Who goes on a Busabout tour?
Busabout itineraries have been designed for passengers aged 18 years and over who are open to a free spirited adventure. While there is no upper age limit, Busabout passengers are primarily aged 18-45 years.
How many people will be on my tour?
The number of passengers on your tour depends on your tour style. A Small Group Adventure accommodates a maximum of 20 travellers, while on Winter Trips there may be up to 53 guests and on Adventure itineraries, you’ll travel with 52 kindred spirits in Europe, 35 in USA, and 28 in Asia. Sailing trips have a maximum group size of 34, while Island Hopping is capped at 48 passengers in Europe and 28 in Asia. Festival trips aren’t capped and are subject to availability. Rest assured there will be other likeminded Busabout travellers to share your experience with and a Busabout crew on hand to look out for you.
Are Busabout tours guaranteed?
Busabout don’t operate a minimum passenger number policy, they offer a Book and Go Guarantee. Once you’ve booked, your trip is guaranteed to run. If your sailing trip is impacted by weather conditions then Busabout will modify the itinerary to make sure you still have a great time, and if in the rare event that the festival you’ve arranged to attend is cancelled you’ll get a full refund or the option to swap to another tour.
Is there an age limit to Busabout?
You need to be 18 or over at time of travel, and there is no upper age limit for Busabout trips. Busabout can, in exceptional circumstances, give confirmation of acceptance of a person under 18 years provided they are accompanied by a person 18 years or over - for enquiries regarding this please contact your consultant.
I'm thinking of travelling on my own. Will I meet any other solo travellers?
Absolutely! The great thing about Busabout is that it’s so easy to meet likeminded independent travellers and you’ll soon have heaps of new friends. Also, with Busabout’s Trip Mates and Community you can get in touch with fellow travel pals before you start.
Do I need travel insurance?
Travel insurance is compulsory for all Busabout travellers and should be taken out before or at the time of booking. Busabout requires that you take out comprehensive insurance cover for cancellation, medical expenses, personal accident, personal baggage, money and public liability before you travel. Busabout may require you to provide details of your insurance as a condition of travel.
Will my belongings be safe at the festivals campsite?
Busabout operate a 24 hour info tent, located next to where the sleeping tents are, to watch over everything. However, Busabout cannot be held responsible if your personal belongings go missing. Please take precautions where possible.
Where can I book the optional extras and excursions?
All optional extras and excursions will be available to book through your Busabout Guide on the trip.
Can I change my departure dates?
Yes, depending on availability there is no problem to change dates (a small fee applies). If the new date is more expensive the difference will also need to be paid. You can also transfer the funds you’ve already paid over to another trip of the same or higher value if you change your mind, as long as it is outside of the notification period.
What happens if I cancel my trip?
A cancellation fee applies based on the length of the trip and how soon the departure date is. This information can be found in the terms and conditions listed below.
How will I receive my travel documents?
All Busabout documentation is electronic, so you will be emailed a copy of your travel documents.
What is Busabout’s accommodation like?
The accommodation used on your trip will depend on your travel style and itinerary. Busabout always select a great variety of well located, clean, safe options with top facilities. From chic modern city hostels with all the bells and whistles, or quirky, cool and independent hostels in some of their smaller destinations, to traditional and modern hotels, resort style campsites, beach resorts and the odd guesthouse too.
On some itineraries you’ll get to try out some truly authentic accommodation, like a Berber camp in Morocco or homestay in Vietnam. Take to the water to enjoy sailboats in Croatia, traditional gulets in Turkey, junk boats in Vietnam and jungle rafts in Thailand.
Accommodation is generally multi-share and there is often the option to upgrade to twin-share. Upgrades to a single share are only offered on very select trips and subject to availability. As Busabout primarily use hostels, there is a very small number of single share availability. Ask your consultant if you are interested in upgrading your accommodation.
Am I expected to leave gratuities?
It would also be usual to give your tour guide a tip at the end of the tour if he/she has done a good job. The amount is entirely at your discretion, and is not mandatory, but it is always much appreciated.
Why is my contact information collected when I book?
There may be times when unforeseen events beyond our control impact travel schedules and potentially disrupt cruises, tours, or packages. These include, but are not limited to, severe weather conditions, acts of nature, and government travel advisories. Under such circumstances, it is critical that Busabout be able to contact you immediately and reliably - including nights, weekends, and holidays - to make sure we've informed you of any possible changes to your travel.
