Today arrive into Delhi, India's bustling capital. This evening, choose from a range of dining options. Stay Two Nights: Delhi, Imperial Hotel (D)

After breakfast, a tour of Old Delhi begins at the highly decorative Jama Masjid, India's largest mosque. Later, explore the labyrinth of tiny lanes of Shahjahanabad in a cycle-rickshaw. Later drive past Rashtrapati Bhawan, the official residence of the President of India, and visit India Gate - a 42 metre-high archway in the centre of Delhi. Afterwards, visit the home of a local family to enjoy a cooking demonstration followed by lunch. After lunch, drive to the iconic Humayun's Tomb, one of the most experimental and innovative monuments of its time. Tonight, dine at Bukhara Restaurant. (B/L/D)

Delhi, Agra, Taj Mahal

Today you'll travel to the north Indian state of Uttar Pradesh to reach Agra, home of the Taj Mahal. On arrival, enjoy a tour of Agra's Red Fort, a powerful fortress of red sandstone that overlooks the lovely gardens of the Taj Mahal. Afterwards, retire to your five-star hotel and unwind in the cool quiet of the afternoon. Later, experience the stunning Taj Mahal bathed in the golden glow of sunset. Built for the Mughal ruler Shah Jahan's wife, watch as the massive domes and intricately carved white marble shimmer in the sunset. This evening, enjoy a range of dining options for dinner. Stay: Agra, The Oberoi Amarvilas (B/L/D)

Agra, Ranthambore

Wake early this morning and enjoy a sunrise visit to the Taj Mahal. Admire the stunning colours of the domes as the sun rises then, after breakfast, travel to Ranthambore. The largest national park in northern India, Ranthambore's wildlife sanctuary is known as the best place in India to see animals such as Leopards, Hyenas and the Indian Wild Boar. On route, stop to enjoy lunch at Laxmi Vilas Palace before reaching your beautiful hotel, set amid eight hectares of lush green gardens. Stay Two Nights: Ranthambore, The Oberoi Vanyavilas (B/L/D)

Today, experience exotic flora and fauna in the most supreme and unique style, on board a magnificent Canter Safari. A rewarding experience for all wildlife enthusiasts, Ranthambore's pride is in the population of tigers prowling in their own natural habitat. The vast grasslands, forested areas and ruins provide many opportunities for wildlife encounters from a open topped vehicle, in particular the magnificent Royal Bengal Tiger. This evening, enjoy dinner at your hotel. (B/L/D)

Ranthambore, Jaipur

Today, you may choose to visit the Ranthambore Museum, rich with history of wildlife across India, or a tour of Ranthambore Fort, surrounded by ruins, temples and palaces. After your chosen activity, be transferred to Jaipur to enjoy time at leisure. Later, choose from two dining options. Stay Three Nights: Fairmont Jaipur (B/L/D)

Today head to Amber Fort, a towering fortress overlooking the city. Built from pale yellow and pink sandstone, as well as white marble, the fort is more like a palace and is divided into four main sections, each with its own courtyard. After time to explore, head to Sankotra Haveli for lunch before free time this afternoon. (B/L/D)

Today, you may choose to take an invigorating walk up to Jaigarh Fort for spectacular views over Jaipur. Alternatively, visit the City Palace, a vast palace complex, as well as Jantar Mantar, which is home to a collection of architectural astronomical instruments. After your chosen activity, enjoy time at leisure. Later this evening, enjoy a grand gala dinner, with traditional folk dance and music, at Dera Amer, located behind the hills of the famous Amber Fort. (B/L/D)

Jaipur, Kolkata, Embark Lower Ganges River Cruise

Kolkata, Bandel

This morning, experience the rich culture and fascinating colonial influence of Kolkata on a city tour. See a number of the city's 19th-century heritage buildings, the bustling Dalhousie Square, and St John's Church. Then, head to the Victoria Memorial, established to serve as a tribute to the success of the British Empire in India. Afterwards, ride aboard a private authentic tramcar. Then visit Howrah Bridge, the busiest cantilever bridge in the world, before exploring the nearby Mullik Ghat Flower Market, which provides a sensory overload of sights and smells. Later, after lunch on board, your ship will begin its journey upstream along the Lower Ganges. Cruise past a number of European colonial settlements, including Dutch, French and Danish colonies, and disembark in Bandel. Visit the 19th-century Hooghly Imambara, a pilgrimage centre in West Bengal, built by one of Bengal's most prolific philanthropists. (B/L/D)

After breakfast, disembark the RV Ganges Voyager in the town of Kalna, known as the City of Temples. On a guided cycle-rickshaw tour, you'll visit some of Bengal's most distinct terracotta temples, including the Natore Rajbari Royal Palace complex - boasting splendid gardens and a vista of round-domed temples. You'll also see the eye-catching Shiva temples, with two perfect circles, one that has 74 temples made entirely out of white marble and black stone, the other with 34 temples made of white marble alone. The site was constructed so that all individual temples can be seen when standing in the centre. Later this afternoon, you'll return to your ship and enjoy another delicious dinner on board. (B/L/D)

This morning, enjoy an excursion to the brass-working village of Matiari. Here, you'll learn how the villagers' unique methods of beating brass have been handed down for generations. You'll also enjoy the opportunity to peruse beautiful cooking instruments that have been expertly crafted from recycled copper and brass. Afterwards, return to your ship to cruise past the site of The Battle of Plassey. Learn how the British East India Company recorded a decisive victory over the Nawab of Bengal and his French allies, helping establish the company rule in Bengal and in turn, throughout much of India. (B/L/D)

Khushbagh, Murshidabad, Baranagar

Disembark in Khushbagh, and pass through local farmers' fields to the tomb of the last Nawab of Bengal. Later, as you approach Murshidabad, you'll first notice the Hazarduari Palace, which dominates the waterfront. Built in 1837, the palace boasts 1,000 doors, and houses an extensive collection of European artefacts. After a tour, you'll visit the 18th-century Katra Mosque, and learn about the Mohammedan rulers who reigned over this region for centuries. Later, disembark in Baranagar and on a walk through fields and past local temples, experience rural India at its most idyllic. Back on board, enjoy the afternoon to unwind as your ship glides along the Lower Ganges Return. On board your luxurious ship tonight, enjoy a delicious dinner. (B/L/D)

Having turned around to cruise south back down the Lower Ganges, enjoy a restful morning observing local life along the riverside. Soon, you'll disembark and visit the village of Mayapur. The birthplace of the 15th-century Hindu saint Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, who is worshipped by followers as the full incarnation of Lord Krishna, Mayapur is the home of the Krishna Consciousness Movement (ISKON). On a tour, you'll learn about the Hari Krishna community and culture, and view the construction of the nearly completed Temple of the Vedic Planetarium, just slightly smaller in size than the Great Pyramid of Giza in Egypt. (B/L/D)

This morning, cruise to the former French colony of Chandannagar. During a walk around the town, you could be forgiven for thinking that the French had never left. Stroll along the Chandannagar Strand, visit its 200 year-old church, enjoy the aroma of freshly baked baguettes at a French bakery and, at the house of former French Governor Joseph François Dupleix, discover an impressive collection of French antiques. This afternoon, continue cruising downstream to Kolkata. Tonight, enjoy a Farewell Dinner. (B/L/D)
