Itinerary

Your Africa adventure begins as the plane touches down in red-earthed Nairobi. You'll be greeted by a transfer rep at the airport and driven to your accommodation for the night through the modern city centre in private transportation. Set your bags down at the hotel and feel the excitement build as your Trip Manager runs through the itinerary. This evening you'll have a chance to head out for some dinner at a local restaurant, a perfect time to practise your 'Jambo' (hello) and 'Asante-sana' (Thank you very much). Get to know your new mates over a hearty Kenyan meal before a big day tomorrow. Stay: Jacaranda Hotel (or similar)

We start the day with a hot breakfast at the hotel before meeting our local guides and loading up in the safari vehicles for the start of our great Masai Mara adventure. We'll pass down and through the Great Rift Valley as we arrive at our classic African safari lodge, just in time for lunch in the famous Masai Mara. After lunch, you'll have time for a quick siesta or a dip in the pool. This afternoon will include your first game drive, seeing some of Africa's vast array of wildlife both big and small on the rolling hills of this magnificent nature reserve. (B/L/D) Stay: Sentrim Mara (or similar)

This morning you have the option for a once-in-a-lifetime hot air balloon Safari experience, or join the early morning game drive - one of the best times to see the wild animals as they relax in the cooler climate before the midday heat. In the late morning we'll all head back to the lodge for some lunch and lounging around the pool, before departing on an evening game drive in search of Africa's elusive big cats: the lion, leopard and cheetah. This reserve is the scene of one of nature's most incredible and humbling events: the Great Migration. During the right season, watch with your jaw open as millions of wildebeest and zebra risk their lives crossing crocodile-infested waters with lions lurking on the banks as they bravely press forward to greener pastures. (B/L/D)

We'll treat ourselves to one last morning drive in the unforgettable Masai Mara before we head north. Make sure your camera is ready for your last glance of this extraordinary location. This afternoon we're passing through Lake Naivasha, where some scenes from the epic 1985 film Out of Africa were shot. We end up on the shores of Lake Elementaita for the evening. There'll be time for a rest and revive before we sit down together for a buffet dinner. (B/L/D) Stay: Sentrim Lake Elementaita (or similar)

Before we reach our next destination of Amboseli, our route today takes us back past Nairobi where we have the chance to get up close to some of Africa's biggest land mammals. This includes a visit to the giraffe centre, a breeding and rehabilitation centre for the endangered Rothschild giraffe, and a heartwarming trip to an elephant orphanage sanctuary, to see the amazing work being done rehabilitating baby elephants back into the wild. We'll have a picnic lunch, and the afternoon will take us to our lodge on the edge of the Amboseli National Park with dinner included. (B/L/D) Stay: Sentrim Amboseli (or similar)

After our morning's buffet breakfast, we will do a short safari walk to a Maasai village, guided by Masaai warriors as they teach us about their culture and everyday lives co-existing with wild animals. After lunch we will head out to Amboseli National Park, famous for its iconic shots of elephants and wildlife feeding in the foreground while the peak of Africa rises in the background: Mt Kilimanjaro. It's a photographer's dream, and it's all yours. Our final dinner in Kenya will be included back at the lodge. (B/L/D)

This morning we will have one final game drive in Amboseli before we head across to the Tanzanian border. We say goodbye to our Kenyan guides as we are welcomed by our Tanzanian guides and drive to the town of Arusha. Here we will visit the Shanga Community Project, offering employment opportunities to disabled community members through arts and crafts. After lunch we will head off to our first lodge and national park in Tanzania - Tarangire. Famed for its Africa's two giants; the elephant and baobab trees. (B/D) Stay: Roika Tented Camp

An early start this morning will take us back into the Tarangire National Park for a full day, in the hopes for a glimpse of some of its elusive predators and changing landscapes. We'll either stay the whole day here with a packed lunch provided, or head back to the lodge to enjoy a hot lunch and a swim in the pool. Save some room for our buffet dinner tonight. (B/L/D)

After breakfast we'll set out in our safari vehicles to our next destination: the Serengeti. We take in views of the Rift valley and the rim of Ngorogoro Crater as we make our way to the main gate of the Serengeti, stopping off to visit Mto Wa Mbu Village and a local market. We'll drive through the endless plains of this vast reserve to reach our accommodation for the night. Tonights accommodation will be a safari-style lodge in the middle of the Serengeti. A buffet meal will be served for dinner, and you're free to sit outside and listen to the sounds of nocturnal animals waking up to forage or hunt, all while sitting under the bright canopy of stars in the African sky. (B/L/D) Stay: Wildebeest Camp (or similar)

We'll spend a full day seeking out the game of Africa's plains, with predators in hot pursuit of their prey. If the wildebeest migration is around, then you are in for a wildlife treat: millions of wildebeest and zebra grazing for as far as the eye can see really is one of Africas' greatest spectacles to observe. If you want to make today even more unforgettable, you can opt in for a once-in-a-lifetime Balloon safari. A buffet dinner awaits us back at our safari camp. (B/L/D)

Enjoy some breakfast before we depart the Serengeti with a morning game drive on our way to our next destination, the Ngorogoro Crater. In the late morning we reach the Ngorogoro Crater, an ancient volcano, boasting one of the highest densities of predators stalking the abundant wildlife enclosed inside the volcano's centre. We'll stop here for a picnic lunch before we ascend the plateau. A true natural wonder, only found in Africa. (B/L/D) Stay: Eileen's Tree Inn (or similar)

Our final breakfast will be provided at the hotel before we set off. It's your last chance to do some souvenir shopping this morning, before we enjoy a final spectacular view of the Great Rift Valley on our way back to Arusha. With full hearts and memories made, it's time to say fond farewells to your new lifelong friends, and to our African adventure. (B)

Well worth the value. Every hotel was ready for us with juice and friendly staff. The game drives were all incredible. Lots of animals, we saw everything we wanted to see multiple times. Loved learning about the culture, and the language from everyone.
