River Cruise Description
This 25 day inspiring journey begins in Prauge and takes you through 5 Eastern block countries for 10 days of sightseeing. Then, in Budapest, embark on your 14 day river cruise to Amsterdam.
Arrive Prague
Be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel. The remainder of the day is at leisure to settle in or start exploring. This evening gather for a Welcome Reception. Stay: Prague, President Hotel (3 Nights)
Day 2
Prague Sightseeing
This morning take a walking tour of Prague’s Old Town. Visit the 1,000 year-old Hradcany Castle courtyard and St Vitus, then walk over Charles Bridge to the Old Market Square. Enjoy a Welcome Dinner this evening. (B/D)
Day 3
Prague at Leisure
With today at leisure, perhaps further explore, or join an optional tour to Kutna Hora in the Czech Republic (own expense). (B)
Day 4
Prague, Dresden, Berlin
Today travel into Germany and on to Dresden. Visit the Castle of the Electors of Saxony, including the Saxon Wall and the Semper Opera House. Then continue to Berlin. Stay: Berlin, Crowne Plaza (3 Nights) (B/D)
Day 5
Berlin Sightseeing
Today begins with a trip to the visitor platform of Fernsehturm Berlin – the city’s television tower and Europe’s fourth tallest freestanding structure. Then a guided tour takes in the Reichstag building, Brandenburg Gate, the Berlin State Opera House, Alexanderplatz and a section of the ruined Berlin Wall. (B)

Berlin at Leisure Enjoy a day at leisure today to explore the sights of Berlin at your own pace. (B)
Day 7
Berlin, Warsaw
Leaving Berlin, travel by train across Northern Germany into Poland and on to the country’s capital, Warsaw. On arrival, check in to your hotel before dinner at a local restaurant. Stay: Warsaw, Mercure Warszawa Grand (3 Nights) (B/D)
Day 8
Warsaw Sightseeing
On a tour of Warsaw today, visit the site of the Jewish Ghetto and the Palace of Culture and Science, then head to Lazienki Park. See Lazienki Palace, set on an island on Lazienki Lake, as well as the Roman-inspired amphitheatre and the statue erected in honour of locally-born Frédéric Chopin. Later, take a trip to Wilanów Palace, a second home to many Polish kings. (B)
Day 9
Warsaw, Krakow
Today, travel to the city of Krakow. On the way, stop at Czestochowa. Visit Jasna Gora Monastery to see the Black Madonna, a holy icon of the Virgin Mary that is both Poland’s holiest relic and one of the country’s national symbols. In the afternoon, travel to the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum for a tour, and learn of the plight of the Jews who were sent to the concentration camp. Continue to Krakow and settle in to your hotel. Stay: Radisson Blu Hotel Krakow (2 Nights) (B/D)

Krakow Sightseeing
Embark on a tour of Krakow, including the cathedral and castle on Wawel Hill, St Mary’s Church and Cloth Hall. In the afternoon visit the impressive Wielickzka Salt Mine. (B)

Krakow, Budapest, Embark Ship
This morning travel to Budapest, where you will board the MS AmaLegro and tonight enjoy the Captain’s Gala Welcome Dinner. Stay: MS Johann Strauss (14 Nights) (B/D)

Budapest
Join a sightseeing tour of Budapest. Visit 500 year-old Matthias Church, St Stephen’s Basilica, the distinctive Fisherman’s Bastion, the Royal Palace and historic Buda Castle, offering views of Buda and Pest over both banks of the river. This evening enjoy a twilight cruise, allowing you to take in the glittering lights of Budapest, as well as an onboard performance by Gypsy violinists. (B/L/D)

Bratislava
Enjoy a relaxing morning as you cruise to Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia. Upon arrival, disembark your ship and join a walking tour through this intriguing city. This evening, enjoy dinner and an evening music performance as you cruise to Vienna. (B/L/D)
Day 14
Vienna
Today take a sightseeing tour of Vienna, including St Stephen’s Cathedral, Hofburg Imperial Palace, and more. Tonight, perhaps join us for an optional Mozart and Strauss concert (own expense). (B/L/D)
Day 15
Dürnstein, Melk
This morning reach the Wachau Valley and stop in Dürnstein for a wine tasting and a tour. At lunch, continue to Melk for a tour of Melk Abbey, one of the world’s most famous monastic sites. (B/L/D)
Day 16
Linz, Passau
Cruise from Linz to Passau. Disembark for a tour of this city, situated on the Austrian border at the confluence of the Danube, the Inn, and the Ilz rivers. Alternatively, today you can choose to join an optional tour to Salzburg and its ‘Sound of Music’ sights (own expense). (B/L/D)
Day 17
Regensburg
Arrive in Regensburg, where a guided tour of the city’s architectural highlights includes the Old Town Hall and the Porta Pretoria – gates to an ancient Roman fort built in 179 AD. Alternatively, you can take an optional tour to Weltenburg Abbey (own expense). Tonight, folklore entertainers perform on board. (B/L/D)
Day 18
Nuremberg
Nuremberg played a pivotal role for the Nazi Party during World War II and acted as the symbolic host of the Nuremberg Trials Today, visit a number of Nuremberg’s World War II sites on a guided tour. (B/L/D)
Day 19
Bamberg
Disembark just outside of Bamberg and travel by coach into this enchanting town. As one of the few cities in Germany that wasn’t destroyed by bombs during World War II, Bamberg was declared a World Heritage listed site in 1993. Here, tour the city’s serpentine streets, then enjoy time to shop or explore before continuing your cruise. (B/L/D)
Day 20
Kitzingen, Würzburg
Arrive in Kitzingen and enjoy a walking tour through this pretty town. Then continue to Würzburg and join a guided sightseeing tour. Sur rounded by green hills covered with vineyards, Würzburg is the capital of Lower Franconia and a crucial centre for wine and trade. Your tour will take in the Residential Palace and churches ranging in styles from Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque to Modern. Alternatively, this afternoon you can also take an optional excursion to Rothenburg (own expense). (B/L/D)
Day 21
Wertheim, Miltenberg
This morning on board, enjoy an intriguing glass-blowing demonstration as you cruise to Wertheim, located where the Main and Tauber rivers meet. Disembark and enjoy time at leisure to look around and perhaps venture up to spectacular Wertheim Castle. Afterwards, board a coach and travel to Freudenberg, where you’ll rejoin the ship. During lunch, continue cruising to Miltenberg. On arrival, enjoy a tour of this lovely Franconian town. (B/L/D)
Day 22
Rüdesheim, Koblenz
Arrive in Rüdesheim, where a mini-train will take you to Siegfried’s Mechanical Musical Instrument Museum. Here, a tour will highlight one of the largest collections of automated musical instruments in the world. Later, cruise through the Rhine Gorge on the most beautiful stretch of the Rhine. After dinner, explore the sights of Koblenz. (B/L/D)

Koblenz, Cologne
Today cruise from Koblenz to Cologne. This evening, enjoy an evening stroll through the city and see magnificent Cologne Cathedral lit up at night. (B/L/D)
Day 24
Cologne – Amsterdam
Arrive in Amsterdam and join a canal boat cruise in a glass-top boat. Admire 17th century homes, charming churches and 16th century merchant houses. Return to your ship for the Captain’s Gala Farewell Dinner. (B/L/D)
Day 25
Disembark Ship, Depart Amsterdam
This morning following breakfast, you’ll disembark the ship and be transferred to the airport for your onward flight. (B)

Travel documents, including your travel kit (with luggage labels, ticket wallet, personalised itinerary, touring information and travel bag), are sent approximately two to three weeks prior to departure from your home country, provided full payment has been received.

Custom-designed and built in Holland by the world's foremost ship building experts, The ms AmaLegro signifys the evolution of modern river cruising. From the intricate elegance of the interior appointments and the opulence of the suites to the wealth of recreational choice provided in the vessel's public areas, this river ship is truly one of the finest on Europe's waters.
All meals are prepared by European chefs and consist of European-style food that has been adjusted for our passengers. On board, enjoy a full buffet breakfast in the restaurant. Lunch offers salads, soups, a choice of mains and dessert. Dinner is a multi-course meal with a selection of mains. Coffee and tea are available free of charge throughout the day and during meals. Water on board the ships is drinkable. Wine, soft drinks or beer are included with dinner on board.
Handicapped facilities on board are limited. River cruise vessels
are not equipped with wheelchair ramps and hallways and doors
may not be wide enough to accommodate wheelchairs. Ships are
equipped with an elevator but it does not access all decks. Additionally,
motorcoaches and minibuses used for transfers and shore excursions
may not be equipped with wheelchair ramps. Any condition requiring
special attention must be reported to Travelmarvel at the time of booking.
Facilities and services for passengers with disabilities differ among
destinations and, in some cases, may be limited or non-existent.
Participants requiring special assistance must be accompanied by a
person responsible for and physically able to provide such assistance.
Transfers and shore excursions follow a predetermined timetable
and thus participants should have no physical impairment(s) that
would affect the time schedules or interfere with the rights of other
passengers on their holiday. Without limitation, Travelmarvel and its affiliates
are not responsible for any denial of services by airline carriers,
cruise vessels, hotels, lodges, coaches, local guides, operators
or other independent suppliers.
For your convenience, all purchases and paid services on board
are billed with a guest check and added to your shipboard account.
At the end of the cruise, you will receive a total, which can be paid
with cash or credit card. The ships do not accept payments made
by Diners Club cards. The onboard currency is the Euro.
Solo travellers pay only a single supplement on all suite categories from E to P+ on European River Crusies. Single Supplements vary on a tour by tour basis, please ask for more details when enquiring for the latest price. On Exclusive Sailings we will match up those who are willing to share a suite with another single traveller of the same gender, so you don't have to pay the single supplement. If no match is found then single supplements apply.
Arrival & Departure Information
Prebooked Transfers
All Travelmarvel clients travelling on an Exclusive Sailing or Exclusive land
tours receive a transfer on the first and last day of the tour. This will
be from the airport to/from either the ship or tour hotel. A transfer
is not included, though may be purchased, should you be arriving
or departing on days other than the first and last day of touring.
These additional transfers are only applicable when your
pre and/or post tour arrangements are booked with Global Journeys & APT.
On Your Own Transfers
If you have not arranged an arrival transfer with Global Journeys, make your own way
to the ship or hotel with the help of the information provided in your itinerary. If you have independent travel arrangements
prior to your Travelmarvel tour and do not have an Travelmarvel transfer, the Tourist
Information office at your arrival city will be able to offer assistance
with directions to the ship or hotel. If you transfer to the ship on
your own, we recommend you call the ship prior to confirm the
ships docking location.
