive? When will I receive my travel documents?
This depends on the touring style you are booking. You will receive a Grand Pacific Tours ticket wallet as well as luggage tag, name badge, travel bag, toiletry wet pack and laundry bag. Your ticket wallet includes your flight itinerary (if applicable), tour itinerary, tour questionnaire, Optional Tours Directory, General Information & Frequently Asked Questions Directory, touring map, postcard, customs required resealable plastic bag and an emergency contact card.
How many suitcases can I take?
For travellers residing in Australia, your Documentation Pack is mailed to you by Global Journeys. For travellers residing outside of Australia, your personalised itinerary will be emailed to you and your Documentation Pack will be ready for collection at your first tour hotel in New Zealand.
What should I wear?
All travellers are supplied with a Grand Pacific Tours Travel Bag for personal and small items which can be carried on the coach when travelling. The travel bag is designed to carry a maximum of 6kg (13lbs). Due to limited space on board the coach, please ensure carry-on bags do not exceed this limit.
Each traveller is entitled to travel with ONE suitcase on tour measuring (length + width + depth) no more than 140cm (55”). Ultimate Small Group travellers are entitled to up to TWO suitcases (if airline ticket permits)
Weight limits also apply to luggage due to Occupational Health and Safety issues. Approximately, the maximum suitcase weight allowed is 23kg (50lbs). If a traveller brings more than the allocated limit of luggage, any additional arrangements made to get their luggage to the final destination will be at their own expense.
How much do think we should allow for incidentals?
Whilst on tour, dress is informal and relaxed on most occasions. Smart casual clothes are acceptable at most restaurants. The seasons are more pronounced and the weather is more changeable. In summer, a jacket and sweater should be included in your luggage should the weather turn cooler or you visit higher altitudes.
You can expect some rain, so also include a light rainproof jacket or coat. If visiting during the months of May and September, pack warm winter garments and layer your clothing. You may have the option to relax and unwind in thermal hot pools so don’t forget to pack your swimwear.
We suggest you allow a minimum of NZ $40 - $50 per day per person for incidental cash expenses such as lunch, morning and afternoon tea.

These items offer great value for money and will be a memento of your New Zealand holdiay for many years to come. Order any of these items with Global Journeys at the time of booking, as they are not able to be purchased on tour. Free Airport Transfers
Grand Pacific offers a hotel or airport transfer at the start and end of your tour, or in-conjunction with pre or post accommodation booked with Global Journeys & Grand Pacific. All flight information must be given to Global Journeys at least 6 weeks prior to departure so that transfers can be booked. If you book your own pre or post accommodation then transfers cannot be included.
