Is this tour right for you?

  • This trip requires a good level of fitness, in particular for the 2 half day soft trekking experiences in Mulu National Park. On the first trek you will be required to walk unaided a total of 6km to/from the caves. You will spend approximately one hour inside the caves on uneven surfaces and steps. The second trek requires you to climb around 200 steps on the way to Clearwater Cave. This tour will suit anyone with a good level of fitness. If you require any assistance in walking long distances then this tour may not be suitable for you.
  • During the tour you will be required to hop in and out of long boats. While guides will be assisting you it is important you are able to do this unaided.
  • One of the highlights of this tour is staying in remote areas of Borneo in order to witness amazing wildlife and rainforest surrounds such as the Kinabatangan River. The cuisine in these regions is considered local and basic with limited options.
  • Brunei is a strict Muslim country and during your stay you will not be able to drink alcohol without a special permit. Even with the special permit strict guidelines apply to where you can consume the alcohol. It will also be important to declare any alcohol you may be carrying as you enter the country.

  • Accommodation, itinerary and inclusions subject to change.

Booking With Global Journeys
There were only 5 of us travelling from Kuching and finishing in Kota Kinabalu. We were all very experienced travellers who got on well for the 17 days. We had local guides who were impressed by our questions and curiosity about Sarawak and Sabah. We all felt that the people of Malaysian Borneo were friendly and happy.

The people of Brunei were the same and the mosques we visited in Bandar Seri Begawan were most impressive.
I would liked to have tasted more variety in the food especially in the river resorts. Seeing the orangutans and sun bears was interesting and the river cruises enabled us to see the animals in the wild.

We visited the war memorials set up in memory of the soldiers who died in the Sandakan death marches at the end of WW2. This will be a lasting memory. It was a truly interesting holiday, one which we all enjoyed immensely.
