Welcome to Vietnam's capital city, an attractive, laid back city with charming French-Colonial style buildings, spacious boulevards and cheerful bustling markets. Upon arrival in Hanoi you will be transferred to your hotel where you will be met by our local representative.

Enjoy a full day of sightseeing taking in the TEMPLE OF LITERATURE, a peaceful series of walled courtyards, HO CHI MINH MAUSOLEUM, HO CHI MINH STILT HOUSE and ONE PILLAR PAGODA, designed to resemble a lotus blossom, a Buddhist symbol of purity. Later see Hoan Kiem Lake, the HISTORY MUSEUM and the fascinating network of alleyways and shop-houses which make up the Old Quarter. (B/L/D)

Hanoi

Journey through the tranquil countryside to CHUA THAY PAGODA, home to an ancient stage where it is believed the first water puppet show was performed. Later, admire the carved wooden roof and unique architectural shape of TAY PHUONG, one of Vietnam's first pagodas. Return to Hanoi for a WATER PUPPET SHOW. (B/L)

Hanoi - Halong Bay

Drive to Halong Bay, one of Vietnam's favourite destinations, and board your CRUISE BOAT for a leisurely journey through the dramatic limestone islands of the bay. Lunch is served while you cruise past islets, caves, beaches and floating villages. This afternoon you may wish to enjoy sunset on the top of Titov Mountain or take a bamboo row boat to discover a water tunnel, scenic lagoon and coral reef. Anchor in a secluded lagoon for your overnight, onboard stay. (B/L/D)

Halong Bay - Hanoi - Danang - Hoi An

Before breakfast, you may have the opportunity to view sunrise over the bay. Continue cruising through Halong Bay to Bai Tho Mountain in the beautiful Bai Tu Long Bay before returning to the dock for disembarkation. Later, fly to Danang and travel to the traditional but vibrant town of Hoi An. (B/L/D)

Start today with a CRUISE on the Thu Bon River, passing unspoiled countryside on the way to a pottery village and a wood carving village. Journey back to Danang and visit the CHAM MUSEUM. Continue through the spectacular Hai Van Pass (weather permitting), to the imperial walled city of Hue. Here your sightseeing tour takes in the FORBIDDEN PURPLE CITY, modelled on Beijing's famed Forbidden City and includes visits to NGO MON GATE, THAI HOA PALACE, the HALLS OF THE MANDARINS and the NINE DYNASTIC URNS. Begin today with a boat trip on the Perfume River to the pretty THIEN MU PAGODA, made up of seven tiers. Today, visit the CU CHI region, an important base during the Vietnamese War. Learn about the impressive underground network of tunnels constructed by the Viet Cong to connect command posts, hospitals, shelters and weapon factories. See secret trapdoors, underground kitchens, living areas and meeting rooms. If you are feeling adventurous, you may enter and explore the deep, narrow tunnels. (B)

Ho Chi Minh - Can Tho

Journey south to Cai Be, known for its large, floating markets, and board a motorised SAMPAN for an introduction to life on the Mekong River. Continue across the upper reaches of the river to a maze of tributaries and fruit plantations before ending at Vinh Long. Later, travel to the Mekong Delta's economic hub city of Can Tho. (B/L/D)

This morning enjoy a CRUISE to Cai Rang, a bustling market town where you will enjoy a SAMPAN ride through the colourful congestion of women and children jostling for space and vying to sell their wares.
