Best of Spain

15 Day Best of Spain

The tour was good value for money, the tour director and the driver were both very professional and went out of their way to help. The tour director was as flexible as she could be given the tight schedule we had to keep to. The bus was very comfortable and having a toilet on board was an added bonus. The tour did not give me enough time to enjoy some of the places we visited at my own pace. In future I would look at not going on all the optional tours so I can concentrate on just relaxing every now and then. The restaurants the tour chose for us provided us with excellent service and food. Overall the accommodation was comfortable and clean, however, I would have preferred that the hotels were closer to the centres of the cities so I could do more exploring on foot. The accommodation on the last night in Madrid was appalling; it was disappointing to end the tour in such a dreadful place. All in all I highly recommend this tour to anyone who can keep up the pace.

We had a great time on our tour and loved all the places we were taken to. It was a whirlwind trip and we saw so much in a very short period of time (8 days). We know the trip was a taster to see the highlights and to make us want to see more. It worked! Our tour director Mike was excellent and his knowledge and language skills were second to none. The next time we would take a longer trip with at least 2 days in each main city. The group we went with were all marvellous and the different personalities and nationalities made for an excellent experience. Thank you for a wonderfull trip. [More+]

This was the first guided tour we had ever been on. We usually just plan our own activities and go where we want to. From start to finish the tour was simply amazing. Everything was organised for us, and we got to see way more in one day than we could ever organise ourselves. We saw so much of England in 6 days it was amazing. We will definately be travelling with Trafalgar again. The tour director and driver were amazing guys who made everything fun and educational. Hotels and food included was excellent and value for money was superb. Yvonne from Global Journeys organised our booking and provided assistance whenever we needed it. She also gave us helpful hints. Thank you for your excellent service and assistance, we will be booking with you again in the future. [More+]

Best of Portugal

11 Day Best of Portugal

I was very sceptical about booking through an online agency but was very pleasantly surprised by the prompt service and suggestions. My holiday was booked very quickly and without any problems and I was happy that I could take advantage of the special Trafalgar offer. I've sent the Global Journeys weblink to all my friends and family and have inspired them to take a similar trip. My Portugal tour with Trafalgar was incredible and being an avid traveller, it would be the best tour I have taken. The Tour Director obviously had a great of input into designing the trip, and his expertise, enthusiasm and knowledge of his country was very much appreciated and enjoyed. The hotels were superior and the included food was excellent. The optionals were great and I thought the whole tour package was excellent value for money.

Scenic England

6 Day Scenic England

I had a wonderful time and I couldn't praise enough the whole experience. Georgie from Global Journeys was extremely helpful, courteous and very efficient with her help to me with my all my queries and needs. She followed through with every request with promptness and friendliness. Thank you Georgie for your wonderful service. The whole procedure for me, a total novice at the computer and booking things on-line was so simple thanks to you. The tour itself was amazing. The tour guide, Steen Harris was both professional to his toes, but with a very warm wit and amazingly good knowledge of his surroundings. It was a pleasure to hear his recounting the information regarding the places we visited, as well as his very up to date knowledge of all that's happening in the UK, unlike a previous tour taken many years ago, when the guides voice was a drivelling self indulgent monotone. The hotels that we stayed at were of an excellent quality and very good food was offered at each meal. The coach was comfortable and kept spotless by the extremely good driver, Shane. So all told, a pure joy to experience and highly recommended to anyone wishing to do this or a similar tour with Trafalgar. It offers value for money and extremely good service throughout.

Best of Scotland

7 Day Best of Scotland

Great organisation by agent Georgie Walpole, extremely efficient and hassle free. Tour of Scotland was very enjoyable, tour leader Tom was knowledgeable and organised and a pleasant guy. Bus new and comfortable and driver also exemplary. The guide at Edinburgh Castle was loud and self important and treated us like children. There is no doubt he is very knowledgeable but I think you could do better here. The whiskey distillery was not functioning when we visited and the guide was bored and boring. This was a big waste of time and every one who went agreed it was hopeless. Apart from these two minor problems the trip was all I hoped for. It gave me a glimpse of Scotland and I will return there for a longer holiday in future. The Highlands and Loch Lomand cruise were in my opinion the best part but of course that is just personal preference.

Highlights of France & Barcelona

9 Day Highlights of France & Barcelona

We undertook two tours, the second of which was a Trafalgar tour of France and Spain, which was excellent, and with just 29 on board it was much easy to move around and to get to know people. The pace was slightly more relaxed than on our Globus UK tour. The Tour Guide, Martine Carr was extremely pleasant, competent, and had all the info at her fingertips. The driver also was very competent and managed to negotiate some very tight spots indeed. A couple of times he was caught out by his GPS on roads he was unfamiliar with, but it caused no real dramas. The Trafalgar tour coach was better than the Globus coaches as far as comfort was concerned. All accommodation was top notch, and the included meals were also excellent. Given that it was France and the 'Home of quality Wines' we were most disappointed with the poor wines we were served with our included meals though. The 'Be My Guest' dinner was truly excellent, but the optional Flaminco Dancing after the Farewell dinner in Barcellona was quite uninspiring. All the places we visited were fantastic and well worth seeing - particularly Paris, Monte Carlo, St Paul, & Montserrat Monastery amonst many others. There were a few very long days of travelling where some good tourist spots - even Wineries could have been included to break up the long hours sitting in the coach. The truck stops we used instead on the Freeways were very ordinary. The first long haul was from Bourges to a truck stop near Vichy, the second was from there to Lyon, the third was from Lyon to Chateauuneuf du Pape north of Avignon, the fourth was from Avignon to Nice, and the largest and most uninteresting haul was from Cannes to Barcelona with some very ordinary truckstops along the way. The long distances had to be done, but some enjoyable scenic/tourist breaks would have helped. Perhaps an extra day and stop overnight near Marseille could be considered to break up this last haul, or alternatively have a different tour that finishes at Nice or Marseille and their airports. Overall these minor negatives were outweighed by the fantastic places we visited and saw, and the expert commentary. The detailed tour information, patient guidance and help from Yvonne Brooks from Global Journeys was fantastic, and she made our first time overseas trip a hassle-free experience. I would strongly recommend this tours to anyone who wants to see a lot of France in a short time, who wants value for money, and is prepared to be 'busy'. (GJ: Review split over two tours taken.)

Grand European

21 Day Grand European

Brian and I have waited more than 20 years to do our first big European trip together, so we wanted it to be perfect and hassle free...it was ! Our tour was brilliantly organised by Yvonne Brooks. At first we were a bit concerned using email and internet , but Yvonne was always in contact and quick to respond and alleviate any concerns. Our whole tour went off without a hitch! The tour leader, Howard Hazecamp was excellent and informative. He was very well organised, and even the riots in Rome and a pheasant hitting our bus, did not spoil our trip. Everything went off without a hitch , which we put down to the organisation and attention to detail displayed from the moment we decided to travel! The tour itself was fantastic, we had a great group of people on our tour which made it so much fun. The hotels were excellent and the places we saw and the experiences were unforgettable. We loved The Mt Pilatus Excursion, The Seine and Rhine River Cruises, The Gondolas in Venice - where we were serenaded, Pompeii, Positano, Assisi, Florence, Rome and of course Paris. The city by night tour was spectacular, finishing with the sparkling Eiffel Tower which Howard, took us to as a grand finale. We were so impressed with Howard who always took the time to ensure that every person on the tour was satisfied, all questions were answered and each person felt comfortable. We have shared so many photos and stories with friends and family. One of the highlights was at the end of our tour when flying home we wanted to have a 2 night stopover to break up the trip. Yvonne suggested and organised lovely little details such as a car to pick us up from Hong Kong Airport to take us to the Harbour Grand Hotel, (where we felt like celebrities) . We felt so pampered and spoilt that we arrived home in Australia relaxed and not overly jet lagged. Even when Qantas grounded the Fleet , we emailed Yvonne who sent a prompt reply and some suggestions as to what to do. (The flights resumed the next day and we were not affected thankfully!) We hear so many horror stories about people's trips overseas and I have to say our was not one of them. We loved every minute of it. Everything went seamlessly and we would put that down to the professionalism and organisation of every person we dealt with from the moment we decided to book our holiday . Thank you to Global Journeys and Trafalgar, we will have so many memories to treasure and share and we will certainly be recommending your companies to colleagues, family and friends!

8 Day Britain & Ireland Highlights

Trafalgar First Class tour of Best of Britain & Ireland Highlights for 8 days was excellent. The organisation was impeccable with tour guide Amy Pomeroy doing an extraordinary job of coordinating our arrivals at accommodation (our room keys were always ready within 5 minutes) and sight seeing destinations to ensure that all available time was accounted for in this jam packed adventure. Amy ensured travellers were aware of their duties with regard to punctuality etc and this made the trip even more enjoyable as we did not spend time waiting for people who overslept or overstayed at travel stops. Outstanding job Amy! Martin and John our drivers have amazing driving skills. We felt safe in their hands. The accommodation was excellent and comfortable. We were very happy with the service provided by Georgie of Global Journeys. The Trafalgar Tour of the Rockies in Canada was really great, both the Tour Director and the Bus Driver were very good. 18 Day Rockies Panorama & Alaska Cruise

Initially we had a problem with getting our itinerary before the start of the tour. We received it 1 week prior to us leaving. It did take a few phone calls on our part to Yvonne (our tour consultant). Yvonne sorted it out with Trafalagar. Yvonne did finally receive the tour documents along with a letter of apology from Traflagar Tours for the mix up. The tour itself (Rockies Panorama with Alaska Cruise) was faultless. Everything ran very smoothly. Attractions and the tour director, Anne were great. Accomodation and our bus driver were terrific. I cannot speak highly enough of our bus driver, Virginia. She too was very knowledgable and so friendly and accomodating. I highly recommend Trafalgar Tours and their staff. From rested & relaxed travellers.

Spanish Wonder

9 Day Spanish Wonder

We are seasoned travellers who have always organised our travels based on good research where the car has been our main mode of travel. So we approached the Spanish Wonder Tour with a mixture of both apprehension and curiosity. It wasn't long, though, before we became aware of how memorable and special - and all for the right reasons - that this tour was going to be. Our well-informed, very personable, humorous and extremely helpful and professional guide was enough to ensure a very enjoyable and worthwhile tour. The added bonus, however, of quality local guides and a very pleasant and safe coach driver who provided such a comfortable drive made this a very special tour that certainly well exceeded our expectations. Everything about the tour from the accommodation and group dinners to the scheduled time in the centres visited was carefully organised to guarantee a successful tour for all involved. Well done, Trafalgar.

East Coast USA & Canada

14 Day East Coast USA & Canada

We thoroughly enjoyed the tour. It was well-paced and balanced; the range of places and both the inclusions and additional activities were excellent. It was good to have options for the additional activities, we took most but chose to skip a couple and ejoyed doing something else instead. With any tour there is always the sense that you would like to have more time, or more free time, in some places, and that there was always so much more you could do or see, but within the constraints of a group tour with a tight schedule to keep, it was very comprehensive. The group leader and driver were both highly professional, totally reliable, informative and good people to travel with, keeping us fully informed and handling any issues easily in a friendly manner. The accommodation a very high standard and the included meals were very good. We were fortunate to travel with a very pleasant group of people - the group size, at 52, was large, but people (almost all Australian) got on well and without hassels. Obviously this is not always the case. Overall, a very professional, enlightening and comprehensive tour and good value. It might be important to emphasise more in the promotion of this tour that it does NOT include an extensive coverage of New York - a few people expressed disappointment about this and had not taken the advice to book in a few extra days there.

Britain & Ireland Grandeur

20 Day Britain & Ireland Grandeur

I just wanted to drop you a quick note and thank you for your brilliant service you provided for my most recent tour of the UK and Ireland with Trafalgar! I had an amazing time, the tour itself was perfect and I was extremely pleased with the Tour Director, Peter Lewis. He was a wonderful gentleman, who made the tour so much more satisfying. He had very detailed knowledge about the history of the United Kingdom and was constantly ensuring all his clients were comfortable and he went well beyond his normal duties as a Tour Director. Paul, our bus driver was also fantastic, he had a brilliant sense of humour and was always more than happy to help and offer advice. He was also a wonderful driver and we all felt very safe and secure with Paul behind the wheel. This is the first time I have travelled with Trafalgar and I now plan to make this the only traveling company for future holidays. In fact, I have already been to your website planning my next holiday in a few months. Words cannot describe how happy I am with Trafalgar, from the staff, to the selection of the hotel and the meals, to the itinerary which was perfectly researched and executed. Along with the 'hidden treasures' and the simple ease of traveling, I could not have asked for a better holiday, they were simply impeccable. Thank you so much Georgie for answering all of my questions so quickly and helping me plan this wonderful trip. I look forward to booking my next holiday very soon with Global Journeys.

Really enjoyed and this was our first experience of touring in a large group by coach. This tour was all go and whist some accommodation locations did not lend themselves to a little more free time, most did. A little more free time might be useful but downside is optional tours cant be missed!! A very interesting cross section of people and ages. Giuseppi our tour leader was excellent. I had a fabulous holiday. I have been wanting to tour around Europe for as long as I can remember but at first wasn't too sure about going on my own. It was the biggest holiday I have had but the easiest and totally stress free, even on my own. Thank you to Global Journeys and Georgie for your assistance as it was all very easy to book online and any questions I had were quickly answered through email. I thought Trafalgar were outstanding - our Tour Director, Bernie, was fantastic. His historical knowledge and general information (very useful) was incredible ... even though I may have fallen asleep half way through, too relaxed! It was so well organised that you didn't have to think of a thing, even down to a 'pee pee' stop! We had a diverse group on the tour from families, single people and older couples but we all blended and it added to the experience. Transfers from and to the airport were great and having a Trafalgar rep at the hotel in London was a real bonus as spoke to him about what I would do in London for a couple of days and it was so very easy to get around with his help. Would totally recommend all the above. I only hope I have the opportunity to do another tour sometime in the future.

European Horizons

16 Day European Horizons

My touring experience with Trafalgar was unbelievable for one main reason - our Tour Director Brendon Bush - his talk to us at the beginning of the tour of his expectations of the group so that we could get the best out of the tour proved to be the best advice we could receive. By cooperating with the main one (never being late) it made for the perfect tour as no one was ever kept waiting for inconsiderate passengers. Introducing the concept of our bus being the 'love bus' was a positive outcome for all. By playing the song 'Love is in the Air' as the bus left each morning put us all immediately in a happy mood for the day. If there was any issue with a passenger, he discreetly dealt privately with it and attempted to rectify it as efficiently as possible. Brendon's knowledge of European history and his familiarity with all the places we visited was so impressive and wonderful to share with him. Many on our bus went on to more tours but I heard from 7 fellow passengers that although the next tour was very enjoyable, it wasn't the same without Brendon. My suggestion is that Brendon should be teaching other tour leaders his methods - he certainly has got it perfect after his many years working with bus tours. Our bus driver Marco was a very pleasant and courteous man and excellent driver. It was so good to be in a bus which was so beautifully presented and maintained, although the job was made easier for him as one of the rules was that we never brought hot food on board. Thankyou for a wonderful tour - my first visit to UK and Europe.

11 Day Best of Britain

Many thanks for your help in organising our trip overseas. We had a lovely time and everything ran smoothly. We found Cathay Pacific good to travel with and really appreciated the break en route. We were very happy with the Copthorne Millenium, not least because they had a small refrigerator, a room safe and an ironing board setup in the room. Those items are just great when travelling and more especially when you have a couple of nights stop over. The location was fairly convenient too. We found South Kensington just up the road probably more central, but the hotels didn't seem to be as comfortable as ours. The Best of Britain tour was lovely. We were very fortunate to have just 22 in our group and to have a great tour leader. A criticism, if any, was that Jurys Inn Hotels were used 3 times and they don't seem to have the refrigerator, safe and ironing board in the rooms - whilst available for the asking, the iron in the room is really appreciated, especially on one night stays. Overall the hotels were very good. We were absolutely shattered on our arrival in Hong Kong on the return journey. The staff at the Holiday Inn, Golden Mile were excellent and offered the option of an upgrade for an additional $180 which offered immediate checkin and late checkout 2 days later, together with the lurks and perks of the upgraded room! On our outward journey, we had booked ourselves into the Regal hotel at the airport. This proved to be a good move as we didn't have to leave the airport and found it was less stressful than if we'd gone into town for such a short period.

The tour was good. Not enough time in few countries - Germany and Netherlands especially. Hotels in Nice( Busby) and Paris (Kyriad) especially bad. Yvonne is to be commended for her professionalism and her pleasant all round disposition. Such staff are hard to come by and and asset to any organisation! Do not like the way the tipping is promoted by the tour director etc. Tipping should be up to the individual's discretion and the amount should not be emphasised. It is a privilege, not an entitlement! Have already recommended Global Journeys to a few people and will not hesitate to recommend others.

12 Day Best of Greece & 4 Day Aegean Cruise (Superior)

Trafalgar are usually pretty good. Our guides and people we dealt with from Trafalgar were all excellent as has been the case in the past. The other tourists were all relatively easy to get along with as well and this has also been our past experience. Buses and drivers were also always A1. Accomodation on land sometimes left a bit to be desired and there were superior places available. Their main meeting point in Athens was a 5 star hotel but it was really a 5 star hotel foyer with 3 star accomodation and 1 star cleaning services. Not really impressed with the overall accomodation at all. The biggest gripe with Trafalgar is that we have now done 2 pairs of 2 tours with them and each time we have been given twin bunks despite our requests for double beds. The boat and particularly the food on the boat (Louis lines) for the Greek island cruise was average at best. However we had a really good room (with twin beds). We enjoyed Greece and the Greek people and would like to go back again. Likewise our independent journey to Italy. Thanks for your organisation and help. We had a good holiday. We would recommend both countries to (not too fussy) Australian tourists.

Best of Britain

11 Day Best of Britain

Well this tour certainly covered the highlights and gave a good introduction to England and Scotland. It did dip quickly into Wales, but the one night in Cardiff is exactly that. Unless you forego the optional evening dinner and strike out on your own (as I did - the No. 6 bus takes you right to Cardiff Bay if you're a Torchwood or Doctor Who fan), you won't even see any of Cardiff, except from the coach window. So it's really a tour that covers parts of England and Scotland. Let me get this out of the way first: I would not recommend this tour to the younger crowd. Although it is billed as an all-ages tour, the average age on the coach was definitely over 65. I'm 30 and found this utterly frustrating at times as it really pandered to people who aren't up to moving around too much or are scared to lose sight of the bus for more than a moment. So, while it is open to people of all ages, it's really probably aimed at retired people. That all said, I settled in as best I could to enjoy the tour and made every effort to explore when possible. Luckily the tour on most days stops for several hours at one place or another, which gives those people like me plenty of time to really explore a place on foot and stretch the legs. So while you don't get to stop and visit everything on the itinerary, you do get to explore a few of them quite thoroughly if you grab a quick lunch on the run and walk, walk, walk. The tour director, Charles, was very knowledgeable on the areas we passed through and their sordid history of religious and political back-stabbing. He also didn't seem phased by anything and was very helpful and caring when some people had a few mishaps along the way. He did occasionally play some music over the bus speakers that was of questionable taste, but that's what iPods are for and the older folk around me seemed to like it. Highlights for me on the tour were St Ives with its Cornish Pasties and beautiful scenery; the Scottish Highlands with their unique landscape and the optional extra of a proper Scottish sheep farm complete with a sheepdog demonstration (something I never would have thought to do on my own); the boat tour of Loch Loman; Edinburgh, with it fabulous castle and Old Town (we had lots of time to explore Edinburgh, which I greatly appreciated); and Bath, with its gorgeous bath house and Tudor architecture. Over all, despite feeling somewhat out of place given my age, the tour gave a wonderful overview of the area and has given me ideas for places I'd like to explore more thoroughly if I ever visit the UK again. At all times, I felt safe and secure, the hotel rooms were all clean and comfortable and the bus driver was top notch (you should have seen some of the streets he negotiated). I can't say I'd have chosen this tour if I knew what I know now, but it wasn't bad either. I think perhaps I'm not a coach tour kinda gal.

The tour was better than expected, mainly due to the tour director. Right from that early morning start at the London Coach Terminal, he, Charles Dones, was looking after his group of 44. He made sure everyone was enjoying the tour and nothing was too much trouble. We had 11 full days of sightseeing and things to do, a great way to experience the 'coach touring' type of travel.

Coach tours are a great way to travel for a 'travel virgin' travelling alone. The tours were good and I liked it that the tour wasn't full so I could have 2 seats to myself. It was great to have all the transfers organised and I would definitely like to travel by coach in the future. The additional extra entertainment is sometimes very sschmaltzy and you cannot rely on the tour director for accurate info in regards to this as they are really trying to get extra numbers for the entertainment and dinners. I have now a taste for future travel as the world seems so small and accessible!
