The Barossa is Australia's most famous wine region, and with over 50 cellar door outlets there are numerous opportunities to sample the region's most famous product. ClimateThe Barossa region has a typical Mediterranean climate with dry summers and mild winters. Most rains fall between April and October. Autumn (March to May) brings mild days with cool evenings, while the winter months (June to August) bring chilly days at around 14 degrees Celsius and cold nights at around 5 degrees Celsius. In spring visitors can expect cool mornings and evenings with beautiful sunny days, while summer generally brings good weather with maximum temperatures averaging 28 degrees Celsius. Main AttractionsTorrens River / Gorge - The river flows through the Torrens Gorge entering suburban Adelaide at Athelstone. It passes the city-centre to form the Torrens Lake between the Adelaide Zoo and a weir opposite Adelaide Gaol. It then flows 8km to the sea at Henley Beach. Chain of Ponds Winery - The Chain of Ponds Winery and Cellar Door has within its 150 acres of vineyards, a beautifully renovated 1880s stone cottage. Wine tasting, regional platters and cheese platters available at the Cellar Door which has a distinctly Italian feel. Lyndock Bakery - Fully licensed restaurant and bakery – The Lyndoch Bakery and restaurant makes all their food fresh on the premises in Lyndoch everyday. Angus Park Fruit Co. - Fruit is transported to the Angaston plant for washing, hand sorting, laboratory testing and packing. Australian owned since 1911, it has grown into one of the most successful dried fruit companies in the world. Peter Lehman Wines - Lunch at the vineyard of one of Australia’s most respected and innovative winemakers. Penfolds/Grange & other vineyards - The region is home many famous Australian names - Yalumba, Seppelts, Jacob Creek, Penfolds, Wolf Blass and Saltram. Whispering Wall Wolf Blass Winery - The new Wolf Blass winery, opened in 2000, represents the first stage of a 10-year development for the home of the legendary Wolf Blass wines.
