  “Italian Lakes & Tuscany”
Trip:    Trip Date: 20/08/2017    Overall Rating: 4/5
I was very keen to try 'Albatross' tours, because of the longer stays & thought it would be a more relaxed & better pace tour. The 4 /3 nights stay was very good, however, the pace & time/motion factors felt rushed....perhaps they could review their itinerary, & streamline the tour organisation. Farmhouse dinners were pleasant but not up to other tour ones I have done. Accommodation was generally, excellent. Incidents, such as the coach breaking down was managed well. Italian Lakes & Tuscany, a wonderful area to revisit again.

  “Hassle-free Holiday”
Trip:    Trip Date: 13/08/2017    Overall Rating: 5/5
This was my second Albatross tour in twelve months. Albatross Tours may be more expensive than some other well-known companies however there are many extra things included such as dinner with a drink plus tea or coffee on nine nights. There are no optional tours involving extra costs and the tours are designed for Australians and New Zealanders.

We stayed at each quality hotel for two or three nights and the earliest we ever had to leave a hotel was 8.30am. Generally we left at 9.00am and were back between 5.00 and 5.30pm. We all had a good rapport with the Tour Leader and the Driver. Our tour leader actually had been involved in designing this tour in conjunction with the Australian firm and if necessary or advisable was able to make modifications to the itinerary. For example, he swapped some activities to avoid having a 9.00am to 11.00pm full day. In doing so we did not miss anything.

On a couple of occasions the order of activities on a day were changed to avoid being outdoor in the rain. If people were spending some free afternoon time in a town the company would arrange to pick them up at a certain time if they so wished. Having done over thirty organized tour I know that many companies do not provide such services. The included meals were all very good and on this tour the final dinner in Dublin was a multi course menu served to first class passengers on the Titanic. Albatross also limit the number of travellers and provide a large coach with plenty of extra seats. By booking with Global Journeys who I have found to be extremely efficient and helpful, I also saved money.

“Great first trip to the UK”
Trip:    Trip Date: 24/07/2017    Overall Rating: 5/5
A very well organised small group tour of Britain and Scotland. Multiple days stays gave it a more relaxed feel than your typical coach tour. Quality historical accommodation added to the enjoyment of the trip with the highlight being a final night stay in a State Room at Leeds Castle. With only 26 people in a 48 seater coach there was plenty of space to stretch out and getting on and off was quick and easy.

As a three time traveler with Albatross I was as ever very happy with the trip. Every day was a new adventure and the standard of accommodation, the bus, and most of the meals were very good. I hope to do another tour next year!

“La Grande France, Lake Garda & Tuscany”
Trip:    Trip Date: 07/06/2017    Overall Rating: 4/5
Many highlights on this combined tour; too many to nominate. France was wonderful and I especially liked the small medieval towns such as Sarlat La Caneda, Les Baux, Avignon and St Paul de Vence. I also enjoyed Cap Ferrat, Nimes, Nice and Cannes, and Provence in general too. What I enjoyed most about the Italian extension was the easy pace; not just the three and four night stays but the amount of free time. The highlight there was Lucca. Cinque Terre was lovely but I wasn't terribly impressed with Portofino and it was very disappointing that we spent literally 20 minutes in Santa Margherita due to the guide wanting to make sure we caught boats to the Abbey and Portofino because of possible weather changes.

If the itinerary appealed to me I'd travel again with Albatross and if the price was right I'd book again with Global Journeys. The accommodation was a bit mixed in quality and comfort, particularly for those of us travelling solo. In Couiza we stayed at an old chateau, which was charming, but it was not air-conditioned and it was uncomfortably hot, particularly in my room (and two others) on the top floor. Shutters had to be kept shut all day. Too often, hotels put single travellers in some of the worst rooms. We understand they can be small in Europe but while some rooms were nice, others were not.

The weather was warm and sunny and June is a good time to travel as the crowds are not yet at their peak. Fellow travellers are always a mixed bunch but people generally get along okay in all the tours I've been on, including this one.

Stunning Italian lakes, historical walled city of Lucca combined with the beauty of the Cinque Terre. This trip was relaxing with multi night stays in quality hotels. Our guide and driver were first class and the small group (20) interacted well. The large coach ensured comfortable touring. Included excursions and dinners were extensive and fun. Global Journeys provided a seamless booking process and are recommended to other travellers.

What a memorable tour. All of the major tourist attractions as well as some amazing one off experiences, like arriving into Lisbon as the national football team presented with the trophy in front of thousands of fans, or the street procession of the Saint of good health carried by 30 men thru the streets of Seville. The included excursions were magical especially the port tour, tasting and lunch in Porto. Fantastic brand new coach and the most wonderful tour guide imaginable. Magnifico!

Trip: Albatross Tour (NYP)    Trip Date: 28/12/2016    Overall Rating: 5/5
Again, thank you to Yvonne (Global Journeys) for her expertise in putting together our holiday. Albatross (3rd time travellers with them) pieced together a great guided holiday. However after an excellent week of superb accommodation and top quality meals we believe that Albatross let our small group down badly. Apparently this particular escorted holiday has changed recently and our last day of travel proved to be disastrous for many in our group. After our coach delivering us to the Station in France we were left to board the Eurostar for the journey to London. Huge crowds, trying to transport heavy luggage through the Rail Station, and then nowhere to store luggage made the trip a nightmare. I and many fellow travellers in the group felt very let down. We had people in our group unable to handle luggage etc and these travellers had to rely on fellow travellers. Albatross I believe have lost future sales following the "last day" debacle. A shame given the holiday on the days prior had been so wonderful. Cannot understand why the itinerary has changed and if they keep this current itinerary, they need to book travellers into 1st class section on the Eurostar and possibly employ an extra guide for that day to assist. Our tour guide himself was excellent and I believe he too would have been disappointed with the final travel day.

Thoroughly enjoyed our Christmas spent in Wilderswill in Switzerland. The Swiss Rail Pass included in our Albatross holiday proved to be a great way of getting about and exploring the nearby snow capped Alps. Cannot thank Yvonne (Global Journeys) enough for the smooth way in which she handled our booking.

About Albatross

Why you should choose to travel with Albatross on your next holiday
Tours Designed For You
Tours Designed For You

Albatross Tours have created tours specifically for people like you travelling to the far side of the world, and wanting more from their escorted coach tour than a few hurried, all too brief visits and repetitive, long intercity drives. That is why we ensure the touring pace is always so much more sensible! Longer stays in each destination provide you with far more time for sightseeing, and a more fulfilling overall touring experience. That is also why we make sure each tour is genuinely inclusive, with no additional 'on tour' costs. We know Australians and New Zealanders can be uneasy with tipping, so we have included all 'on tour' gratuities and end of tour tips. We include two, three, four and even five night stays in each captivating city and region. One night stops are avoided where possible, and some days are left completely free – for the simple pleasure of it!

Enjoy Longer Stays
Enjoy Longer Stays

Enjoy longer stays with 2, 3, 4 and even up to 7 night stops. Everybody hates unpacking their bags every evening, and then having to re-pack them again early the next morning. That is why, apart from possibly the first or last night of the tour, there are virtually no 'one night stops' on any of our programmes. Instead, we make sure our tours always have a much more sensible pace by including two, three, four and even seven night stays in each captivating city or region. Our itineraries are always packed with numerous included sightseeing excursions and extras, but we still ensure you have quality leisure time to relax and savour your surroundings. We have even left some days completely free – for the simple pleasure of it!

See More & Experience More With Albatross
See More & Experience More With Albatross

When we design our tours we first look at each region and we ask what must be done, what can be done, and what should be done. Our objective is to give you a more rewarding experience and allow you time to 'stay a while' and savour the destination. We then break these down into carefully balanced touring days. Some days might have quite conventional visits to towns and cities. On other days we will add activities that are distinctly provincial, maybe quirky or possibly even something for the simple pleasure of it.

Albatross Tours Offer Genuinely Inclusive Tours
Albatross Tours Genuinely Inclusive

Albatross tours are genuinely inclusive and include all of those special excursions and visits, sightseeing tours and feature dinners. We even include the end of tour tips to your tour manager and driver! You will not be charged on your tour for special 'optional' excursions such as a feature dinner or entry to an attraction such as Neuschwanstein Castle. Why? We believe these expensive hidden extras usually costing over $100 per person per day are entirely predictable so we have already included them in our tour price. This means you will find it far easier to budget for your daily holiday expenses and you will have complete transparency on where you money is going. We encourage you to compare our tour prices on a cost per day basis, and take into consideration that Albatross Tours have NO additional 'on tour' costs. Rest assured, by the time you get back home and walk back through your front door you will not have paid any more .

Albatross Small Group Touring
Small Groups - Maximum of 28 people on our European Summer Tours!*

We limit the maximum size of each of our European Summer group departures to just 28 travellers*. In fact our average group size is just 22. There are so many benefits to travelling in a small group. Naturally less time is wasted getting on and off the coach and there are always a noticeable number of spare seats when travelling. Another significant benefit is the swifter, priority access you will have to all the attractions and special events. A more manageable group size leads to a higher level of personal service from your Tour Manager. Simply put, everything is just much more personal. Our small groups can stay in hotels chosen for their style, character and location – authentic hotels that larger tour groups often cannot consider staying in. Dining out is also more enjoyable as we can use delightful local restaurants rather than standard, larger group establishments.

*All European Summer tours are capped at only 28 travellers. Albatross Tours Christmas or ANZAC tours carry up to 40 travellers.

Stay In Character Style Hotels In Superb Locations
Stay In Character Style Hotels In Superb Locations

At Albatross, we know how important where you stay is. Your enjoyment will be wonderfully enhanced by staying in a delightful family run Gasthof hotel with balconies that have window boxes bursting with geraniums, or a beautifully renovated cave room reminiscent of the 'Flintstones', or a superb ancient castle dating back centuries. Would you rather return home telling tales of having woken in a 500 year old Inn as opposed to staying in a standard, modern glass and concrete 'block' and feeling you could literally be anywhere? In addition to centrally located city hotels, we purposefully aim to stay in a variety of authentic regional hotels with character and charm. In properties with a regional style or ambience, sometimes 'olde worlde', or simply elegant with nostalgia, and sometimes with surprises and where every room is different .
