I have travelled extensively overseas but wanted to see more of Australia. I had never been to Perth or travelled below Broome so I chose the Untamed Pilbara and West Coast tour with AAT Kings. What a magical part of Australia. The tour was excellent and I would recommend it to anyone.

“Wonderful trip through a magnificent part of Aus!”
Trip:    Trip Date: 27/06/2017    Overall Rating: 5/5
This AAT Kings tour was excellent. The itinerary was good and even though there were a number of places where we would have liked to spend more time, we could not identify a corresponding part that could be left off! The accommodation, meals and inclusions were excellent and we were very lucky that there were only 26 on the tour, so there was plenty of room on the coach. The Tour Director and driver were also excellent and really made this trip one to remember. We would highly recommend this tour for anyone who wants to see some of this magnificent part of Australia.

  “Fabulous West Coast adventure”
Trip:    Trip Date: 27/06/2017    Overall Rating: 5/5
Overall - I am sooo glad I finally booked this trip - it was extremely enjoyable and well organised.

I wish to highly commend our tour director Delma Coulson for her combination of friendliness, professionalism, knowledge, fun, helpfulness and care. I was one of the younger travelers and one of the few still working (at 66yrs!) There was a mix of couples and singles and most of the time we all got on just fine - and there are at least a couple of people I will keep in touch with.

Although it would make the trip longer - it would have been great to spend a bit longer at some of the stops - e.g. Karajini I would have loved to be able to do some walks. Would have loved if a bit more indigenous experience was woven in somehow - but enjoyed what there was. Would have liked an extra night in Perth so we could spend more time in Kings Park and Yanchep.

The accommodation overall was great - small issues in a couple of places (Darwin Mantra - kettle hidden at the back of a bottom shelf in a cupboard (??) and a hand-held shower in the bath which collapsed when I tried to use it. If you have a group of of almost all senior travelers this is not OK - and I pointed this out to the hotel). Karajini, El Questro, Monkey Mia, Cable Beach and Ningaloo especially were fabulous. All beds were OK despite me having a bad back, and most places had free Wifi.

For me the least enjoyable activities were the visit to Carnarvon Space Museum - I found it very ho-hum, and the visit to Tom Price. Highlights were many - but especially had a fabulous day on a catamaran from Monkey Mia looking for dugongs etc; Had an amazing day swimming with whale-sharks (and one swam right under me!!). A very hot but wonderful day flying and walking into the bungle bungles. Many sunsets and some sunrises - espy at Monkey Mia - this was better than the dolphin feeding as I saw dolphins, turtles, pelicans etc close to shore as the sun rose with few people around!! The afternoon/sunset cruise on the Ord river was wonderful,

Most of the meals were OK to very good, but was disappointed in the dinner at the Sandalwood factory, and in the Farewell dinner in Darwin. I fell in love with Boab trees, snappy gums and salmon gums, enjoyed the geckos in my tent at El Questro, but was a tiny bit disappointed not to see or hear a dingo at Karijini - although I awoke to the most wonderful bird chorus. The photograph is one of my favourites - at sunrise at Monkey Mia - I love the dog on the small boat!!

Thank you for all your help in organising this trip - I had a wonderful time !!!

Trip:    Trip Date: 13/06/2017    Overall Rating: 4/5
It was great trip that allowed us to visit so many of the iconic locations through Australia's "Red Centre". The tour director was passionate about the many places we saw and shared his wealth of knowledge. We also were lucky to have a great driver. Our travelling companions were also great.

  “Tassy West Coast”
Trip:    Trip Date: 05/04/2017    Overall Rating: 4/5
Hobart to Launceston on the AAT King coach. The organisation on the coach was great as this was our first time on this type of holiday. Especially like the rotating seat allocation. The west coast of Tassy was well worth a visit, especially the Gordon River cruise. Accommodation varied but clean and comfortable. The communication about arrangements and times was excellent. The tour broke up the day into achievable sitting and leaving the coach for sights etc except for a couple of 2 - 2.5 hour journeys that were a bit long at times.

“High Recommendation on Tasmanian Wonders Tour”
Trip:    Trip Date: 05/04/2017    Overall Rating: 5/5
It's been a great experience with AAT Kings and Global Journeys in my 10 days Tasmanian Wonders Tour, Everything is well-organized and full of surprises. I didn't expect that we would have a few hours city tour in Hobart on the first day of arrival, which gave me some idea of the city. Our tour guide Gordon Prescott and coach driver Darren are very experienced. It's such a wonderful vacation with great people and stunning landscape. I highly recommend this tour to whoever wants to explore Tasmania for the first time!

  “Kakadu & Litchfield”
Trip:    Trip Date: 23/03/2017    Overall Rating: 3/5
Loved the boat trip through the wetlands and also seeing the crocodiles (but they were not actually in Kakadu). The accommodation in Kakadu at the Crocodile hotel was average and the food expensive. $5 for a cup of coffee was outrageous. The flight trip over Kakadu was wonderful - but this was an add on. The tour guides were OK. But disappointed in some lack of knowledge. e.g. we were led to believe that Aborigines still live in Kakadu and when asked how come we didn't see any - nor any evidence as we flew over - we were told that they were there and could see us but obviously were hiding. This is untrue, as they tend to live in Arnhem Land. The Litchfield tour guide was very good - a much more intelligent commentary than in Kakadu. Loved the Litchfield waterfalls.

Our fully air-conditioned coaches are equipped with modern features like reclining seats with seat belts and footrests, panoramic windows, an on-board restroom, and state-of-the-art technology including DVD player, GPS and PA systems. All AAT Kings itineraries include scheduled and regular rest breaks. Most of our coaches are also equipped with phone chargers and free WiFi to keep you in touch with the outside world.

What does it mean if I book on a non Guaranteed Departure?

AAT Kings have designated certain departures as Guaranteed Departures, which means they have reached minimum passenger numbers and will definitely run as scheduled. Global Journeys continue to add Guaranteed Departure status to tours online as they achieve minimum numbers. If you book on a non Guaranteed Departure AAT Kings will determine if the tour will operate no later than 6 weeks prior to departure. If the tour is withdrawn we will work to offer you a suitable alternative. If you aren't happy with the options offered any money paid on your booking will be refunded.

What documentation will I receive?

This depends on the touring style you are booking. Short Break bookings will receive e-documentation. If you are booking an AAT Kings guided holiday (First Choice, Best Buys or Inspiring Journey) you will receive a travel wallet and luggage tag. Plus, we'll give you a map of Australia or New Zealand to follow your journey as a memento of your holiday.

When will I receive my travel documents?

Travel documents for AAT Kings guided tours are delivered to the hotel or address you are staying at prior to your tour depending on the tour type chosen. We also provide you with a tour itinerary and arrival instructions by email, once we have all your flight information and personal details.

Who can I expect to travel with on an AAT Kings tour?

With such a diverse range of destinations and touring styles there is no set age or type who travel with AAT, you can expect a wide-range of like-minded travellers. Families with children, young couples, baby boomers, solo travellers, small groups and more can be found on our guided tours. There is certainly no age limit for touring, with children as young as 6 through to seniors travelling, however, the general demographic tends to be over 40. As AAT Kings is sold internationally you will also find that there are people from all over the world on their tours, particularly North Americans, British, Europeans and many Asian nations.

How many other people will I be travelling with?

Depending on the tour you choose and the time of year you are travelling our group sizes can vary from 20 people up to 49 people, so there is a great opportunity to mingle and make new friends.

Is there a luggage allowance?

Due to limited coach capacity, a single bag is allowed with dimensions not exceeding 30" x 18" x 10" (76 x 46 x 25cm) and weight not exceeding 23kg (50lbs). Carry on hand luggage is restricted to one piece per person, not exceeding 12" x 11" x 6" (30 x 28 x 14cm) to fit under your coach seat or in the small overhead compartment. If you have any concerns with regards to your luggage allowance please contact your Global Journeys consultant.

Do I need to tip my Tour Director, Driver or Driver guide?

While it's not compulsory in Australia or New Zealand, tipping is becoming an increasingly accepted practice in all areas of the service industry, but particularly in restaurants, bars and taxis. Likewise on your AAT Kings tour, if you feel that your Tour Director, Driver or Driver Guide has done an excellent job, then we would recommend tipping up to the equivalent of $5 per day. However, it's not compulsory. It is up to you!

What options do I have if I am travelling alone?

The beauty of travelling with AAT Kings is that you won't be travelling alone. You'll have a group of like-minded travellers and soon to be friends to share in the experience with. They also offer a room matching service on all guided tours (not applicable on Short Breaks) so you don't have to pay a single room supplement. AAT Kings room matching service means they will work to match you with another solo traveller of the same gender, but if they can't, they will provide a single room at no extra cost.

Can I travel with children on your guided coach tours?

Yes, they can accommodate children, however they must be over 6 years of age. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. AAT Kings do recommend that people travelling with children consider whether the itinerary is suitable, in particular the activities involved and the duration of the tour to ensure children's comfort.

Why is my contact information collected when I book?

There may be times when unforeseen events beyond our control impacttravel schedules and potentially disrupt cruises, tours, or packages. These include, but are not limited to, severe weather conditions, acts of nature, and government travel advisories. Under such circumstances, it is critical that AAT Kings be able to contact you immediately and reliably - including nights, weekends, and holidays - to make sure we've informed you of any possible changes to your travel.
