Overview

Book online and enjoy exclusive savings on APT's 12 Day East Africa Safari. Explore East Africa on this unbelievable land journey. Venture through the game parks on the look out for wildlife in Serengeti National Parks and Ngorongoro Crater.

Itinerary

Arrive in Nairobi and transfer to your hotel. Meet your Tour Director and later this evening your fellow travellers, as you begin your East Africa journey. Stay: Nairobi, Villa Rosa Kempinski

Take a flight via Kilimanjaro to Lake Manyara in Tanzania and travel by 4WD vehicles to your lodge. Enjoy time at leisure before dinner. Stay Three Nights: Ngorongoro, Acacia Farm Lodge (B/L/D)

Today at the Crater, you will stop for a picnic lunch, giving you time to take in the surrounds. Often referred to as “Africa's Garden of Eden” and one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Africa, the Crater's high walls provide a natural enclosure to vast numbers of wildebeest, zebras, gazelles and lions, so make sure you have your camera ready to capture the abundant wildlife. (B/L/D)

Immerse yourself in two delightful Signature Experiences this morning. Afterwards, enjoy a traditional lunch before a game drive through Lake Manyara National Park. Return to your lodge for dinner this evening. (B/L/D)

Signature Experiences:
  • Today, you will be given the opportunity to visit a local school at the village of Mto Wa Mbu. Through our OneTomorrow Charitable Fund, APT assists Kilimatembo School with regular donations so it can continue to provide local children with the education they deserve.
  • Walk through a traditional village and learn about daily life - from how the Maasai construct their dwellings, to local bush food and medicines, and the culture of the Maasai.

Take in the spectacular, expansive views and keep an eye out for wildlife as you travel to Serengeti National Park. Stay Three Nights: Serengeti National Park, Four Seasons Serengeti (B/L/D)

Signature Experiences:
  • At Olduvai Gorge, also known as the “Cradle of Mankind”, enjoy a fascinating private tour in which you will see some of the earliest evidence of our first human ancestors who existed in the area over one million years ago.

Experience the Serengeti's wild side with a game drive at sunrise, where you'll encounter an awe-inspiring array of animals. Return to your plush lodge for some well-earned relaxation time, soaking up the stunning views and perhaps taking a refreshing dip in the infinity pool while basking in the African sun.

Later, witness the savannah come alive on a sunset game drive and watch in wonder as the animals prepare for nightfall. Finish the day in style with a delectable dinner at your luxurious lodge. (B/L/D)

A third day in the national park offers the opportunity to spot any animals that you may have missed on game drives yesterday. (B/L/D)

Board a light aircraft for your scenic flight to the Masai Mara, a vast and stunning wilderness that's home to a diverse array of wildlife and breathtaking vistas. Shortly after arriving, head off-road through the savannah on your first game drive.

Afterwards, retire to your luxurious tented retreat, replete with a large comfortable bed, Persian rugs, cosy armchairs and a private ensuite with solar-heated water. Stay Three Nights: Masai Mara, Karen Blixen Camp (B/L/D)

Wake to the enchanting sounds of the African bush as you prepare to head out on a morning game drive through the private Mara North Conservancy. Spend the early afternoon relaxing at the camp, perhaps watching resident hippos in the Mara River from your deck. Mid-afternoon is a perfect time for wildlife watching, giving you the chance to continue ticking species off your spotting list as the sun sets and the temperature cools. (B/L/D)

Explore the Masai Mara Reserve with a full-day game drive and a picnic lunch - an ideal opportunity for further wildlife viewing in the glorious African wilderness. (B/L/D)

Signature Experiences:
  • Travel a short way from your camp to a lantern lit bush kitchen where chefs will prepare a delectable dinner featuring local specialties. As you savour dinner, the entrancing noises of the bush will be heard in the background.

This morning you will say goodbye to the Masai Mara, take a flight to Nairobi and savour a final lunch at Karen Blixen Coffee Gardens. Stay: Nairobi, Villa Rosa Kempinski (B/L)

Signature Experiences:
  • At the day's end, enjoy a private performance by the Kenyan Boys Choir, with a farewell toast.

After breakfast, your journey concludes. We say goodbye before we transfer you to the airport for your onward flight. (B)
