Discover Shofuku-ji, the oldest Zen Temple in Japan, and the sixth century Kushida Shrine. Visit the Hakata Machiya Folk Museum and see the prestigious Hakata-ori woven textile being made. Enjoy your afternoon at leisure. (B/L/D)
3 Fukuoka - Nagasaki
Drive through the countryside to Nagasaki, stopping at the Yoshinogari Ruins and the pottery village of Arita en-route. In Nagasaki relax at your hotel for a two night stay. (B/L/D)
4 Nagasaki
Over time, Nagasaki’s growth has been shaped by many diverse foreign powers. Freechoice: Explore the footprint of Christianity left by European powers. Alternatively, visit Peace Park and the Atomic Bomb Museum and reflect on its tragic and modern notoriety.   Later, venture by cable car to the top of Mt Inasa and take in the sweeping vista of the city. 5 Nagasaki - Hiroshima
Travel by Shinkansen train to Hiroshima. Enrich: Experience an emotional visit to the Peace Park and Museum before visiting Orizuru Tower to create your own special origami donation. You’ll enjoy two nights at Hiroshima. (B/L)
6 Hiroshima - Miyajima Island
See industrial robots at work at the Mazda factory. Later, take the ferry to Miyajima Island to visit Daisho-in Temple and the floating sixth century Torii Gate at the Itsukushima Shrine. Tonight, sample Okonomiyaki, a delicious savoury Japanese-style pancake and speciality of the region. (B/L/D)
7 Hiroshima - Kyoto
Travel by Shinkansen to marvel at Himeji Castle, Japan’s most spectacular castle, before continuing to Kyoto, home to many World Heritage-listed Sites. Begin a memorable three night stay at your hotel in Kyoto. (B/L/D)
8 Kyoto
Freechoice: Revel in the atmosphere of the ancient preservation districts or visit the Silver Pavilion and then stroll along the Philosopher’s Walk. Alternatively, visit the Fushimi Inari Shrine, featured in the movie Memoirs of a Geisha and marvel at the architecture of the Nijo Castle. Enjoy time this afternoon for some shopping or relaxation. Enrich: After strolling through the Gion District, tonight’s dinner will allow you to interact with a Maiko who’ll host your meal presentation. It’s an excellent opportunity to learn about what is involved in becoming a Geisha and the art of Japanese hospitality. (B/D)
9 Kyoto - Nara
Enjoy an excursion to Nara to visit Todaiji Temple and Nara Park. On the way back, stop for some sake tasting at a sake museum. Freechoice Dining: Choose between Japanese cuisine at Shinensen Heihachi, or international cuisine at the historic Fortune Garden. 10 Kyoto - Tokyo
Visit the Kinkaku-ji or Golden Pavilion and wander the classical Zen Garden at Ryoanji Temple. Visit the Asakusa district, paying your respects at Sensoji, the city’s oldest Buddhist temple.
