2012 BRW Fast Starter - Global Journeys

Global Journeys are happy to announce their inclusion as a 2012 BRW Fast Starter. An exclusive list of the Top 100 fastest growing start-up companies in Australia determined by the Australian Financial Review.

"Companies and entrepreneurs on this year’s BRW Fast Starters list have not only proved their resilience and willpower during challenging times, they have increased their revenue and continue to grow and outperform their competitors." Source_ Financial Review
“People increasingly book low-cost travel items, such as domestic plane fares or hotel accommodation, online these days,” Campbell Harris (Managing Director) says. “But with costlier overseas tours, they have traditionally sought advice from travel agents on the high street before making a decision. More people are recognising they can just as easily and reliably research and arrange that tour online.”

Here at Global Journeys we believe our online travel services offer better prices, quality control and flexibility. When you see a travel agent for the first time, you hope they know what they are talking about and understand the product. And you can usually only deal with them in business hours. What we are trying to do is combine the convenience of online booking with a much higher service offering when customers want it. A lot of customers are surprised when they get better service online than face to face.”

For start-up businesses to have qualified, they must:

  • Have commenced trading after June 30, 2006
  • Have reported at least two fiscal years of revenue
  • Reported revenue of more than $500,000 in 2010-11
  • Revenue for 2010-11 must have been higher than 2009-10
  • Have 200 or fewer full-time employees
  • Have more than one main customer
  • The bulk of revenue cannot come from government grants or other start-up funding
  • Business must be Australian-owned, not a subsidiary of a foreign-owned multinational
  • Private companies must have revenue figures verified by an external accountant or auditor
