Bunnik Tours are certainly the people to travel with. This is our third trip with them and each time they have provided a detailed itinerary, great organisation with surprises and extras along the way.

It is certainly appreciated when you have a Sri Lankan tour guide (Priya) who had the depth of knowledge about his own country and who was caring and thoughtful to the sixteen passengers on the trip. The group was comprised of single women and married couples - we all got on really well together. The bus driver and the assistant were also very considerate and helpful.

One of the highlights, apart from the daily attractions, was learning the Sri Lankan song which we were able to perform in several hotels! One of the extras was being given a recipe book and a copy of the song at the end of the trip. Our only regret was that we missed seeing a leopard at Yala National Park. This was an excellent trip and we would recommend it to anyone.

A full on itinerary packed with treats! The only negative I had was the less than average/acceptable accommodation and food provided at Kinabalu Pine Lodge. The only positive on that lodge was the view from my upstairs balcony.

Thoroughly enjoyed Sarawak, perhaps a little more that I did Sabah. All areas, including Brunei, had their own unique sights and highlights. I would recommend this tour and don't be put off by the amount of walking - there are occasions when you can sit back and relax and you can choose not to do all of the canopy treetop walks.

Of all the guides, I'd have to say our Sarawak guide/driver, Don, was just superb and proactive. He was also a good cook which we got to sample at a local village.

This was a very good tour but the Tour Director was very disappointing. She seldom gave local or weather info, or even stopped to go to the loo every couple of hours. The only thing she was adamant about was needing to sleep at night so don't call her - luckily none of us had a need to do so. The tour itself was fascinating and included many places we has never even heard of but we're nonetheless very much worth visiting. Of course we went to all the places we knew about. Both Bunnik Tours and Global Journeys are to be congratulated on a fantastic tour, it's just the we wouldn't use Elena again as a tour director if we had any choice. The local guides were all much better.
Reply from Bunnik:
Thank you for posting a review about your Southern Italy, Sicily & Malta tour. While it was great to hear that you enjoyed the tour we were concerned to read that you were not completely satisfied with your tour director, Elena. A tour director often sets the tone for the entire tour and our choice of guide is not taken lightly. We have taken your comments seriously and are monitoring all feedback that we receive relating to Elena. Encouragingly, we have already received several lots of feedback from others in your group and overwhelmingly it has been positive however we are investigating this further and will make any changes we feel are necessary to improve our clients' experience on tour. We were thrilled to read that you found the tour itself fascinating and enjoyed all of the places you visited. Thank you again for taking the time to leave your comments and for providing us with an opportunity to improve our service.

The tour, Jewels of Dalmatia, was an excellent introduction to some of the great old cities and parts of of Hungary, Croatia, Bosnia Herzegovina, Montenegro and Slovenia, with a parting farewell in the unique old Italian city, Venice. The scenery on the 3500 km journey was breathtaking, be it the mountains, forests, plateaus or the coasts. The old cities were rich with history and glorious architectural styles, with an ambiance found only where there has been a rich background of various cultures over the centuries.

Our coach was modern and comfortable, our driver excellent. The tour guide was personable, knowledgeable had infinite patience and always had our welfare at heart. We didn't have the cities all to ourselves. It must be the 'go to' destination of Europe at the moment (Sept 2017) as we always had lost of other coaches plus a number of cruise ships for company. Sometimes it meant it took a while longer to access facilities, cafes and shops.

Overall, the tour was busy and would suit people who like to be on the go.

We loved travelling in a small group of only 20 people. Highlights were Rome, Sorrento, Amalfi Coast, Alberobello, Matera, Giardini Naxos and Malta. We absolutely loved Malta. Everything went smoothly, the accommodation was good and the tour guides were brilliant.

About Bunnik Why you should choose to travel with Bunnik on your next holiday
Bunnik Small Group Touring
Bunnik Small Group Touring

When Marion Bunnik started Bunnik Tours, Australia didn't need another tour company - it needed a better way of touring! In an industry dominated by large multinationals and mass tourism, Bunnik Tours stands alone. Our aim is simple, to provide a better way for Australians to see the world. As a family business we understand that our family's name and reputation is at stake every time we sell a holiday. That's why we're proud to call these tours our own.

Small Groups of 20
Small Groups of 20

Bunnik's maximum group size is just 20, and even less for some tours in Asia & Africa. For us small groups make for a better holiday experience. They are more personal and you spend less time waiting and more time enjoying your holiday. Small groups are better for sustainability too! We get to visit smaller local businesses on our travels and stay in smaller centrally-located properties which are often impractical for large groups.

Return International Flights
Return International Flights

Unlike most tour companies, Bunnik include domestic and international flights from Australia in all of our small group tour packages. Plus our airfares have built-in flexibility so you're able to extend your stay, fly in or out of other cities or upgrade your flights to business or first class. Anything is possible just ask Global Journeys friendly team of consultants.

Spacious & Comfortable Coaches
Spacious & Comfortable Coaches

While Bunnik's smaller groups mean you'll enjoy plenty of space on-board your coach, you can also expect plenty of variety as you explore the world with Bunnik Tours. You'll travel on camels in Egypt, and on traditional boats in the Amazon, Egypt and Turkey. While in other parts of the world, we use the most amazing collection of jeeps, old Chevys, cyclos and rickshaws.

Unique Local Experiences
Unique Local Experiences

Small group touring is about being shown around by locals and really capturing the essence of the destination. It means seeing the famous attractions but also wandering off the tourist trail. So much more than just a coach tour, you'll experience the culture, meet the locals and savour the wonderful food. That's why we also include a range of experiences designed to capture the essence of the places we visit. Experiences like enjoying lunch with a local family in a small rural village in Sri Lanka, making Pizza in Sorrento, Italy, travelling by traditional style boats or exploring the deserts of India, Jordan and Morocco by camel!

Comprehensive Sightseeing
Comprehensive Sightseeing

Bunnik's well-balanced itineraries are designed specifically for Australian travellers. We put great effort into getting the right balance between organised touring and free time, after all it is a holiday! We include all the essential sights that others consider "optional extras", while providing plenty of time for you to explore & discover. Our sightseeing is carefully balanced so you don't suffer 'temple overload'! For example, in Egypt we contrast the wonderful antiquities with a relaxing visit to the clear blue waters of the Red Sea, while in Turkey we take time out to enjoy a cooking class in the surreal landscape of Cappadocia. You get to truly experience a destination rather than 'ticking off' tourist sights as quickly as possible. The end result? A better holiday for you.

Bunnik FAQ's Some of the frequently asked questions Bunnik receive from their clients
What are the average ages of people travelling on a Bunnik Tour?

Bunnik group tours have been specifically designed for 'the not too young and not too old'. There are lots of tour companies out there catering for the younger party crowd or the older traveller so we like to think of our tours as being for the forgotten age group in between, that's people aged 45-65. However, we have many people enjoying our tours who are younger than 45 and older than 65. So you'll find we never discriminate on the basis of age. Please note though passengers over 70 will be required to obtain a doctors clearance before travelling.

Can I bring my children on tour with me?

Children aged 14 and over can travel on our group tours.

You say all your tours operate in small groups, what are the group sizes?

Group size is important when travelling. Small groups mean less time waiting and more time enjoying your holiday. For our 2017 season we've limited group sizes to a maximum of 20 across all our small group tours. Some regions like Africa offer even smaller groups of 12.

What standard of hotels do you use on your tours?

On our tours we use good quality 3-4 star hotels. However, rather than concentrate solely on star ratings and creature comforts we choose our hotels based on the following criteria: cleanliness, great service, atmosphere and location.

What type of transport does Bunnik use?

Expect plenty of variety as you explore the world with Bunnik Tours. You'll travel on elephants in India and Thailand and on traditional boats in the Amazon, Egypt and Turkey. While in other parts of the world, we use the most amazing collection of jeeps, old Chevys, cyclos and rickshaws. At last count we offered more than 10 completely different train experiences, including Japan's exhilarating bullet train. Yes, our mini-busses and coaches are clean and air-conditioned, but we think you'll enjoy everything else so much more.

I am a single traveller, am I still able to travel on one of your group tours?

Single travellers are welcome on all Bunniks tours and make up a fair number of passengers. You can choose to have a single room and pay a single supplement or you can ask us to match you up with another traveller of the same gender and pay just the twin-share rate.

On some of your tours you have a tipping made easy program how does this work?

In many parts of the world tipping is a customary practice and often makes up a large part of people's wages so it's important to get it right. Our tipping made easy program is a simple system that sees us collect tips at time of booking. We then pay these tips to our local staff and they take care of all the tips. Easy! Please note on tours where 'tipping made easy' operates it is compulsory that all tour members participate.

The tour I am interested in doesn't have tipping made easy, it says tips are payable locally what does this mean?

On tours where tipping made easy doesn't apply we advise you how much you should allow for tips, which should be paid in the local currency. If you are unsure how much or who to tip we suggest you refer to your documentation as a suggested tipping list is included.

Are Bunnik tours escorted from Australia?

Bunnik tours are not escorted from Australia. You will be met on arrival at your destination by local guides and your tour will begin from there.

Do I have to be physically fit in order to travel on a Bunnik Tour?

Bunnik tours do require a certain level of fitness and mobility. You should be able to carry your own bags as porter services are not always available at all hotels, and you should be able to walk over 2km on uneven ground and climb several flights of stairs. Passengers who are 70 and over will be required to obtain a doctor's clearance before travelling.

Airfares are included in the tour costs, but what airlines do Bunnik use?

Bunnik use a number of different airlines depending on your destination these include; Singapore Airlines, Emirates, Virgin Airlines and Lan Chile.

Can I upgrade my flights to business class or premium economy?

Yes of course. You can even choose a different airline to the default one Bunnik uses. However, please keep in mind that you will need to pay the difference in the fare you choose compared to the airfare included.

Why should I take advantage of your special airfares when so many specials are on the market?

Two reasons – our fares are special wholesale fares which are usually as competitive if not less expensive than the specials you see advertised. Secondly, if you book a tour with us and we organise the airfare, you are protected in case we need to cancel the tour for any reason (if you book a special airfare yourself and we cancel the tour, you will be charged change/cancellation fees by the airlines).

Is it possible to go on a tour if I have already organised my own flights?

Certainly, for every tour in Bunniks program they also have a land only price which excludes the airfares. Please enquire on the tour you prefer, filling in your flight requirements in the comments section, for more information.

Can I depart earlier than an advertised departure date and return home later than the tour end date?

Yes, your flights are fully flexible with the departure and return dates. You can depart from Australia earlier than the rest of the tour group and return home later after the end of the tour. Bunnik Tours is a fully licensed travel agency and apart from booking Bunnik Tours for clients we can arrange any other holiday requests for you before and after your tour. This includes; flights, accommodation, car hire, rail passes and cruises.

Why is my contact information collected when I book?

There may be times when unforeseen events beyond our control impacttravel schedules and potentially disrupt cruises, tours, or packages. These include, but are not limited to, severe weather conditions, acts of nature, and government travel advisories. Under such circumstances, it is critical that Bunnik be able to contact you immediately and reliably - including nights, weekends, and holidays - to make sure we've informed you of any possible changes to your travel.
