Arrive Christchurch

Welcome to New Zealand! A Kirra Tours representative will greet you at the airport with transport waiting to take you to your hotel. Stay: Rendezvous Hotel

Christchurch - Mt Cook - Omarama

A brief tour of Christchurch and its surrounds before travelling across the Canterbury Plains into MacKenzie Country. View the Church of the Good Shepherd and the Collie Dog statue at Lake Tekapo before continuing to Mt Cook National Park. Admire the majesty of Mt Cook before travelling on to Omarama. Optional ski-plane and helicopter flights are available subject to weather conditions (own expense). Stay: Heritage Gateway Hotel (B/D)

Omarama - Dunedin

Pass large hydro lakes as you travel down the Waitaki Valley to Oamaru and Dunedin, the "Scottish" city. Enjoy a brief city orientation tour on arrival. The afternoon is free for you to experience some of the many optional sightseeing activities available. We recommend you visit the Octagon in the city centre, or take a tour of the famous Speight's Brewery. Stay: Scenic Dunedin City Hotel (B/D)

Dunedin - Te Anau

This morning visit Larnach Castle, New Zealand's only castle, with spectacular views across the Otago Peninsula. On your guided tour, learn about its tragic and mysterious history. Then it is back to the present as you travel south west over rich fertile farmlands, through the agricultural service towns of Balclutha, Gore, and other small villages. As you proceed inland past wind turbines and deer farms and across rural farmland before reaching Lake Te Anau, the Gateway to Fiordland National Park. Stay: Distinction Luxmore Hotel (B/D)

Te Anau - Milford Sound - Queenstown

Leaving Te Anau, your coach will travel on one of the highest and most scenic state highways in New Zealand through Fiordland National Park, following the Eglington and Hollyford Valleys. Pass through the Homer Tunnel before descending into the Cleddau Canyon and magnificent Milford Sound. Experience Milford Sound, the eighth wonder of the world, from the water as a launch cruise takes you to the Tasman Sea returning via the raging Bowen Falls and Stirling Falls. A truly exhilarating experience.

Return through Te Anau to Kingston before hugging the shores of Lake Wakatipu to reach New Zealand's adventure capital, Queenstown. This evening's dinner is up the Skyline Gondola where you dine atop Bob's Peak overlooking Queenstown. Enjoy 220 degree breathtaking panoramic views of The Remarkables mountain range and across Lake Wakatipu to Cecil and Walter Peaks. Stay: Copthorne Lakefront Hotel & Resort (2 nights) (B/D)

Queenstown at leisure

A day to explore the many delights of this stunning alpine resort. Take a ride on the world famous Shotover Jet Boat, cruise Lake Wakatipu on the vintage steamship TSS Earnslaw or for the adventurous, try white water rafting. Alternatively, browse in the many shops and galleries - your coach captain will be more than happy to assist with any optional sightseeing. (B)

Queenstown - Haast Pass - Franz Josef

Pass picturesque Lake Hayes on the way to Arrowtown, an area steeped in fascinating history relating to early settlement during the gold mining era. Stop at Lake Wanaka, a picture postcard resort on the lakes edge with a spectacular mountain backdrop. Cross the Haast Pass and view the untouched wilderness and pristine lakes of the Mt Aspiring and Westland National Parks before arriving on to the glorious Glacier region, home to the twin glaciers of Fox and Franz Josef. Stay: Scenic Hotel Franz Josef Glacier (B/D)

Franz Josef- Greymouth - Christchurch

At Hokitika, stop to visit a Pounamu, (also known as Greenstone or Jade) factory. At Greymouth, board the famous TranzAlpine Train. Renowned as one of the most scenic train journeys in the world, this coast to coast rail adventure will take you through the Southern Alps, over massive viaducts, river valleys and gorges as you make your way to Christchurch. Stay: Rendezvous Hotel (B/D)

Depart Christchurch

Today is goodbye to all your new found friends before you make your homeward journey. You will be transferred to Christchurch Airport to join your flight home. (B)
