Around the 16th Century, Skala was one of the most important commercial ports in the Mediterranean, where trading of pirated goods took place. Lindos was a famous city in the ancient world, and participated in the Trojan War. The last surviving ancient city that was mentioned by Homer and Herodotus, Lindos is impeccably preserved. The timeless Acropolis is perched atop the steep rock peak, and overlooks the whitewashed town of winding alleyways that spills over the mountain slope.
