Costsaver Tour Reviews (204)
My interactions with Global Journeys were convenient and hassle free. Jemma was a pleasure to deal with, friendly and she took care of the entire booking. The Irish Wonders tour through Costsaver was such a joy: well organised, in-depth and included spectacular destinations and experiences. Hotels were clean and great quality. I would highly recommend this tour and I would also highly recommend booking through Global Journeys.

“Smooth trip through Spain and Portugal”
The tour ran smoothly. All tour members from different countries got along well. The tour director was very caring and had a broad historical knowledge about Spain and Portugal. The cities were very clean and beautiful with green trees. The driver was very friendly and helpful. Thank you Global Journeys and Jemma for looking after my booking. See you next time.

“Great value, hard to beat!”
Our tour was great value and our tour guide MJ and driver Ludwig were the best. It was our first coach tour but would be hard to beat. Optional Experiences were perfect and good value.
Was early starts around 6.30 am for breakfast and 7.30 am on the coach but there was a reason for this. Reason being we arrived first or close to first at the coach stops and various places we stopped at to tour. Some long days but it's a European Experience. Otherwise you would need to do a month long one to see more.

We have just completed the Blues Highway Chicago to New Orleans 11 day tour. Our tour director Jack and driver Dante were both exceptional. Jack had so much information and history about everywhere we visited and nothing was too much trouble for our driver.
We do think the Clarksdale stop is unnecessary and too long and extra time in New Orleans would be more beneficial. Overall the tour was good although the plastic cutlery at every hotel was a little disappointing. We also would be hesitant to fly with Qantas again as it was total debacle from cancelling our flight 12 hours before departure until arriving in Chicago nearly two days later.

We spent most time in Russia and it was great. Saint Petersburg, Novgorod and Moscow the three nightly stays and each presented us with eye opening insight into the Russian culture and history. Palaces, wow, people very accommodating and helpful. Have to admit we were a bit apprehensive about about venturing into Russia given the bad press it gets in the Western press but our fears were soon put to ease. Would go back no problem.
Other places on the tour were Copenhagen, Stockholm, Helsinki, Minsk and Warsaw. They all offered some great experiences. Optional tours whilst seemed expensive were top class and completed the tour. Tour guide and coach driver, well you could not ask for better. Goran and Tomic where very good. Goran, our guide, was approachable, helpful and considerate. He ran a tight ship and no one complained.
He did introduce us to vodka as a night cap and arranged a pre-departure dinner with a musician. The main dinner was the following night. In summary not everyone has the same taste but based upon our likes and dislikes I would recommend this tour. Maybe a little hectic and optional tours expensive but still worth it.

“Fantastic tour of Italy”
We had not realised the tour started right on Easter when we booked it - lesson learned, it was busier than normal and itineraries were changed. Despite this, the 12 days were fantastic, great group of people aged between 20 - late 70's, everyone got on so well.
Mainly I would say thanks to our wonderful Tour Director Giacomo who was just so accommodating, patient, passionate about his country, empathetic to our needs, he really brought us all together as one big family. As with Costsaver tours you end up paying more because of the Optionals, however, at least you can decide if you want to do them or not. This was our third Costsaver tour and we highly recommend this company.

Wow, this was an amazing way to get a taste of Greece! Our tour was really comprehensive given that we only had a few days in Athens, Mykonos and Santorini. We went to the Acropolis, drank unique wine in Santorini, went to Paradise Beach for a party in Mykonos, saw the blue domes in Santorini and met some great people! Although our accommodation was a little further out of town, it was easy to get around and this tour offered great flexibility to explore further! Highly recommended! :D

Great tour, small group of 22 people. Only drawback, most hotels too far out of city areas to do anything yourself. The highlight for me being Mount Etna, my main reason for going to Sicily. Overcast day heading out & fog, we were all very worried we wouldn't see the Volcano, but luck was on our side, about 3/4 of the way up we rounded a bend, came through the fog & voila, blue skies, it was a perfect day for visiting Mt Etna. On our way down we looked back and it had started smoking.

Costsaver Tour FAQ's
Frequently asked questions for clients considering travelling with Costsaver
Before I book
What is the difference between Trafalgar's First Class and CostSaver European tours? When can I expect to get my travel documents & itinerary?
Both provide exceptional value for money, with the same professional service of a Tour Director and Driver and comfortable coaches. First Class tours include First Class Hotels, buffet breakfast daily and more sightseeing inclusions. CostSaver hotels are guaranteed Superior Tourist class or better and continental style breakfast daily.
How many people will be on my trip?
Travel documents, including any air tickets, tour itinerary, hotel lists, and helpful hints and other information are sent approximately 20 days prior to your tour departure. Your Global Journeys Travel Advisor can organise these earlier if you are travelling before your holiday starts.
Will I have free time?
You'll find an average of 40 to 45 guests on trips throughout Europe, and a maximum of 52 guests on trips throughout the United States and Canada.
What are the coaches like?
Each itinerary offers the perfect balance of downtime and discoveries. We also give you the opportunity to tailor your trip with Optional Experiences. You might choose to enjoy some of the best seats in the house at the world-famous Moulin Rouge in Paris. Or maybe take a magical early-morning balloon ride over the Napa Valley. Trafalgar's At Leisure tours offer a more relaxed pace, with later starts and longer stays in each place.
Are the hotels air conditioned?
We pride ourselves on having the finest fleet of fuel-efficient, fully air-conditioned coaches – all with reclining seats and on-board restrooms. The high vantage point from your coach's window means you can take in all the glorious scenery, whether it's a vast rural landscape or an urban city centre. We also have on board WiFi.
Can I book a group of friends?
We select our hotels for their quality, impeccable service and comfort, with the majority of them having air-conditioning. Few hotels in the northern Alps or Europe have air conditioning due to the colder climate.
What is the single traveller supplement?
Global Journeys take the hassle out of booking a group holiday - and we offer some great discounts for five or more people. Groups of five to eight people will receive 5% off the land-only part of their trip, and larger groups will save even more.
What if I have special dietary requirements?
If you prefer the privacy of your own room, you can opt for our single supplement. The cost will depend on your trip and can be found in the pricing section of the itinerary. On many of our trips we offer discounts on the standard single supplement. If you'd rather not incur the additional expense, consider our single traveller room share option. We'll accommodate you with a fellow guest of the same gender, on a twin-bed basis.
We can accommodate guests who are vegetarian and can assist with diabetic, gluten-free and other medically-recommended diets. Please advise us at time of booking. Unfortunately, we're unable to supply meals in accordance with strict religious requirements. We can't provide salt-free, Kosher, Halal, requests for specific dietary supplements such as soya milk, and high protein or low-carb meals.
Before I depart
How much luggage can I bring? Are tips included?
You can bring one suitcase per person with the dimensions of 76cm x 46cm x 25cm (30" x 18" x 10") and weight not exceeding 23kg (50 lbs) due to the limited space on the coach. You can also bring one piece of hand luggage, provided it is small enough to take on the coach and does not have telescopic handles. All baggage handling is provided at no extra charge. One suitcase per person will be brought to your hotel room.
What is Gold Seal Protection?
We'll check you in, look after your luggage and take care of all hotel porterage, tips and gratuities - whether it is for restaurant staff, chambermaids or porters. The option to pre-pay gratuities for the Travel Director and Driver is available. Please request this at the time of enquiry and your Travel Advisor will include it in your quote.
Will I need to pack formal clothes?
Gold Seal Protection is designed to provide you with peace of mind. For $99 should you choose to cancel your guided holiday for any reason, prior to departure, Trafalgar will refund your deposit and/or guided holiday payment.
Gold Seal Protection must be paid with the deposit and cannot be added at any later date. If you wish for us to include this protection in your quote, please let us know when enquiring with us.
This will depend on not only your personal preference, but the destinations you're visiting and the time of year you'll be travelling. We'd recommend bringing at least one smart outfit for special evenings.
On the road
What are Optional Experiences and when can I book them? Will I need electrical adaptors?
We realise that everyone likes some time to themselves, which is why we've left free time on all of our itineraries. If you want to get the most out of your destination, our Optional Experiences let you tailor your trip. Your Travel Director will tell you about all of the Optional Experiences available on the first day of your trip. Payment can be made by credit card or cash.
Will I be able to get laundry done?
Electrical plugs and outlets differ throughout the world. We recommend bringing a universal travel adaptor that's suitable for the countries you are travelling to.
Is there seat rotation on the coach?
Most hotels do offer a laundry service and in some cities Laundromats are also available. However, it's sensible to try and pack enough clothing to avoid having to do laundry, as it can sometimes be costly or inconvenient.
What if I become ill on my trip and am unable to continue?
Yes, your Travel Director will implement a seat rotation system, whereby all guests will rotate their seats on the coach daily. This allows for everyone to experience the spectacular views from different seats, and you'll have a better opportunity to get to know your fellow travellers.
Your Travel Director will assist you with a doctor's visit or hospitalisation should you require. Trafalgar has a dedicated Customer Care Department in Europe, or our Operations Department in the relevant country will contact you to offer assistance and advice, coordinate with your travel insurance company and keep in touch until you are able to re-join the trip or return home. This service is included in the cost of your trip; however it is not a replacement for travel insurance, which we strongly advise you to purchase.
