Budapest, Embark Ship
Today, you’ll arrive in the magnificent Hungarian capital of Budapest. Special Stay – step aboard your premium river ship, the MS Johann Strauss, and meet your Travelmarvel Cruise Director and fellow passengers before a Taste of Hungary – on board this evening. Budapest
Explore Budapest’s finest sights, including Matthias Church, Heroes’ Sqaure, Buda Castle and the city’s ornate Houses of Parliament, through the expert eyes of your local guide. Awed by its illustrious history and magnificent architecture, you’ll soon come to understand why Budapest enjoys its reputation as ‘The Paris of Central Europe’. (B/L/D)
Day 3
Vienna
Your ship docks in Vienna, Austria’s celebrated capital. A tailor-made walking and coach tour then treats you to an insider’s view of the city’s best-loved landmarks, including Vienna’s commanding Town Hall. Like a Local – this afternoon enjoy a visit to an old Schnapps distillery for a tour and tasting. (B/L/D)

Vienna
Enjoy a full day at leisure to discover Vienna or join an optional excursion to the capital’s former royal residence of Schönbrunn Palace. See the palace’s lavish interiors and exquisite gardens, showcasing the Habsburg empire. This evening, perhaps join an optional Mozart and Strauss classical concert. (B/L/D)
Day 5
Dürnstein, Melk
Start today with a guided walk of the charming town of Dürnstein, then later, visit a local vintner for a wine tasting. Reboard your ship and cruise towards Melk, where a local guide will show you Melk Abbey, one of the world’s most famous monastic sites, founded in 1089. (B/L/D)
Day 6
Linz, Passau
On arrival in Linz, you may opt to take a drive to Mozart’s home town, Salzburg, for a tour of the ‘Sound of Music’ sights, or you can choose to visit the enchanting Czech town of Ceský Krumlov (see page 49 for details). Alternatively, cruise to Passau, where the rivers Inn and Ilz join the Danube, for a guided tour through the city. (B/L/D)

Regensburg
Still on the majestic Danube River, the medieval town of Regensburg awaits this morning. Here, a guided tour tells of the city’s journey through the ages. Later, you’ll reboard and reflect on the day spent in this Bavarian jewel. (B/L/D)
Day 8
Nuremberg
Visiting Nuremberg today, you’ll learn about the city’s role in World War II during a guided tour that includes the Zeppelin Field, where many Nazi rallies were held. Afterwards, your ship will continue cruising along the Main-Danube Canal, crossing Europe’s Continental Divide. (B/L/D)
Day 9
Bamberg
One of the few German cities that was not destroyed by bombs during World War II, World Heritage-listed Bamberg beckons this morning. Today, you’ll gain local insight into this beautiful city during a guided tour of the city centre. (B/L/D)
Day 10
Kitzingen, Würzburg
This morning cruise the Main River to Kitzingen for a guided tour. Later you’ll reboard and journey to Würzburg, to visit the city’s Residential Palace and local churches of various styles. You may choose to take an optional excursion to travel along the Romantic Road to the medieval town of Rothenburg. (B/L/D)
Day 11
Wertheim, Miltenberg
Today, travel to Wertheim for a walking tour of the town’s historic landmarks. Like a Local – here, you’ll learn the art of pretzel making at a local bakery. Later, reboard your ship and cruise downstream enjoying an onboard glassblowing demonstration along the way. (B/L/D)
Day 12
Rüdesheim, Koblenz
In Rüdesheim, ride the Winzerexpress mini-train to Siegfried’s Mechanical Musical Instrument Museum, home to Germany’s most remarkable collection of automated musical instruments. Later, cruise through the magical scenery of the Rhine Gorge to Koblenz, where you’ll be able to enjoy a post-dinner stroll around the town. (B/L/D)

Koblenz, Cologne
Your cruise continues down the majestic Rhine River towards Cologne and its towering spires that dominate its skyline. Here, you’ll enjoy an informative sightseeing tour as well as a Taste of Cologne – a visit to a local brewery to sample some of the city’s boutique beer. (B/L/D)
Day 14
Cologne – Amsterdam
Spend an enchanting time on board a glass-top boat as you explore the city’s picturesque canals. Pass under charming bridges and take in the glorious architecture that makes Amsterdam so appealing. Disembark Ship, Depart Paris

Paris Sightseeing
This morning, you’ll open the door to some of Paris’ best-loved sights. On a city tour, take in the Avenue des Champs-Élysées, as well as the Arc de Triomphe and more. A Taste of Paris – you then ascend to the second viewing level of the Eiffel Tower, where sweeping city panoramas and a lunch of delicious French cuisine await. Paris at Leisure
city of romance, culture and breezy boulevards, Paris is known to rejuvenate the senses. Armed with the insight provided by your Travelmarvel Tour Director, enjoy the whole day to explore independently. Travel documents, including your travel kit (with luggage labels, ticket wallet, personalised itinerary, touring information and travel bag), are sent approximately two to three weeks prior to departure from your home country, provided full payment has been received.
The ms AmaLegro is a state-of-the-art ship, and was designed with our valued travellers in mind. Our operation allows us total control in delivering the standards for which we are famous. Custom-designed and built in Holland by the world's foremost ship building experts, The ms AmaLegro signifys the evolution of modern river cruising. From the intricate elegance of the interior appointments and the opulence of the suites to the wealth of recreational choice provided in the vessel's public areas, this river ship is truly one of the finest on Europe's waters.
All meals are prepared by European chefs and consist of European-style food that has been adjusted for our passengers. On board, enjoy a full buffet breakfast in the restaurant. Lunch offers salads, soups, a choice of mains and dessert. Dinner is a multi-course meal with a selection of mains. Coffee and tea are available free of charge throughout the day and during meals. Water on board the ships is drinkable. Wine, soft drinks or beer are included with dinner on board.
Handicapped facilities on board are limited. River cruise vessels
are not equipped with wheelchair ramps and hallways and doors
may not be wide enough to accommodate wheelchairs. Ships are
equipped with an elevator but it does not access all decks. Additionally,
motorcoaches and minibuses used for transfers and shore excursions
may not be equipped with wheelchair ramps. Any condition requiring
special attention must be reported to Travelmarvel at the time of booking.
Facilities and services for passengers with disabilities differ among
destinations and, in some cases, may be limited or non-existent.
Participants requiring special assistance must be accompanied by a
person responsible for and physically able to provide such assistance.
Transfers and shore excursions follow a predetermined timetable
and thus participants should have no physical impairment(s) that
would affect the time schedules or interfere with the rights of other
passengers on their holiday. Without limitation, Travelmarvel and its affiliates
are not responsible for any denial of services by airline carriers,
cruise vessels, hotels, lodges, coaches, local guides, operators
or other independent suppliers.
For your convenience, all purchases and paid services on board
are billed with a guest check and added to your shipboard account.
At the end of the cruise, you will receive a total, which can be paid
with cash or credit card. The ships do not accept payments made
by Diners Club cards. The onboard currency is the Euro.
Solo travellers pay only a single supplement on all suite categories from E to P+ on European River Crusies. Single Supplements vary on a tour by tour basis, please ask for more details when enquiring for the latest price. On Exclusive Sailings we will match up those who are willing to share a suite with another single traveller of the same gender, so you don't have to pay the single supplement. If no match is found then single supplements apply.
Arrival & Departure Information
Prebooked Transfers
All Travelmarvel clients travelling on an Exclusive Sailing or Exclusive land
tours receive a transfer on the first and last day of the tour. This will
be from the airport to/from either the ship or tour hotel. A transfer
is not included, though may be purchased, should you be arriving
or departing on days other than the first and last day of touring.
These additional transfers are only applicable when your
pre and/or post tour arrangements are booked with Global Journeys & APT.
On Your Own Transfers
If you have not arranged an arrival transfer with Global Journeys, make your own way
to the ship or hotel with the help of the information provided in your itinerary. If you have independent travel arrangements
prior to your Travelmarvel tour and do not have an Travelmarvel transfer, the Tourist
Information office at your arrival city will be able to offer assistance
with directions to the ship or hotel. If you transfer to the ship on
your own, we recommend you call the ship prior to confirm the
ships docking location.
