“A Holiday You Wish Wouldn't End”
Trip:    Trip Date: 22/06/2017    Overall Rating: 5/5
This holiday exceeded our expectations. It was the first time we had travelled on a group tour, as we usually do our own thing, so we were a little anxious. The small group guarantee by Bunnik was therefore attractive.
Well, we couldn't have hoped for a better group of people, tour director or bus driver. They were all fantastic!

Norway was amazing!!!!! A postcard on every turn in the road and this tour didn't leave anything out. It would be so hard to pick a favourite location or site as there are simply too many to choose from. I guess if we had to pick a favourite town in Norway it would be Bergen, such a picturesque city with great people, food, wine and scenery. Norway is expensive, but we knew that when we booked, but I must say not as expensive as I first thought. It all depends on what you are shopping for!

The Cruise on the Baltics with Holland America was also fantastic. We hadn't been on a cruise since our early 20's so again a little anxious. All anxiety disappeared from the moment we set foot on the ship. The ship staff couldn't be more obliging. The quality of the service and food on board was amazing. Though the ship (MS Zuiderdam) was a little older than some others it was still in good shape and very comfortable.

All the ports we visited were great. I think Tallinn (Estonia) and Stockholm were probably our favourites. We only booked tours in St Petersburg and did our own thing in all the other ports. We heard mixed reports on the tours being offered by the Holland America, it really depended on who you spoke to.

Overall I would recommend this tour to people who want an enjoyable, hassle free holiday. The pace is good, with only a few longish days in the itinerary. We had one of the best holidays we have ever had and thank Global Journeys and Bunnik Travel for putting this together for us. We will definitely be back for more!

  “Couldn't have been better.”
Trip:    Trip Date: 22/06/2017    Overall Rating: 5/5
Having always organised our own trips and never having done a tour in a bus with others, we were nervous. However from day one everything was excellent and kept getting better! We can't praise our tour guide Mat and the driver Emanuel too highly. They were professional but fun. Their knowledge of the areas was a major factor and the organisation for each day went as smoothly as clockwork. Mind you our group of 13 could take some of the credit!

The itinerary was beautifully planned. When you thought it couldn't get any better, it did. The accommodation was always in wonderful locations and the rooms spacious and comfortable, All meals were excellent. The unexpected inclusions and the variety of activities were amazing. We initially thought the price was reasonable but came to think it was excellent value. We were looked after right up to the moment of boarding the cruise ship.

This also applies to our pre trip booking. Yvonne was the epitome of patience and helpfulness. Thank you Yvonne and Bunnik / Global Journeys. I've been singing your praises since returning home. The photo attached shows just one of the fabulous views from our hotel room.

  “Great holiday in Eastern Europe!”
Trip:    Trip Date: 19/06/2017    Overall Rating: 5/5
I travelled through six countries in Eastern Europe recently with a really great guide and sixteen other Aussies. All aspects of the trip - itinerary and arrangements - allowed the right combination of organised activities and time to explore. We could spend the entirety of our free days in art museums, or we could walk or shop. The tour group size encouraged positive interaction and cohesion, often everyone chose to eat together in the evenings. People were helpful and considerate: no one was habitually late or antisocial.

All the hotels were comfortable, and well-positioned close to public transport in larger cities, and right on the main square in the medieval town of Cesky Krumlov, which allowed us easy access to the whole town. The guides were generally knowledgeable and informative, but particularly our own tour guide was quietly considerate, capable and someone whose knowledge and judgment I grew to value very much.

The main cities we visited - Berlin, Warsaw, Kracow, Budapest, Vienna, Prague - were sensational, especially Vienna, but the travel days also incorporated stopping places that caught the imagination, like the sight of the ruined castle on a hill above the Danube at Durnstein in which Richard the Lionheart was imprisoned on his way back from the Crusades. Like Durnstein, our stops at Bratislava, Melk Abbey, Kutna Hora and other places added to the layers of history and culture available to us. The stay in Cesky Krumlov was like a country weekend in a medieval town.

I loved the bus travel, which allowed me to see geographical changes: the rivers, especially the Danube and Moldau, the Great Plain of Hungary, the vision of the High Tatra mountains in the distance, then up close. Overall, the tour was a huge success for me - lots of fun, but also comprehensive in its offerings of new knowledge and experiences.

“Overall we enjoyed our Northern Spain Portugal trip.”
Trip:    Trip Date: 23/05/2017    Overall Rating: 4/5
Our guide Fernando was awesome and often went out of his way to assist us. We were fortunate to have delightful travelling companions and everyone got on well . It is our opinion that the tour would work better in reverse and another day should be added to Madrid. There was just not enough time to see all that Madrid had to offer. Reversing the tour would mean some half day tours would be in the morning instead of the afternoon, particularly Evora. It was a very hot day and an afternoon walking tour was extremely unpleasant.

The accommodation in Madrid at the Sterling Hotel was way, way below standard. The room allocated to my husband and myself barely fitted a double bed ( not queen), there was no space for luggage, the bathroom was sub standard and the breakfast was the worst we had on the tour. (I tried to put my complaints on the Bunnik website but was unable to do it.) (GJ: That's OK Bruce & Pat, we'll pas them on.)

  “Our first organised tour”
Trip:    Trip Date: 22/05/2017    Overall Rating: 4/5
Would definitely book through Global Journeys again and would consider another Bunnik tour. The highlight for us was Northern Spain as the scenery was spectacular and wonderful towns and villages. We were a bit disappointed with the Algarve region as we didn't think we saw the best of this area or had enough options to explore on our own. Would have liked another day or two in Madrid. Overall though the tour was fantastic.

“Dalmatia Coast was more interesting and varied than expected”
Trip:    Trip Date: 07/05/2017    Overall Rating: 4/5
One negative, was lack of information about flight Options. Itinerary provided at last minute indicated only option via Heathrow which added almost a days flight time on both legs. As new Bunnik travellers we were not informed regarding alternative options. We were highly delighted with the tour and considered our tour guide instrumental in achieving a really positive experience. A great time had by all.

  “Wonderful Bunnicks Trip”
Trip:    Trip Date: 06/05/2017    Overall Rating: 5/5
After many years of being independent travellers this was our first experience with group travel via the 21 day Bunnik tour of Northern Italy, Slovenia and Croatia. We loved it for a variety of reasons including the great variety of activities covering both city and rural/parks locations - and varying from visiting churches to a pizza and gelato luncheon. We had an excellent guide for the land based travel and good quality accommodation and coach.

Bunnik took all the stress out of travelling between different cities with a great group of fellow travellers which added to the fun and a good balance between organised activities and free time.

As a swimmer the tour provided plenty of time and opportunities fro swimming around the Adriatic as well.

For the two weeks of land based touring Andre and the guide and Robert the driver were excellent - very informative and could not do enough for the travellers. a tribute to their efforts was that the tour group contributed a tip despite Bunniks already having made such a payment. Unfortunately the tour guide for the cruise based activities, Jan was not so good. Very laid back and the only time he showed any enthusiasm was when seeking a tip at the end of the cruise. Would not rate him.

Some of the city tours, particularly when visiting churches went into to much detail but overall the individual city/park guides were of a very high standard (particularly the guide in Split). We would definitely look at a Bunniks tour for future international travel.

  “Hassle free holiday”
Trip:    Trip Date: 02/05/2017    Overall Rating: 4/5
There were only 5 of us travelling from Kuching and finishing in Kota Kinabalu. We were all very experienced travellers who got on well for the 17 days. We had local guides who were impressed by our questions and curiosity about Sarawak and Sabah. We all felt that the people of Malaysian Borneo were friendly and happy.

The people of Brunei were the same and the mosques we visited in Bandar Seri Begawan were most impressive.
I would liked to have tasted more variety in the food especially in the river resorts. Seeing the orangutans and sun bears was interesting and the river cruises enabled us to see the animals in the wild.

We visited the war memorials set up in memory of the soldiers who died in the Sandakan death marches at the end of WW2. This will be a lasting memory. It was a truly interesting holiday, one which we all enjoyed immensely.

  “Wow what a trip!”
Trip:    Trip Date: 19/04/2017    Overall Rating: 5/5
Wow what a trip. Morocco was nothing like I imagined. I believe our local guide showed us the real Morocco and much more. A fascinating country and so varied. This part of the tour felt like an adventure. Using different modes of transport in this tour was a great idea, comfortable roomy bus travel, driving across the desert in 4wd drives, travelling across the Gibraltar Strait to Spain on a Tassie built ferry and the fast train rides.

The Spain part of the tour felt like a fabulous holiday. Our guide was so efficient and calm it was soothing and relaxing travelling with him. He showed us how to enjoy Spain, the food, the places and the people whilst imparting a wealth of knowledge to us. He also gave us great information about our after tour stay. The cooking sessions were brilliant but even better eating the results afterwards at our exclusive dining experiences.

I visited many places on this tour that I would never have found on my own. The unseen bonus of a tour like this is the people you meet that you never forget. I thoroughly enjoyed the Bunnik tour and would sign up for one again any day.

“A fantastic tour of Japan that covers a lot of cultural experiences”
Trip:    Trip Date: 12/04/2017    Overall Rating: 5/5
We really enjoyed our tour during Cherry Blossom time - seeing wonderful Japanese scenery, temples and gardens, all with magnificent weather. This tour also provided us with many Japanese experiences, such as lunch with Sumos, a traditional tea ceremony in a Japanese teahouse, a vegetarian lunch in a mountain top Buddhist Sanctuary, saki tasting in the charming sake brewing district of Kyoto, dressed up in a Kimono, saw a Geisha performance, made sushi, did 7 bullet train trips, caught a ferry over to the island of Miyajima Island, caught a gondola to see the sulphur fields near Mt Fuji, visited the UNESCO village of Shirakawago with its steep thatched roofed farmhouses, stayed in the mountains in Takayama in a traditional guesthouse with hot springs. This tour covered it all.

About Bunnik

Why you should choose to travel with Bunnik on your next holiday
Bunnik Small Group Touring
Bunnik Small Group Touring

When Marion Bunnik started Bunnik Tours, Australia didn't need another tour company - it needed a better way of touring! In an industry dominated by large multinationals and mass tourism, Bunnik Tours stands alone. Our aim is simple, to provide a better way for Australians to see the world. As a family business we understand that our family's name and reputation is at stake every time we sell a holiday. That's why we're proud to call these tours our own.

Small Groups of 20
Small Groups of 20

Bunnik's maximum group size is just 20, and even less for some tours in Asia & Africa. For us small groups make for a better holiday experience. They are more personal and you spend less time waiting and more time enjoying your holiday. Small groups are better for sustainability too! We get to visit smaller local businesses on our travels and stay in smaller centrally-located properties which are often impractical for large groups.

Return International Flights
Return International Flights

Unlike most tour companies, Bunnik include domestic and international flights from Australia in all of our small group tour packages. Plus our airfares have built-in flexibility so you're able to extend your stay, fly in or out of other cities or upgrade your flights to business or first class. Anything is possible just ask Global Journeys friendly team of consultants.

Spacious & Comfortable Coaches
Spacious & Comfortable Coaches

While Bunnik's smaller groups mean you'll enjoy plenty of space on-board your coach, you can also expect plenty of variety as you explore the world with Bunnik Tours. You'll travel on camels in Egypt, and on traditional boats in the Amazon, Egypt and Turkey. While in other parts of the world, we use the most amazing collection of jeeps, old Chevys, cyclos and rickshaws.

Unique Local Experiences
Unique Local Experiences

Small group touring is about being shown around by locals and really capturing the essence of the destination. It means seeing the famous attractions but also wandering off the tourist trail. So much more than just a coach tour, you'll experience the culture, meet the locals and savour the wonderful food. That's why we also include a range of experiences designed to capture the essence of the places we visit. Experiences like enjoying lunch with a local family in a small rural village in Sri Lanka, making Pizza in Sorrento, Italy, travelling by traditional style boats or exploring the deserts of India, Jordan and Morocco by camel!

Comprehensive Sightseeing
Comprehensive Sightseeing

Bunnik's well-balanced itineraries are designed specifically for Australian travellers. We put great effort into getting the right balance between organised touring and free time, after all it is a holiday! We include all the essential sights that others consider "optional extras", while providing plenty of time for you to explore & discover. Our sightseeing is carefully balanced so you don't suffer 'temple overload'! For example, in Egypt we contrast the wonderful antiquities with a relaxing visit to the clear blue waters of the Red Sea, while in Turkey we take time out to enjoy a cooking class in the surreal landscape of Cappadocia. You get to truly experience a destination rather than 'ticking off' tourist sights as quickly as possible. The end result? A better holiday for you.

Bunnik FAQ's

Some of the frequently asked questions Bunnik receive from their clients
What are the average ages of people travelling on a Bunnik Tour?

Bunnik group tours have been specifically designed for 'the not too young and not too old'. There are lots of tour companies out there catering for the younger party crowd or the older traveller so we like to think of our tours as being for the forgotten age group in between, that's people aged 45-65. However, we have many people enjoying our tours who are younger than 45 and older than 65. So you'll find we never discriminate on the basis of age. Please note though passengers over 70 will be required to obtain a doctors clearance before travelling.

Can I bring my children on tour with me?

Children aged 14 and over can travel on our group tours.

You say all your tours operate in small groups, what are the group sizes?

Group size is important when travelling. Small groups mean less time waiting and more time enjoying your holiday. For our 2017 season we've limited group sizes to a maximum of 20 across all our small group tours. Some regions like Africa offer even smaller groups of 12.

What standard of hotels do you use on your tours?

On our tours we use good quality 3-4 star hotels. However, rather than concentrate solely on star ratings and creature comforts we choose our hotels based on the following criteria: cleanliness, great service, atmosphere and location.

What type of transport does Bunnik use?

Expect plenty of variety as you explore the world with Bunnik Tours. You'll travel on elephants in India and Thailand and on traditional boats in the Amazon, Egypt and Turkey. While in other parts of the world, we use the most amazing collection of jeeps, old Chevys, cyclos and rickshaws. At last count we offered more than 10 completely different train experiences, including Japan's exhilarating bullet train. Yes, our mini-busses and coaches are clean and air-conditioned, but we think you'll enjoy everything else so much more.

I am a single traveller, am I still able to travel on one of your group tours?

Single travellers are welcome on all Bunniks tours and make up a fair number of passengers. You can choose to have a single room and pay a single supplement or you can ask us to match you up with another traveller of the same gender and pay just the twin-share rate.

On some of your tours you have a tipping made easy program how does this work?

In many parts of the world tipping is a customary practice and often makes up a large part of people's wages so it's important to get it right. Our tipping made easy program is a simple system that sees us collect tips at time of booking. We then pay these tips to our local staff and they take care of all the tips. Easy! Please note on tours where 'tipping made easy' operates it is compulsory that all tour members participate.

The tour I am interested in doesn't have tipping made easy, it says tips are payable locally what does this mean?

On tours where tipping made easy doesn't apply we advise you how much you should allow for tips, which should be paid in the local currency. If you are unsure how much or who to tip we suggest you refer to your documentation as a suggested tipping list is included.

Are Bunnik tours escorted from Australia?

Bunnik tours are not escorted from Australia. You will be met on arrival at your destination by local guides and your tour will begin from there.

Do I have to be physically fit in order to travel on a Bunnik Tour?

Bunnik tours do require a certain level of fitness and mobility. You should be able to carry your own bags as porter services are not always available at all hotels, and you should be able to walk over 2km on uneven ground and climb several flights of stairs. Passengers who are 70 and over will be required to obtain a doctor's clearance before travelling.

Airfares are included in the tour costs, but what airlines do Bunnik use?

Bunnik use a number of different airlines depending on your destination these include; Singapore Airlines, Emirates, Virgin Airlines and Lan Chile.

Can I upgrade my flights to business class or premium economy?

Yes of course. You can even choose a different airline to the default one Bunnik uses. However, please keep in mind that you will need to pay the difference in the fare you choose compared to the airfare included.

Why should I take advantage of your special airfares when so many specials are on the market?

Two reasons – our fares are special wholesale fares which are usually as competitive if not less expensive than the specials you see advertised. Secondly, if you book a tour with us and we organise the airfare, you are protected in case we need to cancel the tour for any reason (if you book a special airfare yourself and we cancel the tour, you will be charged change/cancellation fees by the airlines).

Is it possible to go on a tour if I have already organised my own flights?

Certainly, for every tour in Bunniks program they also have a land only price which excludes the airfares. Please enquire on the tour you prefer, filling in your flight requirements in the comments section, for more information.

Can I depart earlier than an advertised departure date and return home later than the tour end date?

Yes, your flights are fully flexible with the departure and return dates. You can depart from Australia earlier than the rest of the tour group and return home later after the end of the tour. Bunnik Tours is a fully licensed travel agency and apart from booking Bunnik Tours for clients we can arrange any other holiday requests for you before and after your tour. This includes; flights, accommodation, car hire, rail passes and cruises.

Why is my contact information collected when I book?

There may be times when unforeseen events beyond our control impacttravel schedules and potentially disrupt cruises, tours, or packages. These include, but are not limited to, severe weather conditions, acts of nature, and government travel advisories. Under such circumstances, it is critical that Bunnik be able to contact you immediately and reliably - including nights, weekends, and holidays - to make sure we've informed you of any possible changes to your travel.
