Continental Introduction

14 Day Continental Introduction

Comfortable and roomy coach with very friendly fellow travellers and a great tour director and very friendly and capable driver. Hotels were very nice, though I liked the Royal Hotel in Lucerne the best with a view of the Alps from the window. The tours with local guide to key attractions that was included in the tour were very good and I particularly liked the use of the headsets so that the guides could be clearly heard, even from across the room. Being part of a group tour saved endless time at the entry to various attractions across Europe. All meals included in the tour or on the optional excursions were of a high standard. Trip was very fast paced but very enjoyable. I would recommend this trip to anyone wanting an introduction to Europe, and intend to book my next trip with Globus tours. [More+]

Essential Britain

10 Day Essential Britain

Thoroughly enjoyed the tour however, it was rushed and there are many places we would have liked to spend more time. But realise that to see all of Great Britain in 10 days is a big ask for any tour operator. Accommodation was excellent, tour guide was extremely knowledgable and most helpful to all tour participants. Driver was a safe and confident driver who did a remarkable job manouvering the bus in several difficult turns. We participated in all 'extra excursions' and felt they were all excellent value and offered a variety of social interaction for all guests. We were very happy with our tour and the way we were treated by the staff. Thanks for your assistance in organising the tour, we had a great time and will certainly recommend Global Journeys & Globus to other travellers. [More+]

Britain Sampler

6 Day Britain Sampler

The tour was very fast-paced as it covered a lot of ground in the six days, but that was expected. Both the driver (Mark) and tour guide (Paul) were great. Paul was a fountain of information and nothng was ever too much trouble. Mark's driving was great - able to take alternate routes when necessary. I tend to be a nervous passenger and I've never felt so safe! Paul was both entertaining and informative. I would have loved to spend more time at some of the places we visited, but understood the time constraints. It was unfortunate that the tour that would've given me the time I wanted simply was available on the dates I could travel. But all in all - it was a fantastic trip. [More+]

Spectacular Spain

9 Day Spectacular Spain

A very good tour, especially for the first time visitor to Spain. You get to see all the most stunning attractions, completely hassle-free. This is why I always take a bus tour on my first visit to a country. The tour guide, Rui, was unfailingly kind, helpful and informative. The driver, Pedro, was calm and hard working. The hotels were just delightful and, a sign of the times, all had adequate wifi facilities (every single person/family group on the tour had either a laptop or an iPad). There were about 30 of us on this tour and, despite the diversity of our backgrounds, we were an astonishingly happy and homogenous group - it was a fun 10 days/9 nights. [More+]

Grand Hawaii Vacation

13 Day Grand Hawaii Vacation

We had a great trip and the weather was perfect. Of course much of the success of the trip is due to the tour company Globus and we were extremely happy with every aspect of the tour. The tour guide, Pam Thompson, was exceptional and looked out for everyone's needs as well as having a great sense of humour. An asset to Globus. A tour like this is definitely the way to see all of Hawaii, not just the beaches and coastline. Also learnt lots about the history and culture of Hawaii. We weren't very impressed with Hawaiian Airlines and in hindsight would have opted to fly with Qantas. Thanks for your assistance and yes, this trip is highly recommended! [More+]

South American Odyssey with Amazon & Peru Extensions

25 Day South American Odyssey with Amazon & Peru Extensions

This tour was one of the best travel tours I have ever taken. It was a great adventure. Hotels, the tour director, optional tours were all excellent. The group of tourists - a mixture of Americans, Japanese, Philippinos, Canadians and Australians were a great group to be with - very few complaints among the group. The sights were truly amazing - I did not realise that South America had so much to offer. The Amazon River, Iguassu Falls, Patagonia, Bariloche, Porta Varas, Rio, Buenos Aires,Cusco all superb highlights. Macchu Picchu - what an emotional experience - I was overwhelmed - the dream of my lifetime. Thank you so much for this adventure. [More+]

America's Historic East

8 Day America's Historic East

We found the tour to be very well organised and very informative. The bus driver and the tour manager were both very helpful and the whole tour ran like clockwork. The additional tour guides who were used at specific destinations also really knew their stuff so we did not miss out on anything of significance in any of the places we visited. Instructions given were very clear and after the initial cost of the tour there was very little need to spend any additional money as almost everything was prepaid. Overall a very enjoyable experience and we would not hesitate to do another Globus bus tour.

The Best Of British Isles

17 Day The Best Of British Isles

We undertook two tours, this review relates to our Globus tour of the UK which was excellent, and the help I received from Yvonne at Global Journeys was superb. On this tour we were extremely fortunate to have Jim Lemmon as our Tour Guide. He was well organised, very helpful and pleasant at all times, and he was a 'Walking Encyclopedia'. He managed to link all the regions, towns and buildings etc to their interwoven history in a most enjoyable way. His little 'asides' and bits of history and knowledge were most entertaining. Tony the Irish bus driver was also extremely confident and competent in his driving, and was amazing to watch as he easily negotiated the narow difficult roads and parking spots. The two had obviously worked together often and had a friendly and entertaining repartee for us about the locations etc. They were both most enjoyable. The small detours/alternate routes were most worthwhile as was Jims selection of entertainment and places to visit at the various stops. The group was large - possibly too large at 44 for a top quality tour, so that it was difficult to get to know everyone, and to easily move around. The first coach we had was quite good, but when it went in for servicing in Ireland, the replacement had quite a noisy engine etc. which made sitting near the rear a bit 'tiring', and the next coach we got had many seats that would not recline which was annoying. We saw a huge amount of fantastic places in the 17 days, but it was extremely 'busy' (as I expected), so that the duration of 17 days was definitely a maximum to do before exhaustion set in. It was more enjoyable when we had two nights in the one spot, so that packing up was reduced (and the washing could be completed). There were a few days where we had to travel long distances, but these needed a stop at something of interest to break up the journeys rather than the uninspiring truckstops. The first of these was between York and Hadrians Wall, the second was from Pembrooke to Newport (a very boring day following the very long ferry ride), the third was from Plymouth to Stonehenge, and the fourth was from Salisbury to London. We were lucky with the weather, and all the spots we toured/visited were very interesting and great value, and should not be missed. Perhaps the only let-down was the entertainment in Edinbrough, and the hotel there. Otherwise the accomodation and included meals were generally top value - except for the Glascow hotel where the buffet kept running out of food courses. There were so many excellent highlights of this tour it is difficult to list them all, suffice to say that none should be missed. Overall, these minor negatives were overcome by the excellent service and amazing and historic places we were guided through with some fantastic detailed commentary. The detailed tour information, patient guidance and help from Yvonne Brooks from Global Journeys was fantastic, and she made our first time overseas trip a hassle-free experience. (GJ: Review split over the two tours taken.)

Scottish Highlands & Islands

14 Day Scottish Highlands & Islands

Extremely well organised tour. It was our first coach tour with many other people, so we were a little apprehensive at first. But it all worked very well, thanks mainly to the work of the tour director, Megan. She made the travel, accom, meal organisation, stops along the way all go very smoothly. This tour, around the Scottish Highlands & Islands, is a winner! Magnificent scenery everywhere, interesting visits to castles, abbeys, palaces, ruins & towns/cities. The mix of people was ok - Americans, Canadians and a few of us Aussies all got on well, all 44 of us! Our driver - Danny - was thoroughly professional in his demeanour, and skilled in his driving. The way in which he manoeuvred the large coach around numerous narrow roads in the north of Scotland was extraordinary. And he didn't get us lost once! The coach was always clean and we felt safe in his care. Megan was calm, caring, informative and entertaining throughout. When sickness began striking people down over a few days, she did what she could to alleviate concerns, keep everybody positive and show concern for the sickies. Apparently no other companies do such a tour - I hope Globus keeps this one! We all saw places that we wouldn't have seen on our own, and there was plenty of opportunity to admire the spectacular scenery. All accommodation was excellent - we seemed mostly to have large rooms, often with good views. Meals that were included as part of the tour, were generally very good, with enough choices for everyone. I'm sure we will look at doing another Globus tour soon. We would certainly recommend this tour, without hesitation.

The Best Of Southern England

4 Day The Best Of Southern England

Wow! Absolutely amazing tour of South West England and Wales. We were fully informed at every step of the way onto our tour. Our tour guide Ann Marie was immaculate in her presentation and her delivery of the patter and tour information. It was like being on a cruiseliner, not that I have ever been (but would love to). Her knowledge, personal attention to detail and the level of assistance she imparted to us was par excellence. Our driver Laurie was superb and well acquitted for the role. He drove with safety and finesse on the open (wriggly English) roads and inside each town and village. Nothing was left to chance and we felt part of a happy family right at the outset. We met some wonderful friends early in the tour. The Brits know how to run a fully catered tour, and this company and the immaculate planning schedule they provided us was beyond any other tour we have been on. We learnt a great deal about British history, the royal hatches, matches and dispatches, the general countryside and the purpose behind many of our English terms of reference. We would like to thank Globus for the tremendous effort they have put in to make this one of the best ever trips we have ever had. We would highly recommend a Globus organised tour to any of our friends and family. The add on London excursion to the live performance of Wicked was a bit of a letdown and we were quite disappointed at the end of a superb four day tour. Our London coach departed our meeting point twenty minutes later than the stated time. Then we were informed the restaurant opened half hour later on Saturday, which meant we had to rush through and eat our three course meal hurriedly and did not receive our complimentary coffee. The stall seating in the theatre was average and not as we were lead to believe. Overall a very uneventful and sadly lacking part of our whole experience in London, and more so that it was at the end of a highly successful and enjoyable tour of South West England.

Russia & Northern Europe

18 Day Russia & Northern Europe

We would like to thank all the staff at Global Journey's especially Georgie for all her help and quick response to our inquiries. She and Frances helped us a lot and made this tour very easy to organise the way they responded very quickly to our questions. The tour itself was one of the best tours we ever had. The hotels were great, mostly 5 stars hotels, the food was very nice especially in Russia, the guided sightseeing was excellent and are hosted by locals. The tour director Theo was a bank of knowledge all the time & provided his help to all the tour members. The driver Simon was one of the best bus drivers we ever met, he drove very carefully and was always smiling. The whole tour was a great one, and I recommend booking the optional excursions before you leave home. I recommend the North Zealand castle and country side in Denmark. My partner recommends the Wasa ship musuem in Stockholm. We both recommend the Tallin day tour as it was very nice. Most of the optional excursions are very interesting. The tour was worth every dollar we spent, the service was first class in every hotel. Thanks again and we do recommend Global Journeys if you are planning to go on tour overseas, check their website there are lots of interesting tours.

The Best Of Italy

11 Day The Best Of Italy

This tour could not be faulted - from start with the online booking consultants throught to the tour itself. There was not one 'glitch' from start to finish. The Tour Doumentation sent prior to departure was excellent, accurate & helpful. The Tour Guide was sensational with knowledge, helpfulness & cheer. The local guides used in parts were great also. Hotels were first class in location, comfort & cleanliness. Some hotel included meals were not the best but made up for by the 'optional excursions' like a lunch in Burano, A ventian night out, Tuscan dinner. Even though it was a coach tour there was plenty of walking & rests with 'time off' to either rest, shop or whatever. Touring is the only way to go as everything is organised to get the maximum benifit of seeing as much as possible within the time frame. In short - sensational & would do again!

The Croatian

14 Day The Croatian

We had a very good time. The tour guide Brane Bozic was excellent. Branes' knowledge of all the areas was fantastic. His driver Charlie was the best. A very competent driver through some very hairy situations. The bus was very comfortable. We felt very safe throughout the tour. All the tour guides for the city tours were excellent. We enjoyed all the cities and towns that we visited. The best hotel for luxury was in Dubrovnic. The rooms were outstanding and the food was excellent. The hotel in Vienna was also excellent with great staff and food. The room was very comfortable. The setting very quaint. We also did a lot of the optional tours which also were very enjoyable and we thought the prices of the tours very reasonable. We had a great group on the bus and everybody enjoyed each others company. We had a lot of very good times and lots of memories. The only negative I felt was that 2 nights in Zagreb was 1 night too many and that could be added on to either Ljubljana, Split, Dubrovnik or Plitvice. Many thanks for a wonderful tour.

Britain & Ireland In Depth

22 Day Britain & Ireland In Depth

It was a wonderful tour - the itinerary was very well worked out to include the most memorable places and the time allocation for each place was perfect. Our tour leader, Gordon, was highly experienced and most knowledgeable about the history, culture and geography of all places we passed through. Tony, our driver, was really acccomlished and everything went like clockwork. We learnt so much, saw wonderful scenery and had great experiences in all the towns we stayed at. The hotels were very well located and generally excellent. The tour group all got on very well, socialised and there was always a friendly atmosphere. We went on nearly all the optional excursions which were really worthwhile and added greatly to our enjoyment of the holiday.

14 Day Scottish Highlands & Islands

I had a great time on my tour. It covered a diverse range of the Scottish landscape with interesting visits to a range of historical sites. The tour director was well organized and helpful as well as providing interesting commentaries during our travels. The driver was the best. I would recommend this tour to anyone wanting to see parts of Scotland not easily accessible to the sole traveler and the islands.

14 Day Spanish Fiesta

We were very satisfied with the service offered by Yvonne at Global Journeys. The tour itself was excellent and we enjoyed it immensely. However we noted on our feedback form to Globus that the standard of service and food at a couple of hotels was below the acceptable standard. As far as the other hotels were concerned, we found them to be have excellent standards of food and service. Thanks again.

Our tour guide was Rui Veiga and we could not have had a more knowledgeable and congenial host. His commentaries were excellent and his information often went beyond the usual scope of a tour guide. He made the holiday in Portugal for me and other members of the group. A common opinion of Portugal was that we were pleased to have seen it but would not want to return.

10 Day Imperial Splendors

We really enjoyed our tour hotels and food. Excellent tour guide, best we've ever had on a tour, wide range of history, very helpful at all times and had a great knowledge of where we were visiting. We used the 'whispers' for the first time and it is an excellent idea. We could hear everything that was said and we lost nobody. The driver was also very nice, always on time and generally very helpful. The group of people we traveled with were really nice, happy and it was lovely to be part of their company We would have no hesitation in recommending the tour. All in all we had a fab time plus the weather was good also, more than we can say for the Irish weather horrible - but you take what you get!

The tour was above expectation. The tour guide was very knowledgable, approachable, helpful and entertaining. The bus driver was second to none. The extra tours on offer were excellent. Would not hesitate to recomment Globus Tours to any prospective traveller. One of the bonus' to your guided tours is your access to famous landmarks. (Coliseum, Vatican City, The Louvre, Eiffel Tower, Moulin Rouge just to name a few). Having caught the travel bug, will be checking Global Journeys web site for our next adventure.
