Frequently Asked Questions

Why should we choose a Globus Tour?

Globus vacations are designed to offer you flexibility, choice, and a pace that best fits the way you want to travel. Globus offers MORE included features, MORE quality hotels, and MORE experience with over 80 years of taking travelers on unforgettable journeys. In addition, Globus offers MORE value with an average price less per day than our nearest competitor. The safety of our travelers and the richness of our vacations is a priority and it is what has made Globus the worldwide leader in travel and name you can trust.

When will I receive my documents?

Travel documents, including any paper tickets or e-ticket itineraries and other information, are sent approximately two to three weeks prior to departure from your home country, provided full payment has been received.

What is Safety Net Protection?

Globus (and Cosmos) are dedicated to ensuring your trip is worry and hassle free, even when booking. Should you be uncertain what your commitments will be leading up to your departure, the Globus Family offer a SafetyNet Protection policy*, for $75 per person. The SafetyNet Transfer Protection* enables Globus passengers to amend their tour up to 24 hours prior to the tour departure date to another tour departing in the same calendar year, (once only) without any applicable cancellation charges or penalties. The SafetyNet Cancellation Protection* enables Globus passengers to cancel their tour in full - up to 30 days prior to the tour departure date, without any applicable cancellation charges or penalties. Conditions apply. You'll have the option of selecting this when requesting a quote.

What size can my suitcase be?

Porterage for one suitcase on tour is included in the tour price. Due to limited coach capacity, we strongly recommend that this single bag should have dimensions not exceeding 76x53x28cm (30"x 21"x 11") and weight not exceeding 22 kg (50 lbs). We regret we are unable to accept a second suitcase, or any luggage exceeding these limits. Please note that air carriers, cruise lines and other forms of transportation may have restrictions and requirements including weight, and we recommend that you contact the suppliers directly for additional information. Some airlines are also charging fees for additional checked baggage in excess of one per passenger and these fees are not included in the vacation package. Please check with you airline directly for baggage information and regulations. Globus is not responsible for any additional fees imposed by air carriers regarding baggage.

Who else and how many will be travelling with me?

The average number of people on a Globus tour is 38, and we limit the number of tour members on our tours to a maximum of 44. This ensures smaller groups giving you more space, comfort and legroom. However our Platinum Collection tours carry a maximum of 40 passengers.

Do you have Globus tour reviews I can read before I decide?

We request feedback from past clients who have travelled with Globus and booked with Global Journeys. You can read their Globus touring reviews here, and each of our tour itinerary pages displays past client reviews relating to that particular tour.

Will the coach be modern and comfortable, and how many will be on tour with me?

If there is ever a time you'll appreciate choosing Globus, it's when you board our luxury coaches. In Europe for instance, we limit our group size to just 44 people with the average group size being 38, this means fewer seats providing extra legroom for greater comfort. With panoramic windows, air-conditioning, state-of-the-art sound system and reclining seats, you'll journey in style when travelling from one superb destination to the other. Our Platinum Collection tours carry a maximum of 40 passengers. We offer daily rotation of seating, which gives everyone a variety of views.

What is the difference between a tour director and a local guide? What are they like?

Your tour director will accompany you from the start to the end of your tour, educating you on the places and the history of the destination. Local guides are included in many cities to give you in-depth information on the culture, history and attractions of the city. Both Tour Director and Local Guides have a passion for travel, people and the destination and look forward to sharing their passion with you. If you chose to book either a "pre" or "post" - vacation extension, please note that your Tour Director may not escort you during this part of your vacation. However, in such cases, a Local Host will be available should you require any assistance.

Do vacation prices include tips to Tour Directors, Drivers & Local Guides?

It is customary worldwide to pay tips to Tour Directors and Drivers on all international vacations and these are not included in your quote. The option to prepay these tips prior to departure is possible however. Please ask your consultant to include this in your quote. You will receive Gratuity vouchers with your travel documents and all you need to do is give this to the Tour Director and driver or Cruise Director and ship's crew at the end of the vacation.

Does Globus offer more tours that are not printed within each brochure?

Yes, Globus offers over 200 tours worldwide and it is not possible to include these all in our brochures. All tours are featured on this site and it has been designed to make it easy for you to find the right tour by simply search via the destination to which you want to travel.

I'm finding it difficult to match two tours together?

Have you considered pre or post tour accommodation? We offer fantastic rates hard to find elsewhere and this may enable you to select sequential tours with minimal disruption to your intended travel plans.

What is the benefit of travelling on the Eurostar high speed train??

Globus uses the Eurostar for all channel crossing from London to Europe. The Eurostar takes you from the heart of London to the centre of Paris in 2 hours 15 minutes or Brussels in around 2 hours, while other operators will travel all day using coach, ferry and coach. With Globus you effectively get an extra half day to explore in each direction.

What can my London Host offer me?

Unlike other tour operators Globus has 50 hosts located at the airport and in each of our London hotels, so you only have to walk to the lobby not half way across London for assistance. Your host is there to help you with all your questions on London, they will provide you with maps, directions and a wide range of tours to ensure you see the best of London. Whether it be a city orientation tour, or dinner and a West End show your host will provide you with all the information and assistance you require.

Do you have a share program for singles?

Globus do not take reservations on a "share" basis. Sidestep the single room supplement by travelling with a friend if you can.

About Globus

The international Globus group began as a small family company, led by the father of current President, Sergio Mantegazza, in 1928. The company originally offered scenic motorcoach rides around Lake Lugano, in the southern part of Switzerland.

Following the success of this operation, Mantegazza quickly expanded the business by purchasing a fleet of motorcoaches, and soon pioneered the concept of escorted 'first class' touring around Europe.

Globus continued to introduce successful touring packages to new markets in Australia, New Zealand, and Canada and in 1981 Globus launched its 'first class' packages of the United States and Canada.

The combination of popular and innovative destinations, flawless service, and integrity, have earned Globus an enviable record in the travel industry.

Customer loyalty is such that seven out of ten Globus customers have travelled with Globus before or have been recommended by past travellers - a notable achievement in a highly competitive industry.

Accommodation
Something amazing happens when you’re comfortable in the heart of your destination. Your senses have the luxury to stray from detail and worry, finding in their place anticipation and wonder. You’ll find this comfort in our hotels—where quality stands the test of time, service embraces hospitality, and location is paramount. With your hotels in harmony with your itinerary, you’ll never waste precious vacation time getting to the sights you want to see the most on your Globus vacation.

At the end of a busy day of sightseeing, you want to relax in comfortable, clean, attractive accommodations. At our first-class, conveniently located hotels, you'll always feel welcome and well looked after.

Globus uses chains such as Crowne Plaza, Forte, Hilton, Holiday Inn, Hyatt, Inter-Continental, Jolly, Queens Moat Houses, Marriott, Mövenpick, Radisson SAS, Renaissance, Scandic, Sheraton, Sofitel, Thistle and Westin.

The specific hotels we have selected for you are listed separately for each tour. The vast majority of our hotels are rated deluxe (D), superior first-class (SF), or first-class (F). In overnight places where there is no hotel in these categories or where our demand exceeds the supply, we choose the best available superior tourist-class (ST) or tourist class (TC) hotels. With your Globus travel documents you’ll receive a list of hotel addresses, telephone numbers, and fax numbers for your vacation.

Dining in style
On our vacations, most meals are included. Start each day with a full breakfast; at some hotels, it will be a buffet with all the trimmings. When you dine at your hotel, you’ll enjoy delicious 3-course dinners with choice of entrees. The meals are carefully planned to avoid the repetition of entrees. Whenever possible, we include dinner at a local restaurant so that you can sample the specialties of the area.

Unlike an airline, we cannot process requests for special meals. While some hotels and restaurants may be able to provide for a special diet, such as vegetarian or salt-free food, there is no way for us to guarantee this. Special food may cost extra.

Coaches
Each Globus motorcoach has upholstered, reclining seats with headrests and individual air-conditioning vents. A high-fidelity sound system broadcasts professional Tour Director's commentary to every seat. Our custom of daily seat rotation gives everyone a variety of vantage points to see the passing countryside and city scenes. All Globus touring motorcoaches are fully air-conditioned.

Limited Group Size for Extra Comfort
The length and width of modern motorcoaches is standard, prescribed by law. The difference among tour operators is in the number of seats installed and actually sold. While it is customary to install and sell 53 seats, Globus installs fewer seats for extra leg room, and limits group size to a maximum of 44 tour members (Europe vacations only). The extra space contributes enormously to your comfort. For airport and port transfers in Britain we generally use motorcoaches with 53 seats.

Smoke-Free Coaches
We do not allow smoking on the coach. There are plenty of opportunities to smoke during the frequent stops.

Experienced & Professional Drivers
Globus drivers take pride in driving and in their vehicles, keeping them in great shape and spotlessly clean. Your driver will help you on and off the motorcoach with a smile and load your bags with care. Our travelers consistently lavish the highest praise on the person behind the wheel!

Emergency Washrooms
Motorcoaches in Europe are equipped with an emergency washroom. For transfers and sightseeing in London this amenity is not available. We deliberately use the term “emergency washroom,” because this facility is not meant to be used regularly in lieu of the restrooms at our frequent comfort stops.

Extra nights before and after your vacation
If you require extra nights at the first and/or last vacation hotel, we will make reservations for you at the rates quoted, provided you request them at the time you book your vacation. Rates are per person, per night, and include room with private bath, breakfast, service charges, and taxes.

Extra nights are only available immediately prior to or after your vacation. Every effort will be made to reserve extra nights at the hotel where your vacation stays. If space at the hotel is not available, alternative accommodations will be reserved at a hotel of equivalent standard. When this is the case, the transfer from and to the vacation hotel is at our expense.

As hotel space is limited, we cannot reserve more than two extra nights before and/or after your vacation, unless they are needed to bridge the gap between two Globus vacations. During particularly busy periods, hotel space in certain cities can become so tight that we may be unable to sell extra nights.
