Originally had booked this trip for last year but due to medical reasons, had to rebook. Jemma was most helpful on both occasions and I highly recommend her and Global Journeys for future bookings. This was my fourth Insight tour and although I was worried that the lavender and sunflowers wouldn't be in full bloom, it was lovely to see fields of poppies and the start of the lavender.

Sometimes I felt that this was more of a foodie and wine tour, and free afternoons weren't really that free by the time you finally got into your hotel room and received your luggage, especially if you had optionals booked. As a solo traveller sharing a room with a stranger, often the hotels hadn't been accommodated for, and a lot of time was spent rearranging the beds, which was faster than waiting for housekeeping. All in all, it was lovely to see many places in a short time and this wouldn't have been possible travelling by car on your own.

Tour well planned with a mix of medieval architecture, french art, and wine and oil tastings. Each event was an enjoyable experience. There was enough time to explore most towns we visited and easy access to meals. Some of these free time meals were highlights of our time in France. Perhaps our most memorable experience was the Lascaux Caves near Perigeuex in the south west.

I could go on with the sites but just let it be said there's no reason to be bored on this trip. Our only grievance was the optional tour dinners. There is a sense of us being a bus load, (which we were) and needing to feed us basic food and move us along. As they are expensive, I would give them short shrift. Tour leader Fred was the best with great sense of humour, wide knowledge base and lovely caring patient personality. Would recommend this tour.

Country Roads of France was my 3rd Insight Vacations tour and the most enjoyable. The accommodation was always centrally located and the best available, our tour director Mark was brilliant, articulate, intelligent and highly professional, our driver Gerard was also superb. This culture tour included wineries with 12th Century cellars, Van Gough's sunflower fields, Monet's garden (optional excursion) and Toulouse Lautrec's birth town and museum. For those who love French culture and history this is a sensational way to enjoy it. Just sit back, be taken care of and indulge yourself in the adorable French countryside.

A great experience from booking to the end of the tour!! Georgie from Global Journeys was very helpful when I had to change the tour date last minute - thanks again. Then the tour: A wonderful way to experience France: it’s varied landscapes, history, culture and food. Laurent Millet, our tour guide was outstanding , he has a great sense of humour, knowledge of history, politics and his explanations of ‘French attitude’ was always very entertaining. He spoilt us with special treats of macaroons, even a delicious wine after one outing. Almost all hotels were excellent and breakfast was always delicious. Tex our driver did a marvellous job navigating narrow and dangerous roads in a big bus, always staying calm. I can recommend Country Roads of France to anyone who would like to experience France without having the stress of driving oneself and finding good hotels.

This tour was the best! I enjoyed the lovely countryside of France in spring with our wonderful guide, Laura, who kept us all happy and smiling! The hotels were all good with some that were truly special. Optional tours were generally good value and if you just felt like relaxing you could stay near the hotel and do your own thing. Booking with Yvonne from Global Journeys was easy using the online system. Yvonne always got back to me right away if I had any questions and I would certainly book any future trips with her as she was very helpful.
