Amman - Dead Sea

Heading out of Amman, we make our way to Madaba and visit the Greek Orthodox Church of St George. We'll also stop at the biblical site of Mt Nebo, where Moses first saw the Promised Land. We'll then venture south to the lowest point on Earth - the Dead Sea. The salt content of the water here is four times that of most oceans, so you can float without even trying. (B/L/D)Special Experience: Take a dip in the Dead Sea and cover your body in the therapeutic mud, said to have amazing benefits for your skin.

Dead Sea - Wadi Rum

We continue south to Wadi Rum, one of the most stunning desertscapes in the world. Later we'll take a camel ride through the unique landscape carved by nature: the natural rock bridges, towering rose-coloured sand dunes and vast peaks are stunning. We'll spend the night in a typical Bedouin desert camp underneath a beautiful blanket of stars. (B/L/D)

Wadi Rum - Aqaba

An early start for an exciting jeep tour through the breathtaking landscape, guided by local Bedouin tribesmen. We'll then continue south to picturesque Aqaba on the Red Sea. Enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure in this resort town. (B/D)

Aqaba - Petra

This morning we cruise through the crystal-clear waters of the Red Sea at Aqaba Marine Park, before making our way to Petra with a stop en route to visit “Little Petra”. With a history dating back some 9,000 years, it is one of the oldest archaeological sites in the Middle East. Hidden away amidst the undulating hills, it was lost for almost 300 years until it was rediscovered in 1812. (B/L/D)Special Experience (for departures September 2017 onwards): Discover the magic of Petra by night as the rock city is lit by more than 1,000 candles. Enjoy Jordanian music and Bedouin mint tea whilst admiring the spectacular view. Note: for departures prior to September, this option can be added for a small fee.

Today we discover the famous Lost City of Petra. Carved into the sheer rock face by the Nabataeans more than 2,000 years ago, it was an important junction for the silk and spice trade routes that linked the Eastern world with that of the West. We'll enter Petra through the Siq, an 800m-long gorge flanked by soaring cliffs, before we reach the incredible Treasury, hewn into the cliff face. (B/D)

Petra - Amman

Why not return to Petra for another optional visit this morning? We'll then make our way back to Amman via Shobak Castle and the magnificent Crusader fortress of Kerak. (B/D)

Amman - Muscat

We bid farewell to Jordan and fly to the vibrant port city of Muscat, capital of the Sultanate of Oman. (B)
