At 17:00, join your Travelling Concierge and fellow guests for an evening visit to the bustling Thamel region by rickshaw. Enjoy a Welcome Reception with delicious meal at a local restaurant. (WD) Stay Two Nights: Dwarika's Hotel, Kathmandu

Kathmandu Sightseeing

(Relaxed Start) The beating heart of Kathmandu is Durbar Square and ancient Royal Palace complex, laced with myriad temples, courtyards, statues and home of the 'Living Goddess'. Visit the holy shrine of Swayambhunath then head on to Patan's temple of Teleju, Statue of Yogendra Malla and Tibetan Handicraft Centre. (BB/L)

Kathmandu - Paro - Thimphu

Transfer to the airport for your flight over the Himalayas. You are welcomed on arrival in Paro and transferred to Thimphu, the modern capital of Bhutan. In the evening, join your Travelling Concierge for a walk through the centre of town to experience your first taste of Bhutan life up-close. (BB) Stay Two Nights: Taj Tashi, Thimphu

(Relaxed Start) Head to Thimphu, the centre of government, religion and commerce for this small mountain kingdom. Home to civil servants and the monk body, Thimphu is an eclectic mix of tradition and modernity. Visit the National Library to see a vast collection of ancient Buddhist texts and manuscripts, the Textile and Folk Heritage Museum and the Institute for Zorig Chusum - the School for the Arts - to see students learning the 13 traditional arts of Bhutan. Visit the National Memorial Chorten, a monument to world peace, and Tashichhodzong, the 'fortress of the glorious religion'. Later, visit the bustling weekend market, full of photo opportunities and the chance to mingle with locals. In the evening, you join a local family to share a home-cooked meal. (BB/HD)

Punakha Sightseeing

Visit Punakha Dzong, the capital of Bhutan until 1955, and still the winter residence of the monk body. (BB) Stay Two Nights: Dhensa Boutique Resort, Punakha

Punakha Sightseeing

In the morning, enjoy a walk to Chimi Lhakhang, a sacred destination for Buddhists. The temple was built in the 15th century by Lama Drukpa Kunley, who travelled throughout Bhutan and Tibet using outrageous antics to provoke people to discard their preconceptions. The views from the temple are spectacular and are worth the walk! The afternoon is at leisure. (BB/RD)

Punakha To Paro

(Relaxed Start) In the morning, head to Paro for a tour of Ta Dzong, built to defend Rinpung Dzong during the 17th century and now serving as Bhutan's National Museum. Later, walk down a hillside trail to see Rinpung Dzong, 'fortress of the heap of jewels'. Also visit Kyichu Lakhang, one of the oldest and most sacred shrines in the kingdom, and Drukgyel Dzong, built to commemorate the 1646 victory over the Tibetan invaders. (BB/AT) Stay Two Nights: Zhiwa Ling, Paro

Paro And Tiger's Nest Hike

(Relaxed Start) Embark on a leisurely hike to Tiger's Nest. In the evening, join a local chef for a cooking demonstration of how local Bhutanese delicacies are prepared. Kathmandu Sightseeing

After an early morning flight to Kathmandu, spend the day sightseeing in this fantastic capital. See one of the holiest Hindu shrines, Pashupatinath Temple, on the banks of the Bagmati. Visit Bodhnath, a colossal stupa, and Nepal's most important Buddhist site. Continue on to visit the ancient capital of Bhadgaon.
