We felt that the trip covered everything which we wanted to see in the South Island. It was a well organised tour and the Tour guide was amazing. As well as being very knowledgeable and interesting he told us lots of personal stories which were very enjoyable. Our trip was near the end of the Season which meant that the places and the accommodation were not too crowded and this was a bonus. We had excellent weather which was great as we spent alot of time outdoors sight seeing when not on the coach. The coach was clean and comfortable and all the accommodation was of a good standard.
The food was also very good with buffet style menus in some of the hotels and happy hour drinks were essential although a little extension of the time would have been useful. We found that our group were all very friendly and everyone mixed well. Of the optional activities we went to Olveston House and Skippers Canyon both of which were excellent. We did book our trip online with Global Journeys and on the whole it was very good, our only complaint was with the flights. The outgoing flight was with Air New Zealand and it was great we had breakfast and a movie whereas the flight back to Melbourne was with Virgin and was cramped, crowded and we had no food which was a very disappointing way to finish our holiday. (GJ: We agree Maureen & Tony that Virgin definitely have work to do on their Tran-Tasman flights. We will relay this information back to Grand Pacific who are responsible for flight bookings that accompany their tours.)

The trip was memorable and well organised. Our tour guide also coach driver was incredible. His sense of humour and excellent knowledge and experience provided us a wonderful trip. April and May was a good time to visit, with nothing else besides the blues of the lakes and golden autumn leafs in beautiful Queenstown. People on the trip - very lovely and friendly, easy to get along with. Must say I really enjoyed the trip, loved NZ and would come back for another visit. This is the first time touring with Grand Pacific and it was the best coach touring experience we have had. The whole tour went like clockwork, which I am sure was largely due to the excellent management and organization of the coach driver and tour guide. The scenery was stunning and the Optionals we chose were of good value. What we found to be good was the daily variety of visits and activities.. The hotels were all excellent as was the food. Thanks again to Yvonne whose organization at the Global Journeys was again extremely efficient.
Thank you Grand Pacific for a very well organised tour of the South Island of New Zealand. My 89 year old mother and I had a wonderful, stress-free holiday. The accommodation and meals were good quality, although the Twizel accommodation needs updating of the rooms. Autumn turned out to be the best time to travel as the weather was stable and the leaves were turning. Our tour guide, Nick, and tour driver, Alex, did an amazing job of looking after us. In particular, Alex was a very safe driver! We appreciated hearing about the Maori culture, as well as the history and geography of the stunning scenery we passed through. Both Nick and Alex were knowledgeable and enthusiastic about their country and heritage. I have no hesitation in recommending Grand Pacific - in fact, we loved it so much, we are thinking of doing the North Island some time in the future. Thank you Madeline at Global Journeys for answering all our questions promptly and courteously. All in all, a holiday to remember!
Overall is was a great trip and a wonderful experience. We would like to have seen a little more content and we would like to have had some different dinners other than the hotel buffets. The buffets were nice but became tiresome. Some specialty restaurants offering local foods for the areas would have been better. Grand Pacific is a good operator. We were well looked after all the way. Mostly the hotels were very good but the one at Teizel did not meet expectations. An extra day in the tour (if it were possible) may have relaxed the pace just enough.

Global Journeys made the online booking/payment step by step process very easy and I will definitely be booking travel with them again. We could not fault Grand Pacific. The travel pack they sent was very useful. Drivers/hosts on both Islands were very informative, very approachable and lots of fun. The quality of the accommodation and food was on the whole of a high standard. We liked that our luggage was delivered to and picked up from our rooms at each hotel. Our fellow travellers were great. Everyone mixed and got on very well and there were lots of laughs. It was a full on tour, packed with interesting places and sights. We enjoyed all aspects of trip but the highlights for us were Milford Sound and the Bay of Islands (including Russell) - just beautiful. Loved the sights of Rotorua and the included Hangi and Maori Concert in the evening was wonderful. TSS Earnshaw cruise and dinner was very nice but... a standard glass of wine costs $14.50!! I would thoroughly recommend Grand Pacific for those thinking of touring New Zealand.

Would highly recommend touring with Grand Pacific and booking through Global Journeys. Everything was hassle free from the get-go. My partner and I were able to monitor the progress of our booking and received our travel packs straight away. We had a friendly and knowledgeable Tour Director on-board to ensure a smooth and enjoyable tour for the entire group. The recommended activities and places we visited were all superb. It's hard to pick a favourite but honourable mentions to the boat cruise on magical Lake Wakatipu in Queenstown and Milford South (Fiordland) plus the tour of Skippers Canyon.
Accommodation was great, The coach was comfortable and always clean the coach driver was very informative, safe and caring. I will definitely book with Global Journeys again for my next holiday and I recommend grand pacific.
May be take a neck rest pillow for travelling on the coach to get some rest. The food was very appetising - watch out if you are on a diet as it is very easy to put on weight.

Can I book directly with Grand Pacific Tours?
Grand Pacific Tours is a wholesale Tour Operator and as such we do not take direct bookings. Any of our holidays can be booked through Global Journeys (our #1 Agency), who can give you the best advice on all of your travel plans.
Are all tours guaranteed to depart?
Yes, all of our tour dates are guaranteed to depart.
What documentation will I receive?
This depends on the touring style you are booking. You will receive paper documents in a complimentary leather travel wallet as well as luggage labels and a useful booklet containing valuable holiday information. You will also receive a map of the region you are visiting when you get on tour.
When will I receive my travel documents?
Documents for Grand Pacific guided tours are delivered to the hotel or address you are staying at prior to your tour depending on the tour type chosen. We also provide you with a tour itinerary and arrival instructions by email, once we have all your flight information and personal details.
Can merchandise be purchased once in New Zealand? What if I order a jacket and it is the incorrect size?
Merchandise needs to be added at the time of booking (or prior to final monies being paid) and can't be purchased once on tour. You will receive your merchandise as part of your documentation pack approximately 2-3 weeks prior to departure. If the jacket is an incorrect size then it can be returned and an alternate jacket can be sent. A $5 postage and handling fee is required for any jacket exchanges.
Who travels on Grand Pacific tours?
Our tours are geared towards the senior market, therefore most of our travellers are between 55-80 years of age. We do of course have clients travelling that are either younger or older than this average age. Due to the nature of our tours we have found that children under 5 years of age are not suitable to travel on our tours. We do offer child rates for children between 5-11 years of age.
How many other people will I be travelling with?
Grand Pacific Tours have a maximum capacity of 48 people per tour. Small group tours have space for a maximum of 20 people per tour.
Do I need to tip my Tour Director, Driver or Driver guide?
New Zealanders, like Australians, do not depend on tips for their income, however tipping in appreciation for extra-special service is at the discretion of the visitor.
How many suitcases can I take?
Travellers are entitled to carry one suitcase per person, with the total sum of its width, length and depth not exceeding 140cm and weight 20kg (44 pounds). In addition to your suitcase, you may also carry a handbag and/or camera case onboard the coach.
What should I wear?
Plan to wear much the same as you would in Australia, but take layered clothes to put on or off as required. Remember the seasons are more pronounced and the weather is more changeable. You'll need warmer clothes than at home in Autumn. Coastal areas in summer are usually warm enough for you to go out in the evenings without a jacket, but carry a light jumper or jacket in case the weather turns cooler. Also include a light waterproof jacket.

Free Airport Transfers
Grand Pacific offers a hotel or airport transfer at the start and end of your tour, or in-conjunction with pre or post accommodation booked with Global Journeys & Grand Pacific. All flight information must be given to Global Journeys at least 6 weeks prior to departure so that transfers can be booked. If you book your own pre or post accommodation then transfers cannot be included.
