All in all this was a great tour. I was a bit over the indigenous art. Far too much emphasis for my liking. A fantastic, pleasant and knowlegable guide, the accomodation, safari tents were fabulous especially Bell Gorge, El Questro and Hawk Dreaming. HVS accomodation, would have liked the bungalows better, but ok, and food over all was pretty good too. There were very few dissapointments we were kept busy throughout the tour. We would love to see a bird watching tour through their regions.

Frequently Asked Questions
On an APT Kimberley Wilderness Adventure there's no such thing as too old, as our tours put the spring back into your step. It doesn't matter what age you are as long as you are in good health, and have a spirit of adventure.
To achieve maximum enjoyment from a Kimberley Wilderness Adventure, it is expected that passengers maintain a good level of fitness and general well-being. Given the remoteness of the Kimberley region, access to medical treatment and medication is extremely limited. Passengers requiring subscription medication should ensure they pack sufficient medication for the duration of the tour, as subscriptions can not readily be filled during the tour. Most tours contain hiking and frequent stops for swimming in Kimberley gorges and waterholes.
Some hikes, such as those on the Mitchell Plateau and in the Bungle Bungle are in excess of 1 hour in duration, over sometimes unstable and undulating terrain. Day time temperatures in these regions can be extreme and can lead to dehydration if sufficient fluids are not replaced. Given the poor quality of some of the roads we travel on, it is recommended that passengers with neck or back injuries consult their medical practitioner to determine the suitability of the tour.
Given the nature of our adventures in the Kimberley, we recommend that seven (7) years of age is the minimum age for children joining one of our tours. All children under 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. During Australian school holiday periods, there may be a higher proportion of children on board the tour.
Absolutely! Our network of Wilderness Camps and lodges feature permanent and sturdy tented cabins. Cabin comforts include a raised wooden floor, comfortable twin beds with thick mattresses, doonas, pillows, a side table, and even interior lighting. And fresh bed linen provides that extra touch.
Our wilderness camps also feature shared ablutions, offering hot and cold showers (privacy assured), low-impact permanent toilet facilities and low voltage night lighting throughout the camp. At Bungle Bungle Wilderness Lodge, all tented cabins contain private en suite facilities, a first for Purnululu National Park. Enjoy staying in the heart of the Bungle Bungle with a touch of luxury! Mitchell Falls Wilderness Lodge on the Mitchell Plateau has minimal environmental impact whilsts giving guests the unique opportunity to be surrounded by untouched habitat. Enjoy tented cabins which feature ensuites, fresh linen and solar powered hot water.
Our modern fleet consists of Isuzu and Landcruiser 4-wheel drive vehicles that have air conditioning, comfortable coach-style seating, and are seat belt equipped. These vehicles are fitted with satellite telephones ensuring uninterrupted communications with our Broome base, in case of an emergency. All vehicles have been specifically designed for the rugged Kimberley terrain.
There's nothing standard about our meals; they are praised as being plentiful, well balanced, and healthy. Breakfasts include cereal, toast with condiments, and often with cooked options. Lunches are fresh with a variety of cold meats, salads and breads, served picnic style. Dinners are delicious home-style three-course meals, served in unique dining areas. Enjoy a complimentary glass of wine with your evening meal, and reflect on another great Kimberley day.
April through to October are the most pleasant months to travel through the remote Kimberley region. In April/May and September/October the weather is fine and hot with mild nights (average maximum 33 degrees Celsius). From June to August the days are fine and warm with cool nights (average maximum 29 degrees Celsius). Rainfall is rare.
Casual, drip dry, hand washable clothing is recommended. Bring 4 or 5 changes of clothing, including shorts, T-shirts, collared and long sleeve shirts to avoid sunburn, and a windcheater and pants for cooler evenings. A good pair of hiking boots is recommended, along with some shoes you don't mind getting wet. It is recommended that you bring a sun hat, sunglasses, sun block and all necessary toiletries (Gentlemen, don't forget a razor as your electronic shaver cannot be powered out here!) We suggest you also bring a sturdy water container (at least one litre in volume) and a torch.
Hand washing facilities are available at each of our Wilderness Camps (hand washing is not encouraged at Bungle Bungle Wilderness Lodge due to water conservation principles). In larger centres such as Kununurra and Broome, hotels feature coin-operated washing machines and dryers.
We have a dedicated section on our website providing more detailed information on KWA including more FAQ's on what you need to know before, during and after your travel; as well as information on what to expect on tour, and a comprehensive search facility to enable you to easily find more of their tours.
