Itinerary

Affectionately known as Beantown, this revolutionary city is one of the oldest in the United States.  After settling in, perhaps take a stroll to Downtown Crossing or historic Faneuil Hall. For those looking to shop, Quincy Market offers big brands and local products, set indoors and surrounding the columns of a regal 19th century building. At 18:00, join your Travel Director for a Welcome Dinner with wine and an opportunity to mingle with fellow guests at your hotel. (DW) Stay: Hyatt Regency Boston

Today you'll discover some of Boston's most famous sights as you delve into the city's transformative past. You'll follow part of the red-brick Freedom Trail that brings the story of the American Revolution to life. Sights include Beacon Hill, Newbury Street, Faneuil Hall Marketplace and the Old South Meeting House.

This afternoon, explore Stockbridge with an Insight Choice. Choose to visit the Norman Rockwell Museum, home to the largest and most significant collection of original Rockwell art. Alternatively, choose to take a guided tour of Chesterwood, the former summer home and studio of renowned 20th century sculptor Daniel Chester French. Travel on through the rolling hills of the Berkshires and onto your upstate New York hotel, situated within the Saratoga Spa State Park. (B/DW) Stay: The Gideon Putnam, Saratoga Springs

Journey through the bronze fall foliage of Vermont. Visit the Vermont Country Store for a unique shopping experience - you'll step back into history with their nostalgic assortment of products. Explore the Rockefellers' renowned Billings Farm and Museum, a captivating working dairy and farm life museum, followed by a stop in the quintessential Vermont village of Woodstock with its picturesque, covered bridge.

End your day in the northern Vermont town of Stowe, home to the breathtaking alpine setting that attracted the real Von Trapp family of "The Sound of Music." Enjoy Austrian-style lagers during your Highlight Dinner at Bierhall Restaurant. (B/DW) Stay: Trapp Family Lodge, Stowe

Enjoy Vermont's beautiful scenery ablaze with fall's golden red colors. Stop by Lake Champlain Chocolates for a taste of their award-winning ice cream. Like their chocolates, their ice cream is crafted with only the best local ingredients — including fresh cream, maple syrup, and honey. Next, you'll travel to Morse Farm Maple Sugarworks, where maple syrup is "tapped" from the trees.

Taste a Vermont tradition, the unusually named ‘sugar on snow', a combination of maple syrup and packed snow. This tasty treat is traditionally served with a doughnut and pickle. Return to the enchanting town of Stowe where the rest of the day is yours. From wandering its quaint streets to hiking in the woods or relaxing back at your lodge, make the most of your last evening at this mountain resort. (B)

Later, journey through the dazzling crimson and orange hues of the famed Kancamagus Scenic Byway to North Conway. This spectacular section of Route 112 is unspoiled by industry and boasts 34.5 miles of untouched natural beauty. (B/DW) Stay: North Conway Grand Hotel, North Conway

In the morning, join a MAKE TRAVEL MATTER® Experience as you enjoy an insightful talk by a naturalist expert on the North Woods' wildlife and ecology. Then, more spectacular fall foliage awaits as you journey through Crawford Notch, an arresting pass through the White Mountains.

Greatly enjoyed the trip and the people we met 2 , WA, Australia, Oct 2015
Sometimes too long spent on lunchtime stops in small towns. Tour guide improved as trip went along, minimal information eg Boston history at first but this improved as we went along. Weather was fantastic so we were very lucky. Greatly enjoyed the trip and the people we met.
Tour inclusions were excellent 1 , NSW, Australia, Sep 2015
Loved the tour but unfortunately leaves were late turning this season. The countryside was still beautiful but if you really want to see the fall foliage I would not book until October. The Insight tour itself was great, we were extremely well looked after and everything was very professional. We were very happy with the accommodations except we probably ...read more arrived too early at most with not much to do as most properties were out of town. The tour inclusions were excellent, did not have to put our hand in our pocket most days. The whole experience including the booking process with Global Journeys was professional and exceeded expectations.
Very enjoyable and comfortable from start to end 3 , NSW, Australia, Sep 2015
Thoroughly enjoyable. Jacki Lappen is an excellent tour director... professional, knowledgeable, entertaining and caring. The tour group was amiable (probably took their cue from Jacki) and that made the trip very enjoyable and comfortable from start to end. Autumn was late this year and we did not get to see its full spectacular blaze of glorious ...read more colours, but the tour group did not seem to mind, and had great fun anyway spotting random bursts of autumnal colours. Dennis, our driver, deserves a mention for his great driving skills and caring customer service.
Planning was executed in a most efficient manner 0 , Australia, Sep 2014
The trip was conducted by an experienced tour guide who made every effort to ensure that everything worked perfectly. Forward planning was executed in a most efficient manner. We were fortunate that the Fall colours developed strongly during the latter half of the journey. Special mention must be made of the coach driver 'Randy' who drove with safely ...read more as his prime concern. He was always first off the coach at each stop and was there to assist all passengers to alight. Accommodation was of a high standard. While we would have preferred to eat fruit for the 'on-your-own' lunches it was obligatory to use restaurants in those towns where there was no public toilet facilities. In a group of 40 participants we ended the short tour not meeting some of the other passengers. I would recommend that the daily seating plan should be varied so you are not sitting with the same group for the whole journey.
North East USA Fall tour. 0 , NSW, Australia, Sep 2013
Great tour will enjoy doing it again in the future. Trouble free travel on a modern coach with huge windows for viewing. Wifi onboard available, comfortable seating and excellent leg space. Guides were friendly and informative as well as active in creating a positive environment while on the coach or walking tours.
Would have liked more exposure to environment 3 , Australia, Oct 2010
Tour was very well organised and accommodations mostly were of a high standard. I would have preferred to have fewer included activities (eg dinners) and more exposure to the natural environment than was included. When we arrived back in Boston after the tour ended, myself and a number of others who were not flying out of Boston directly or not staying ...read more at Omni Parker House, were left to make our own way to our alternate accommodation in spite of the fact that the tour ended more than 2 hours earlier that was expected. I did not find this level of service acceptable given the relative high cost of the tour.
