Paris Sightseeing
This morning see the sights of Paris during a guided tour, including Notre Dame Cathedral, the Louvre Museum, the Arc de Triomphe, Avenue des Champs Élysées and more. The rest of the day is then at leisure. This evening, perhaps attend an optional cabaret show (own expense). (B)

With a full day at leisure today, you may like to go strolling along the boutique-lined boulevards or ascend to the top of the Eiffel Tower. Perhaps sip coffee in the Latin Quarter, wander the famous Rue Mouffetard, or chat with one of the many artists along the Seine River. (B)

Travel by high-speed train into the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, one of the world’s smallest countries. On arrival in the World Heritage-listed city, enjoy a tour, then head for Remich. Enjoy a pleasant morning cruising along the Moselle River, a winding and picturesque waterway. Absorb the scenery of the spectacular Moselle Valley as you pass landscapes of lush vineyards and rolling hills. This afternoon, you'll arrive in the charming town of Bernkastel, which is overlooked by ruins of Castle Landshut. Strategically located in the heart of the Moselle Valley, Bernkastel boasts over 500 years of documented wine history and features a medieval marketplace, half-timbered homes with steep gables and beautiful town squares with fountains dating back centuries. Here today, you'll enjoy a guided walking tour followed by a visit to a vineyard. Then learn about the wines of the region during a wine tasting with a local vintner. (B/L/D)

Cochem, Koblenz
Today, disembark and travel to Cochem, which is known for its cosy wine taverns and colourful riverside promenades. Here, you may like to embark on a guided bike tour of the town. Alternatively, a walking tour includes a visit to the fairytale-style Reichsburg Cochem. Explore the castle's Baroque and Renaissance-furnished interior and learn about its enduring history. Then take your time to enjoy lovely views of the Moselle River, afforded by the castle's spectacular position, perched on hill more than 100 metres above the river. After the tour, re-board your ship and enjoy an afternoon of picturesque cruising along the Moselle River to Koblenz, located at the confluence of the Rhine and Moselle rivers. (B/L/D)

Koblenz
This morning, enjoy a tour of Koblenz, a historic 2,000 year-old wine-producing city. See the Four Towers, the Church of Our Lady and hear the story behind the Schängel Fountain and City Hall. Afterwards, re-board your ship for lunch as it cruises through the Rhine Gorge, along what is considered the most beautiful stretch of the Rhine. As you cruise, keep a watch for the ancient castles and castle ruins dotted about the steep vineyard covered slopes. (B/L/D)

Mainz & Rüdesheim OR Heidelberg
After breakfast this morning, you'll disembark your ship in Mainz. Here, choose from two different sightseeing options. Perhaps take a guided tour of historic Mainz and visit the Gutenberg Museum. As one of the oldest museum's of printing in the world, the Gutenberg is home to such artefacts as the world's first printed bible. Then travel to Rüdesheim, a picture-perfect Rhine Valley wine town. Enjoy an afternoon of wine tasting with a local vintner before free time to further explore the town. Alternatively, journey to the ancient university town of Heidelberg to tour the town's old quarter and monumental red-walled Heidelberg Castle, where you'll enjoy views of the Neckar Valley and see the Great Vat, a 49,000 gallon, 18th-century wine cask. After both groups then enjoy dinner on board, this evening in Rüdesheim, visit Siegfried’s Mechanical Musical Instrument Museum, home to Germany’s most impressive collection of automated musical instruments. This morning, your cruise continues on to Cologne. Here, disembark and enjoy a walking tour of the Old Town and Cathedral Square. See several of the city's landmarks as well as Kölner Dom – the famous Gothic cathedral around which Cologne is centred. Or perhaps set off on a guided tour by bicycle. Afterwards, you will have free time to linger in the cathedral, browse the many nearby shops or perhaps enjoy a glass of Kölsch, Cologne’s famous beer. (B/L/D)

Thanks to its waterways, Amsterdam enjoys a leisurely pace. The city's network of 17th-century canals are clustered with historic houses and studded with low bridges, so it's easy to see why this capital city is also known as The Venice of the North. This morning, on arrival in Amsterdam, you'll board a glass-top boat and glide past the city’s impressive waterside facades. Later, back on land, enjoy a city tour of Amsterdam, taking in the major sights before stopping off at Rembrandt’s famous Windmill, which was immortalised in the artist’s acclaimed paintings. When will I receive my documents?

Travel documents, including your travel kit (with luggage labels, ticket wallet, personalised itinerary, touring information and travel bag), are sent approximately two to three weeks prior to departure from your home country, provided full payment has been received.

Are meals included onboard?

All meals are prepared by European chefs and consist of European-style food that has been adjusted for our passengers. On board, enjoy a full buffet breakfast in the restaurant. Lunch offers salads, soups, a choice of mains and dessert. Dinner is a multi-course meal with a selection of mains. Coffee and tea are available free of charge throughout the day and during meals. Water on board the ships is drinkable. Wine, soft drinks or beer are included with dinner on board. All meals on board are included. Meals are served in the dining room in a single sitting. Open seating allows you to sit at different tables if you wish to meet other fellow passengers.

What are your handicapped facilities like?

Handicapped facilities on board are limited. River cruise vessels are not equipped with wheelchair ramps and hallways and doors may not be wide enough to accommodate wheelchairs. Ships are equipped with an elevator but it does not access all decks (apart from the Sound of Music with no elevator onboard). Additionally, motorcoaches and minibuses used for transfers and shore excursions may not be equipped with wheelchair ramps. Any condition requiring special attention must be reported to APT at the time of booking. Facilities and services for passengers with disabilities differ among destinations and, in some cases, may be limited or non-existent. Participants requiring special assistance must be accompanied by a person responsible for and physically able to provide such assistance. Transfers and shore excursions follow a predetermined timetable and thus participants should have no physical impairment(s) that would affect the time schedules or interfere with the rights of other passengers on their holiday. Without limitation, APT and its affiliates are not responsible for any denial of services by airline carriers, cruise vessels, hotels, lodges, coaches, local guides, operators or other independent suppliers.

Are gratuities included??

Gratuities to your Cruise Director and ship crew are included in the tour price.

How do I pay for purchases and services onboard?

For your convenience, all purchases and paid services on board are billed with a guest check and added to your shipboard account. At the end of the cruise, you will receive a total, which can be paid with cash or credit card. The ships do not accept payments made by Diners Club cards. The onboard currency is the Euro.

Do you have a share program for singles?

Solo travellers pay only a 50% single supplement on all suite categories from E to P+ on European River Crusies. On Exclusive Sailings we will match up those who are willing to share a suite with another single traveller of the same gender, so you don't have to pay the single supplement. If no match is found then single supplements apply.

 

Arrival & Departure Information

Prebooked Transfers

All APT clients travelling on an Exclusive Sailing or Exclusive land tours receive a transfer on the first and last day of the tour. This will be from the airport to/from either the ship or tour hotel. A transfer is not included, though may be purchased, should you be arriving or departing on days other than the first and last day of touring. These additional transfers are only applicable when your pre and/or post tour arrangements are booked with Global Journeys & APT.

On Your Own Transfers

If you have not arranged an arrival transfer with Global Journeys, make your own way to the ship or hotel with the help of the information provided in your itinerary. If you have independent travel arrangements prior to your APT tour and do not have an APT transfer, the Tourist Information office at your arrival city will be able to offer assistance with directions to the ship or hotel. If you transfer to the ship on your own, we recommend you call the ship prior to confirm the ships docking location. The APT Europe Office is available in case of an emergency.
