Tour Description
See both historical Italy and classical Greece on this all-encompassing holiday. Guided sightseeing tours are included in each major city, and many of them are walking tours. Highlights are St. Peter's, the Sistine Chapel, the Colosseum and the Roman Forum in Rome, the Leaning Tower in Pisa, Michelangelo's David in Florence, St. Anthony in Padua, St. Mark's Basilica and the Doges' Palace with the Bridge of Sighs in Venice, St. Francis' and St. Clare's Basilicas in Assisi, and a walking tour and overnight stay in the pretty town of Perugia.
From Ancona, sail to Patras in Greece. Learn the history of the Olympic Games in Olympia, explore the excavations of Delphi, and visit the Acropolis in Athens. The three nights in Athens allow time to explore on your own or to take an exciting optional cruise to some of the charming islands. Arrive In Rome, Italy.
Time to rest or start exploring the "Eternal City." At 5 pm, meet your Tour Director and travelling companions and leave the hotel for a special welcome dinner with wine at one of Rome's lively restaurants. (D)

Rome.
Sightseeing with your Local Guide concentrates on ancient Rome: visit the COLOSSEUM and the ROMAN FORUM, where Roman legions marched in triumph. Time for independent activities and exciting optional excursions. (B)

Rome - Florence.
Start with a visit to the VATICAN MUSEUMS and SISTINE CHAPEL, world famous for Michelangelo's ceiling paintings and The Last Judgement. Continue to monumental ST.PETER'S SQUARE and BASILICA. Next is Florence, the splendid capital of Tuscany and the "Cradle of the Renaissance." Tonight an optional dinner at a typical Tuscan restaurant can be arranged. (B)

Follow your Local Guide to the ACADEMY OF FINE ARTS with Michelangelo's David and the magnificent CATHEDRAL. Admire Giotto's Bell Tower, the Baptistry's "Gate of Paradise," and sculpture-studded SIGNORIA SQUARE. Afternoon and evening at leisure. (B)

Florence - Pisa - Venice.
Drive to Pisa and take pictures of the amazing Leaning Tower, 55 metres (180 feet) high and no less than 3.5 metres (12 feet) out of the perpendicular. Then, straight across the wooded Etruscan Apennine Mountains to Venice. (B)

Venice.
Enter in style by PRIVATE BOAT. Highlights of your guided walking tour this morning are ST. MARK'S SQUARE and the byzantine BASILICA, lavish DOGES' PALACE and the BRIDGE OF SIGHS. Also watch skilled GLASSBLOWERS fashion their delicate objects in an age-old traditional manner. Then, enjoy Venice at your own pace or join an optional gondola ride. (B/D)

Venice - Ferrara - Assisi.
A scenic drive today through the lush plains of the mighty River Po to Ferrara. Stroll past imposing Este Castle to the marble cathedral before continuing to peaceful Assisi. A walking tour with a Local Guide features ST. CLARE'S CHURCH and ST. FRANCIS' BASILICA, the hub of a religious order devoted to ideals of humility, forgiveness, simplicity, and love for God's creatures. Hear about monastic life and see the priceless frescoes adorning the walls of the church. (B/D)

Olympia - Delphi.
Focus on Olympia, where the athletes of antiquity performed in honour of the king of deities. Learn about the history of those original Olympic Games as you walk with your Local Guide among the impressive remains of the GYMNASIUM and the Temples of Hera and Zeus. Visit the MUSEUM, which displays a magnificent statue of Hermes. In the afternoon, proceed to mythical Delphi. (B/D)

Delphi - Athens.
Morning visit with a Local Guide to the ancient sanctuary of the god Apollo in its dramatic setting on the slopes of Mount Parnassus. Hear about the Oracle and tour the EXCAVATIONS . Also visit the ARCHAEOLOGICAL MUSEUM to admire the Charioteer of Delphi, an extraordinary 5th-century BC bronze statue. On your way to Athens, your Tour Director will tell you about Thebes, the setting of Sophocles' Oedipus Rex, and Marathon, where 10,000 Athenians defeated more than twice that number of Persian invaders in 490 BC. You may wish to join an optional dinner outing to one of Plaka's tavernas with cool Retsina wines and folk dancing reminiscent of Zorba the Greek. (B)

Tour the capital's classical sights with a Local Guide: the Parthenon's crowning beauty atop the ACROPOLIS, the Erechtheum with its Porch of Maidens, the beautifully preserved Theseum, Roman Temple of Zeus, Theater of Dionysus, and the Agora where Socrates taught. Vistas of the Royal Palace, government buildings, and elegant homes in the modern city provide a striking contrast to the remains of a glorious past. Travel documents, including any paper tickets or e-ticket itineraries and other information, are sent approximately two to three weeks prior to departure from your home country, provided full payment has been received.
The average number of people on a Globus tour is 38, and we limit the number of tour members on our tours to a maximum of 44. This ensures smaller groups giving you more space, comfort and legroom. However our Platinum Collection tours carry a maximum of 40 passengers.
If there is ever a time you'll appreciate choosing Globus, it's when you board our luxury coaches. In Europe for instance, we limit our group size to just 44 people with the average group size being 38, this means fewer seats providing extra legroom for greater comfort. Your tour director will accompany you from the start to the end of your tour, educating you on the places and the history of the destination. Both Tour Director and Local Guides have a passion for travel, people and the destination and look forward to sharing their passion with you. If you chose to book either a "pre" or "post" - vacation extension, please note that your Tour Director may not escort you during this part of your vacation. However, in such cases, a Local Host will be available should you require any assistance.
It is customary worldwide to pay tips to Tour Directors and Drivers on all international vacations and these are not included in your quote. The option to prepay these tips prior to departure is possible however. Please ask your consultant to include this in your quote. You will receive Gratuity vouchers with your travel documents and all you need to do is give this to the Tour Director and driver or Cruise Director and ship's crew at the end of the vacation.

Globus uses the Eurostar for all channel crossing from London to Europe. The Eurostar takes you from the heart of London to the centre of Paris in 2 hours 15 minutes or Brussels in around 2 hours, while other operators will travel all day using coach, ferry and coach. With Globus you effective get an extra half day to explore in each direction.
Unlike other tour operators Globus has 50 hosts located at the airport and in each of our London hotels, so you only have to walk to the lobby not half way across London for assistance. Your host is there to help you with all your questions on London, they will provide you with maps, directions and a wide range of tours to ensure you see the best of London. Whether it be a city orientation tour, or dinner and a West End show your host will provide you with all the information and assistance you require.
Globus do not take reservations on a "share" basis. Sidestep the single room supplement by travelling with a friend if you can.
