The destinations on the tour were very good, although as with any coach tour, more time could have been spent at some of the places. In particular, the day we went to Lecce and Otranto, the times spent at each should have been reversed, so that more time could be spent at Otranto rather than Lecce.

The accommodation were unfortunately hit and miss. The hotels at Naples and Bari were great (with Naples having a wonderful location and Bari a very stylish modern hotel), but the rest left a lot to be desired. Sorrento was the last stop on the tour and was our favourite place we visited, but the hotel was too far from the centre of town, requiring a shuttle bus there and back, unless one was willing to walk on the narrow road with no footpath.

Two other hotels we stayed at (Cellino San Marco and Castellano Grotte) were terrible, with many on the tour complaining about their remoteness and lack of basic and functional amenities (no in-room wi-fi, no in-room telephones, etc.).

We were always led to believe that Globus tours had better and more centrally-located accommodation than the more budget-friendly Cosmos tours, but on this tour that did not seem to be the case apart from the aforementioned hotels at Naples and Bari. Most people were disappointed in this aspect.

Aside from the accommodation, the tour itself was very enjoyable, with plenty of interesting places to see and much to do. This part of Italy is a wonderful sight to behold.

Very good tour. The only complaint would be the fact that optional excursions were a bit over the top in terms of the number.

Overall I had a great trip. However the pace of the tour rated by Globus is incorrect. This is a very fast paced tour that left little to no time for any free time to relax and take in the culture of where we were at any given time. If you did all of the optional excursions you had no free time. The days were long with wake up calls every morning from 6am and some days we didn't get to our next hotel till 6pm so the days went for 12 hours! Then we only had enough time to check in, change and be ready for dinner in mostly less than an hour.

Many people who were older quickly became exhausted and sick. This spread throughout the bus unfortunately (I am still trying to get rid of the head cold). This tour might be better off having less one night stays and not cram so much in so that people can relax a bit more. After all it is meant to be a holiday!

The tour guide Ramon was very patient and helpful and an excellent and informative guide. The sights and places were awesome and we saw so much it was like a whirlwind but would have liked to spend longer at some destinations.

We thoroughly enjoyed our recent holiday with Global Journeys and Globus. It was a "trouble-free" experience and we thank Yvonne Brooks for ensuring everything went to plan. The whole trip offered very good value for money (compared to other offerings we had looked at). Very few operators offer a package that takes you from the eastern side of Canada (including a visit to the amazing Niagara Falls) to the west across the plains and the Rockies and then onto a ship to sail through the beautiful Inside Passage.

The Rockies were spectacular and the sites we visited were breathtaking. Butchart Gardens in Victoria on Vancouver Island are a "must see". Alaska looks like the "last frontier" and Glacier Bay offered sights we'll never forget. We went Dog-sledding in Skagway which was a unique experience. All in all it was a wonderful holiday. Thank you Global Journeys.

This was my first trip with Globus, and I was highly disappointed with this tour. There were many others on my tour who had done Globus tours before and they also thought his tour was not as good as what they had previously experienced with this operator. Firstly, the guide was not French and does not live in France which meant we did not get as much local knowledge and information as one would hope on a tour. We also did not get any local guides in any of the cities.

We were told that this particular tour is quite new and still required modifications and tweaking to perfect it. A few of the places we stayed in did not make any sense to a tourist, e.g., overnight stay in Macon which had nothing to offer when we could have driven an extra hour to reach Lyon for the overnight stay. Also they started the tour on Saturday in Paris which meant arriving on Sunday in Metz, a small city which has very little open on Sunday afternoons, including restaurants and dining options.

Globus FAQ's Some of the frequently asked questions Globus receive from their clients
Will I be travelling with people from other countries?

Globus is an international company. As such, you will be travelling with like-minded enthusiasts from countries as diverse as the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa, as well as Europe and Asia regions. The average number of people on a Globus tour is 36, and we limit the number of tour members on our tours to a maximum of 44. Small groups of this size allow you more space, comfort and legroom.

What is a single room supplement?

Single rooms cost extra and are often quite small. We do not take reservations on a "share" basis. Sidestep the single room supplement by traveling with a friend. It is less expensive and much more fun.

When can I expect to get my travel documents & itinerary?

Travel documents, including any air tickets, tour itinerary, hotel lists, and helpful hints and other information are sent approximately 20-30 days prior to your tour departure. Your Global Journeys Tour Consultant can organise these earlier if you are travelling before your holiday starts.

Can children travel on Globus tours?

An adult must accompany travellers who are less than 18 years old on the tour departure date; the child receives a 10% discount on the land tour price. We do not accept children under the age of 8 on escorted tours, because we have found they are too young to enjoy these holidays. On our independent tours (Monograms), there is no minimum age requirement.

Am I expected to pay gratuities?

For all departures we offer the option to pre-pay your gratuities. This option gives you a greater capacity to manage your holiday budget which means you will no longer need to reach into your pocket at the conclusion of your tour to pay your Tour Director and driver for their service. Please note that pre-paid gratuities cover only the land portion operated by Globus of the tour itinerary. Where we source other leading operators for cruising, rail or local guided elements of your holiday, the option to pre-pay your gratuities is not available.

How much luggage can I bring?

Porterage for one suitcase per person travelling is included in the holiday price. Airport and train station porterage is not included. Your single bag should not exceed the dimensions of 76 x 53 x 28cm (30" x 21" x 11") and weight of 22kg (50lbs). Carry-on luggage is limited to one bag per person travelling and must not exceed the dimensions of 30 x 28 x 14cm (12" x 11" x 6"). For safety reasons, wheeled carry on bags are not suitable and will not be permitted as hand luggage on the coaches. Carry-on bags must be small enough to store in overhead bins or under the seat of you.

Can I book optional excursions before travel?

You can pre purchase selected optional excursions for your tour between 90 and 10 days prior to departure, on departures which have been placed onto a "Guaranteed Departure" status. Your Global Journeys Tour Consultant will provide more information to you at the time.

What are the standard bed configurations?

Every effort is made to reserve only twin-bedding room. Occasionally, some hotels will only provide double-bedded rooms. These rooms will be allocated to couple where possible. If your preference is for a double bed, please request this at time of booking. Please note that as we do not own the hotels, and it is the hotels themselves that undertake the room allocation, double rooms are only a request and cannot be guaranteed.

Are there laundry facilities?

Most hotels offer a laundry service, however it can sometimes be costly. Alternatively, some cities offer Laundromats.

What is SafetyNet Protection?

Globus is dedicated to ensuring your trip is worry and hassle free, even when booking. Should you be uncertain what your commitments will be leading up to your departure, Globus offer an optional SafetyNet Protection policy for an additional fee. Read more here.

Is there Wi-Fi on the coach?

Globus coaches offer free wireless internet connection whilst touring. This allows you to browse online and share your experience with your friends and family back home. We need to highlight free wireless availability in coaches is not offered on local coaches used for transfers or occasionally for sightseeing tours. Wireless service is not available in some countries and certain regions of other countries that do not have Wi-Fi service coverage. Downloading is not available on the coaches but you can do this in the hotels. Please check with the hotel reception or concierge where the free Wi-Fi is located in each hotel.

What can my London Host offer me?

Unlike other tour operators Globus has 50 hosts located at the airport and in each of our London hotels, so you only have to walk to the lobby not half way across London for assistance. Your host is there to help you with all your questions on London, they will provide you with maps, directions and a wide range of tours to ensure you see the best of London. Whether it be a city orientation tour, or dinner and a West End show your host will provide you with all the information and assistance you require.

Can I change my mind after booking?

Should you be uncertain what your commitments will be leading up to your departure, Globus offers an optional SafetyNet Protection policy for an additional fee. SafetyNet Protection must be paid at the time of the tour deposit and is payable per person per booking (not per tour) and is non-refundable . Read more here.

I'm finding it difficult to match two tours together?

You can add pre/post tour accommodation to your reservation. This price does include breakfast on Globus tours. Please note that hotels are subject to change but by booking your pre/post accommodation with us this ensures that if your hotel changes then we will try to change your pre/post accommodation to the same hotel. On the rare occasions that there is no available then alternative accommodation will be reserved at a hotel of equivalent standard. If this does occur than the transfer between the hotels will be at our expense.

Why is my contact information collected when I book?

There may be times when unforeseen events beyond our control impacttravel schedules and potentially disrupt cruises, tours, or packages. These include, but are not limited to, severe weather conditions, acts of nature, and government travel advisories. Under such circumstances, it is critical that Globus be able to contact you immediately and reliably - including nights, weekends, and holidays - to make sure we've informed you of any possible changes to your travel.
